- Ever since I moved into my home I've wanted to plant a vegetable garden. This spring I made it happen! I built two raised garden beds (my garage workshop came in handy) and planted my very first garden. I'm excited to see the plants grow--this will be a fun project for me and my daughter Ziya.

Girl, cucumber plants grow wild!!! And produce so much!! Make sure you monitor and trim often. Tomatoes and cucumbers also like to intertwine with each other. Good luck 👍🏾

This year is my fourth year doing a vegetable garden (if the weather ever clears up) it's one of those things were you're constantly learning as you go along. Some useful tips:
- I find the tags the plants come with from the store fade very fast or get damaged or blow away. For the past two years I've gotten garden plastic tags and written the names on them (I'm sure you'll find a more creative way to do this)
- I'm not sure what slugs and snails are like there but I would recommend some type of slug and snail repellent (especially for your herbs) there are natural repellents like eggshells and coffee grounds.
- Even though you put the weed protector down I'm telling you weeds never fail to grow no matter how much you try to prepare. Because your garden is in containers it'll be manageable but just something to keep an eye on.

You need to companion plant so that your plants want get ate up by insects. Add some onions by your tomatoes by your cucumber plant some dill nasturtium radish these help bring pollinators and help keep pest away also plant some flowers as well you want the bees and other beneficial insects to come to your beds
Also marigolds especially

I just got my garden ready for Spring & Summer. It’s mostly plants, but I have to plant my basil soon.

You should ask a Gardner who can tell you what type of plants are good to plant and what type of soil you have.

adding mulch (straw, leaf litter, wood chips) to the tops of your soil will help retain moisture in the coming summer months. your peppers can also be perennials if you bring them inside before the frost hits, and prune them down like rose bushes for new growth the next year.

I suggest getting two drills so you don't have the switch the bit and it's always good to have two since you have a team and it would make it go by much faster

Hi Raven. Another thing you can do is when or if you shred documents to dump the shredded paper in your garden beds, it composts well.

Maybe get one of those five feet tall stacking planters for your strawberrys.
Maybe make a couole more boxes and plant some flowers. Or a trellis over your entrance gate and plant some climbing flowers there.

I from Australia and I grow all my own produce. In time, you’re going to need much bigger beds. Especially with tomatoes, they grow rapidly, constant pruning is required. Enjoy the process though
You should definitely make cute diy garden markers to help remember the names of the plants 🌱
Love this! You are in zone 10 maybe 10a and tomatoes are out of season for that zone. It’s too hot for them plus disease rate is higher when hotter Cucumber also.
