      Let’s hope those leaked changes were true because some of them I saw for rein are pretty decent. Even if it doesn’t solve the issues he has, it’ll at least make him more relevant to play.

      But...but then what about _metal ranks!_ Metal ranks would be dominated by Rein! Then as soon as they get to a rank where skill takes a major part in further advancement, they get booted back down to the rank they're supposed to be at. Gotta balance bottom up, right, Blizzard?

    Not a single new OW2 hero is even slightly threatened by a rein in melee range, they can all escape or fight him happily up close.

      I cornered a low hp Zen on Rein and casually went to kill him, but he just discorded me and had time to unload a 5-ball volley in my face and instakill😅

      What are you talking... Queen can't go 1v1 with Rein and Ram it's a fair matchup if you swing your hammer and not hold shield while he pummels you for free.

      ​@@ssvv1queen can just shout and run if she's in danger, while ram can just punch and block almost every swing and mitigate the reins damage by a lot, while every other ow2 character can also either kill, run away or just survive too long next to the melee tank. It is ridiculous how bad rein is now

      @@ssvv1 queen has shout so can control the distance and escape melee, ram has slow if he needs to get away, on top of as you say ignoring shield, forcing you to swing and be open to other attacks. whether or not either of them are actually super strong against rein this patch or not isn't the point, it's a design issue where new heroes all have every option

      Worse part was that was specific to Reinhardt, no other hero was affected by this. Well maybe ram but I’m not sure because his ability is supposed to go through things

      @@jamesgomez3455 and genji, blade could slash through petal. They nerfed the 2 heroes in the game that deserve the less a nerf, especially Rein which is beyond unplayable while genji is just very very very underwhelming considering other dps in the game

    Maybe it's dumb, but to be honest I like the idea of Rein having some sort of passive effect that makes it so his CC's can't be cleansed or interacted with. So Shatter always stuns for full duration if it lands, you can't suzu or grip someone Rein has pinned, that kinda thing. He already has to put himself in very dangerous situations for those abilities to be effective, and there's enough counterplay in the game to those abilities already that I don't feel like it'd be broken

      That wouldn’t be a passive though, that would just be a specific character’s abilities not being affected by others. Similar to how Life Grip nullifies abilities like Hog’s hook but is nullified by ally movement abilities.
      I don’t know, it just sounds silly to me. It makes it seem like Rein isn’t the problem, all the immortality that we have is.

      ​@@thawingkarma233 thats because that *is* the problem. Bap's immortality has a healthbar (thus having been less of a problem in OW1) while pull and suzu are instant get out of jail free cards. This makes it so much harder to get good value, especially in higher elo, since they watch cooldowns/ult charges

      that do not change the thing the pull is not the reins problem, the problem is that character sucks, and I can tell you as GM player who mained rein whole ow 1 and ow 2 for a half an year

      @@patrikpetrak9249 It is part of the problem WHY rein sucks in ow2. Rein cant do shit anymore because they added too many things that bail people out of kills that rein already has to hard-commit to, but at the same time rein doesnt have the capabilities to follow up. If his charge target gets pulled, suzued or lamped, or he gets sleeped or in any other way stunned, he only has his shield to protect himself from being punished, WHILE being out of position.

      Ram: remove the shield
      Jk: decrease self healing, increase knife pull distance and make shout stronger.
      Mauga: he's already an ow1 tank, actually, he's a TF2 tank.

    Every time I play Rein after the first fight they swap to Ram,Orisa,Hog and my team think I am trowing because I refuse to counter swap IN QP

      The only time I switch is when the other tank goes Orisa and starts to play "bully the tank." Once you do that, I pull out Zarya and get mean.

    I think the best thing they could do for Rein would be to just make his shield into a wall, similar to Mougas ult. This way people cant just run up to you and shoot/melee you through your shield. Right now I would say the most annoying part about Rein is that his shield is suppose to be the thing that protects you(and your team) but because people can just walk through it its useless when your the guy that has to be right in there face.

