Haven't heard this in years nor thought of Melanie in decades!! But, it's a good memory (even without the skates!) And Ray, the genius strikes again! (I saw him at a small supper club in LA in the 60s and he blew us away, of course!) Nice few moments!🤗

@@nancyskomars1230 I would love to have seen when he was alive. I never got the chance.
In the sixties I was still a child (born in’62)
I was a rebellious rock n roller in the later 70’s but I knew who Ray was and admired him. I bypassed 80’s music and listened to fusion jazz mainly.
By the 90’s I had and still have very eclectic taste
I remember this sing and the skate song well as my father ( who could be a monster) loved music
Anyway, I’m so glad you liked and thanks always for listening.

@@Anothercoverlover62 70s is my soundtrack. 80s, I listened to Bruce Hornsby, Miami Sound Machine and Don Henley (Eagles) solo albums! 90s Country, Brooks and Dunn! Now, I'm loving hearing many voices, many sounds. If you can find Don Henley's "Get over it", it's a wonderfully understated message!!✌✌🌹

Ha! I loved this. I'm going to have to be careful in my coments to you, or not? A coversation on different versions in cover songs brought this up. This song name - Thinking out loud on a songwriter, origin artist views on redos of their work. Lucky I didn;t blurt out her roller skate song - same album. Ha. The original a classic, Rays cover just awesome. Have you heard about when he wanted to drive a car - fast. Well they put him in a Corvette in the middle of the Salt Flats with not enough gas to get out of the valley and let him loose.I would have paid alot to ride shotgun. His laugh would have me in tears.Perhaps that is why there are brail keys on drive up ATM's? If you do a further show on this I will be along for that ride my friend. Yippie!!!😜 In my golden years I my be reverting to my childhood but I'm not changing genders. Your description lists me as a her Are you pushing my leg young man?

      @@jeffkerr4861 Are not a “her””??
Just kidding brother… I didn’t even realized I’d done that but I’ll change it.
I would have also loved to ride in that car with Ray but unlike you I would have been screaming my ass off!! I would do it for the story I would tell later…hopefully

@@Anothercoverlover62 That song - about sharing parts reminds me of the story of Little Jeff and Little Sally from Arkansas. They were doing the peek see about boys and girls we all did. Well
Jeff dropped his trows and said to Sally - see this, you're never going to grow anything like this. Sally looked and realized that was true and went home crying. A while later she came skipping back. She liftted her skirt and dropped trow and said. Jeff look at this. My mommy says with this I can get all the things like yours I'll ever want. Have you heard from Wade? I miss his wit.

My wife met rays braille transcriber. She help out with a few others. Most recent she braille a letter to Ronny Milsap for a police friend of his here in town who was going out to see him. Another useless rabbit trail.
      Happy new year.

@@jeffkerr4861 Hahahaha!! I just saw this respond and I needed the guffaws? I believe I did a cover for Wade recently, but I need to check. I too miss the acerbic nature of his musings!