      Mauga ult isn't a wall, it's the chains that stop you, thats why orisa can just fortify and casually walk out of it.

    I know a lot are saying that Rien needs to be unable to be CC'd, but I think that is too strong. What I think would be better is a 2 way passive, work in that "tank" aspect, and have that a portion of damage blocked is turned into an overshield that gives him a slight (ever so slight) speed boost while said overshield is in place. So picture that the Rien blocks 1k damage, half of that gets turned into Overshield and he gets a 10% speed boost while the overshield is up. That would then enable that little bit of a juggernaut play into them, while rewarding that damage blocking. It also give a skill play. How much can you push into the enemy team while being able to get out. It would also inadvertently mean that a lot of the CC that rien struggles with due to his sheer size, would be less of a sure thing and more of a skill play against him. This would reward the slow and methodical play that is current, as well as give Rien some lethality and self reliance.

    Rein being the only Melee tank in Ow needs to have his own passive where he can no longer get CCd (except for big ults like Sigma flux, etc) and getting CCd will instead slow him for a short time. Give the man the chance to get in there and fu*king smack people without getting Slept, Rocked, Speared, Hacked, Kicked, etc.
    Rework his charge so that it’s like Mauga’s in terms of animation but you have more control and options to charge with your shield up or just grab and pin someone against a wall, or just throw them into the air before jumping yourself and then striking them with your hammer mid air and slamming them back down. (that would be kinda sick ngl)
    Also for Shatter, getting stunned for a long time sucks, but what if they could tweak the time where players are just staying still on the ground? Maybe make Rein enter a short animation where he’s immune to all CC, as he swings his hammer back and begins to charge before slamming it down and causing the ground in front of him to erupt in 3 big waves. Each wave would deal damage (obviously) but would also knock enemies up for like an extra second or at least half a second before they fall back down and stay stunned for the 2 seconds, making the total stun duration of the ult 3. That way it’s not like they would just stand completely still. Also making the ultimate animation a bit longer and making the 3 waves erupt one after the other would at least give enemies a chance to at least try to get out of its range. Now, because the ult would be ‘slower’ per say, they should also make it so that it’s no longer blocked by shields, given that it would impact the ground and not necessarily the space above it.

      good ideas honestly
      me personally ive got a shit load of crack pot ideas
      increase armor hp
      lower shield cooldown when it explodes+higher recharge rate, but lower shield hp
      rework charge, so its like a resource meter, instant cancel available, and cooldown is 0.5 seconds for every 8 meters traveled(65 meter max range)
      and increase damage of pin+gives u stun immunity and 20%dmg reduction
      passive grants some sort of status bonus for kills, like faster swing speed, or when shield breaks rein gets some instant overhealth temp (like 75-100 extra)
      some extra cc resistence or 10-15% dmg reduction when he has armor
      fs maybe a rework so it works a little bit like queen's axe but toned down
      and for shatter, make it so enemeis cant get suzu'd to get off ground, and targets get 15% less healing when knocked+a lil extra duration to knock
      add back the 250 bonk

      The CC immunity would be a good passive but the problem with that is a good chunk of CC abilities also do a decent amount of damage, also so he would still be getting hurt when he comes into contact with a CC. I just think he needs a little more speed, armor, shield health and his ult to be an cc that doesnt get counterd by a single ability but i dont know how many others would feel about ANY changes to him at all.

      @@menamjef2939Well, the only CC abilities that actually do considerable damage are Rock, Hinder, Shield Bash (In Rally), Flux, and that is pretty much it I believe, it’s not a ton. Ana’s nade does 10 damage I believe, which is reduced by armor. Hack does no damage, and I can’t really think of any hard CCs…
      I think what makes Rein good is his ability to get in the and use your hammer, but it’s hard to do that when literally every single role on the enemy team has a CC ability that completely shuts you down.
      Having a passive that slows instead when receiving a CC would allow Rein for more opportunity and a chance to fight back or at the very least protect himself when the enemy tram just spams CCs on him.
      Also it’s important to point out that Rein is the only Melee-based hero apart from Brig, but being a tank and thus having a bigger hitbox, it’s almost impossible to swing more than 3 times without getting CCd and explode right after.

      How would punch work? Would it still displace but not stun into a wall? Or would he just not move pretty much means rein will 100% counter pin and if it works like maugas he goes right through and has better peel to run back to his team. giving doom no play making ability

      @@Crusty_SwordPunch would still displace him and he would still take the impact damage if he’s pushed against a wall just like with Orisa’s javelin, just not the stun. He would however, get the slow.
      As for charge you have realize that it’s on a rather long cooldown and it’s main purpose isn’t to counter Doom’s punch. But I think that Doom should also get CC immunity for the short time he’s traveling with punch. Not while he’s charging it though. His punch is on a really short cooldown and he can overpower it with his block and ult, but he should def get the CC immunity for the short time he’s traveling with punch. It’s a very short time, but it would make him more viable and players would have to react while he’s charging instead of just bullying Dooms, waiting for him to charge only to stun him mid punch.
      Tanks just feel so….bad rn. It’s sad. Especially with how everyone has CCs, and tanks are a sponge for those.

    I was playing rein the other day in Qp and literally could do no damage because as soon as I drop sheild Id get obliterated. Mind you I am PLAT 3 (low rank where rein is "good") BUT PLAYING QP. Most value I got was sheilding on cart. I tried killing their ana on multiple occasion but my swings did negative dmg. I LITERALLY HIT HER 3 TIMES AND SHE WAS FULL HP. Rein is the most ass tank in the game and devs are on something to think he isnt.

      Brother, I hit Diamond 1 playing Rein and I still get QP games like that, and not that uncommonly. It's so rough playing Rein, I feel like it's a crusade of my own to keep playing him.

    The thing with me is that I just want rein to get a minor shield regen buff. It might be tabuu to want something like that for a character that runs through the lower ranks with ease, but it just that there's way too much damage trying to make its way through that barrier where you're either holding the shield up for a second and its already at 100hp or putting it down to let it recharge and you immediately have to put it back up because your teammates are complaining about coverage. If the overall damage decrease does happen in a future, I can see it positively hitting most of the tank with rein being a huge benefit to it

      the flaw with the “lower ranks will suffer” argument is that, good players are always gonna steamroll lower ranks. their always gonna get value when the players in that threshold don’t know how easily rein is countered, or just don’t bother/care to.
      and nobody in the lower ranks is gonna take to Reddit/UA-cam what have you to complain because they don’t take the game as seriously as plat and above players.
      the game should be balanced top down, period.

      High ranks depend on low ranks to keep the game alive and online not the other way around

    rein is a relic from the part of OW history where Tanks weren't allowed to consistently negate damage and deal it at the same time. But then we got Orisa... and then we got Sigma... and then DVA got her rocket barrage.

    Rework idea, change the way reins armor works canonly by his suit of armor has its own sort of power storage that recharges and can be used sort of how hog now works with his heal in a way.
    lets say that power storage is like 1500 (up for interpretation) and starts its gradual recharge 1 second after any amount of it is used. make recharge rate something around 100 a second
    using shield will only allow you to use shield, obviously just like how it is now but damage mitigated will have a 1 to 1 conversion: 1 dmg is 1 unit of reins armor power storage.
    when shield is down it begins recharging
    fire charges use 200 units and can only fire a max of 7 (pretty fair bc no skilled rein will use more than 3 if they want to hold onto shield) but lower the range on them so hes not in the backlines being rein 76.
    charge will use 500 units and has a 5 second cooldown, those 500 points cannot be recharged whilst in charge, only after charge is stopped. 5 seconds cooldown because rein needs that mobility for being a melee tank.
    he should be mostly armor health. more than orisa and damn well more than mauga, for mauga being shirtless and having almost as much as rein is absurd.
    rein literally is all about his armor and tanking shit, mostly armor health if not all, for him being unable to jumo high, fly, secure high ground easily- that idea isnt all that bad since most shooter characters are easy to get out of his reach and melt his health, by wanting to lower those circumstances where rein just explodes from hitscans and burst damage out of his reach i think its a great idea- instead of making him have more offensive potential for those people who are good with utterly exploding him, its better to just give rein the defensive capabilities to mitigate it a little longer.... and then explode from bastion discord

    A charge meter which works the same way as Roadhog's take a breather with like a 2 Second cooldown

    I got a crazy idea to rework Reinhardt:
    - Base movement speed increased by 20%
    - You can swing while your shield is up. hammer swings have a less broad hitbox (or deal less damage maybe) while barrier is up
    - gain 50% damage resistance when charging

      Better one for this; when you swing your hammer your shield goes across your back, protecting your back and any damage from behind whilst you're facing forward.
      That might make him a bit tougher to overwhelm but it would be a nice niche buff.

    Its not just the uncounterable support abilities that cause this issue for rein. Most tanks in the game can use their defensive cooldowns while still attacking, yet rein has to choose one at a time. Combine that with the fact most tanks also have some form of gaining back health and rein can't compete as he spends all game holding shield.

    Rein doesn't work for 5v5 imo. Damage is such a major issue in the game now with everything doing so much Rein can't keep up. When we had 6v6 you had a whole other tank to draw damage from.

    Okay I'm going to suggest something, as someone who comes from youtube trying to suggest balance changes, it may not be good it might be dogshit okay.
    Lifeweaver: make lifegrip not be able to grip while the person is Hard CC'd.
    Kiriko: remove the Damage Immunity from Suzu, keep the cleanse and heal. But up the heal from it.

    i have been a rein main for a very long time and honestly I feel what flats is saying I still play him because i am very stubborn but I wish they would make him more fun. At the end of the day he was designed in a better time which is gone now and probably we will never feel like what it used to feel like when you played rein comp in OW1. It is sad but I cherish the memories I made with my friends back in those days.

    One idea i have is adding a "nitro boost" button. Basically his base movement speed, jumpheight, atack speed and or damage, rocketboost speed and damage are all increased for a short duration allowing for more escape and or damage/ elimination options or a more risky play.
    Or an ability to reset cooldowns and some shield health is regained upon activation (Something like divert auxilary power).
    Both of those having a decent cooldown time.
    His main problem i think is :if his pin is countered, he is out of position and is about to die due to the nature of his playstyle. There probably needs to be a way for rein to remedy this.

    Easy fix to Rein...
    Similar to Sojourn's railgun;
    Have Reinhardt gain damage reduction based on a value of how much consistent damage he's taking at any given time.
    This caps out at 15% (Passive)
    Additionally,
    Increase the speed at which Reinhardt swings his hammer and increase his movement speed by 15% after a successful pin.

    Honestly if they aren't gonna change Rein, and they aren't gonna buff him in any significant way, they need to reward you for shielding. Most of his value in this game comes from shielding your team, but you as the Rein are not in any way rewarded for it. If you look at the scoreboard, elims, assists, damage, and healing all give ult charge. But damage mitigated doesn't. If Rein had a passive that gave him ult charge for blocking damage with his shield equivalent to the ult charge he gets for doing damage, I think that would help him out in terms of playing him how the devs want him to be played. And yeah, shatter is useless, but if you could throw one out every other fight or so, at least you'd have more chances to either make a play yourself, or use it to bait a bunch of cooldowns for your teammates to then get value from their abilities and ults.

    MY REIN FIX:
    1. Make Rein charge unstoppable like Mauga - break Mei wall, no LW pulls out of pin, etc.
    2. Fix pin hitbox so that it actually grips people instead of booping them away despite being directly on them.
    2. Make Rein's base speed slightly faster than other characters as a passive.

    Rein needs buffs, not reworks. Last thing I want to see is the devs give this man a trap or a bigger shield for "teamplay".
    As a Rein player, I want to see these changes, one if not all is good (with some random bonuses because why not)
    1) Hammer- Swing speed increase or decrease knockback, preferably knockback
    (Bonus -N/A)
    2) Firestrike - 125 baseline. That's it. Also, like Ram, PENETRATE LW'S PETAL! THAT WAS SUCH A DUMB BUFF FOR HIM!
    (Bonus - Firestrike puts people on fire. Status ailments may be an interesting way to add CC without actual CC abilities)
    3) Charge - Maybe a mini fortify, but I do like the instant kill potential in exchange for exposure. So I don't know...
    (Bonus - shield can be deployed while charging in)
    4) Shield - Reduce movement penalty when shield is deployed. And while I'd prefer not to, maybe the shield healthily needs increasing as well.
    (Bonus - have it a meter like Dva, and have it leave a firewall based on meter usage)
    5) Shatter - 3 second stun.
    (Bonus - 300 DPS if bonked)
    6) Hero Itself - Increase movement speed
    (Bonus - Change health to 225 health and 325 armor)

    My first spitball idea for a Rein rework would be tomake Fire Strike slightly weaker and do less damage, but the reason is it kinda becomes the primary fire. Kinda like in the Diablo 4 event, where every time rein attacked, a mini firestrike came out? Yeah, something like that. Maybe replace the ability slot with a spin type attack like we saw in the Rein trailer? So he could kinda charge into the team, attack, use his spin, and get alot of damage out at once. But that raises more questions and problems tho so im not too sure what to do. Tbh now that I think, rein being the only tank to 100 percent rely on pure melee seems to be alot of the problem. You could make arguments for people like Dva, Winton, ball and Doom but they all have guns and or ways to move around easily and be in and out.

    Mei and Kiriko just make the game so unfun. They stifle so many things. Suzu needs to be super reworked or straight up removed. You should be punished for getting hit by things, not bailed out by a basic ability.
    Maybe Mei should be reclassified as a tank since she’s made to take space and be a nuisance.

    I've always liked skills like Genji's swift strike instant recover cooldown when he gets a kill. I think Rein should have something similar with his fire strike. Maybe not on kill but on hit it gains a faster cooldown and maybe buff to damage or speed. That way it rewards aim and allows for momentum with it. Could even have a stack effect where it rewards multiple times of hitting ppl without missing and gets to like a maximum or something. This kinda change could bring a new fun playstyle to Rein without drastically changing his entire kit.

    I think the problem is the utilities that supports get, before you could get rewarded for flanking. Nowadays if you go to flank and are about to get a kill there’s many cooldowns that save players. My takes are Cooldowns should not be able to cancel ults. Suzu should be changed to heal only when it's applied to ultimate affected heroes. As well as delete lifeweaver

    I think Rein's biggest problem is that...He's a Melee character in a shooter game, please, even DF has some kind of shotgun in his hand, but Rein only has a hammer and a crystal shield which you can barely get any use out of. And the silly excuse of the devs that he's a "starter character" falls apart too easy, if so, why is Mercy a pretty playable support in high elos?

    The problem to me is his charge being stoppable and with the addition with the high output damage from Mauga and Bastion combo his shield does not have enough sustain for him to even get close to anyone. Mauga has an unstoppable charge... why can't Rein? That's his whole thing, being an unwavering force to be reckoned with.

    It's not that Rein Isn't fun to play in overwatch 2, it's that so many characters are not fun to play against. At the beginning of OW2, Rein was a blast because they removed most CC. Then they started bringing it back and you can't do much when you're hindered, slept, your pin gets suzued or lifegripped, etc.
    They've also been powercreeping with newer characters and reworked characters in a way that doesn't seem to fit. I remember when they added hindered to the McCree grenade and a lot of people hated it. Then they added hindered to Mei primary, Illari (a support with a better DPS ult than Genji) and Mauga ult.
    I had a lot of fun at the beginning of OW2 with Rein because the game felt faster, and he felt more viable. I could swing my hammer and be a genuine threat. Now the moment I pick Rein, all CC is thrown at me the moment I'm seen, what should've been fat pins get taken, my shield gets destroyed by Mauga, and in general the plays I used to be able to make are just kinda easily counterable with newer heroes. I don't play Rein in comp and I only play him in QP if I'm playing with my low rank friends. It sucks because Rein on paper fun and unique af, and he used to easily be the most fun tank.
    But nah, continue to buff Orisa Blizzard, she totally needs it.

    I'm right there with you. Rein was my favorite hero in ow1 and I really loved the ability I had to determine my own fate. Now rein is impossible and miserable to play. Feels awful

    I also think that while a lot of buff were aimed at other hero’s and their counters. More recent buffs have made rein that much worse. Then buff Winston so his primary ignored armours damage reduction. The buff Lifeweavers platform, rein can’t kill people through it. Orisa get buffed to have 0 falloff, so now she can sit back and snipe shield away. All of that it’s legit ONLY in the last month. It’s insane

    I think the biggest issue with rein is the fact that he is a melee character, but even if you get into melee range he just doesnt do enough.
    Yeah in really low rank lobbies where people just straight up w key into the tank and cant hit shots he can walk through a couple of enemies, but as soons as people learn to actually use high ground, play corners, or literally just walk backwards, its almost Impossible to actually get into range. And if you get into range? There are so many stun or cc abilities in the game and almost every single hero has some kind of movement ability, its extremely trivial to escape a Reinhardt. And even if they cant escape you, it still takes way to long to actually kill someone with all of the healing going around.

    I remember playing a comp game on Support and there was a Rein player who was turbo feeding so hard you'd think he had 3 stomachs to fill. I was on Ana and even with her, I couldn't keep him alive due to the sheer stupidity of his aggressive charging. We would've lost that game ages ago... If I hadn't pulled out Lifeweaver. I couldn't stop EVERY opportunity for him to charge haphazardly because Life Grip has a much longer cooldown than Charge, but I was able to stop a large portion of his deaths from carelessness.
    It made me hate Lifeweaver even more because all I did was stop my Rein from making stupid plays instead of making plays of my own. It's as Flats said, Lifeweaver and to a certain extent Kiriko can erase mistakes like lack of awareness with a cooldown and that is why I want Life Grip gone.

      Personally I think Life Grip is fine (in its current state) if it's on a very long cooldown. Same as lamp. Make em both 30s and then you really have to worry about 'saving' abilities again as Support. Or in LW's case; make it a shorter cooldown and remove the heal/distance someone can be pulled.
      There's ways of making it fairer but knowing how much Blizzard loves Support, odds are the ability will get buffed to include a cleanse in the future as well as a heal buff if the pull cleanses something.

      @@azseal2669 There is no fixing Life Grip. The ability is explicitly designed to rain on your parade. It's an ability that works stupidly well on a character that wants to stay as a fly on the wall. You make it shorter? You'll have to buff his survivability so he can have somewhat of a chance to survive being closer to the fight.
      The game needs less abilities that punish players for getting a punish on others. It is annoying and there is zero counterplay against it. Once they're gripped, there is NOTHING you can do to stop it.

    The issue with Rein is that you are forced to get right on top of the enemy and so many heroes you can’t really do that to, Orisa, Hog, Mauga, Rammatra, Doom all just shred,p your hp or drag and throw you around and unless you have complete coordination with your team you can do anything. I like being in peoples face and swinging the hammer because it’s satisfying and the aoe he has is really good. Its just he is so slow and the only movement he has is incredibly risky yo use because of how predictable it is, you get slept or stun traded or hooked. You end up being a shield bot and that is incredibly boring.

    Rein's whole purpose as a tank at the beginning was to be the most threatening dude on the field, stay away from him. The opposite is true now and it makes him completely useless. I think his survivability is fine if they would just rework him to be more of a close range threat again.

      They need to rework either suzu or lifegrip since it’s almost impossible to play around if the Kiri and lifeweaver are smart about cycling them. They shouldn’t exist in the game at the same time in their current state

    It's so annoying. Literally every game I play Rein and most of my tank games in general one of the DPS will switch to Bastion. Then I have to choose between DVA, Sig and Orisa and maybe Hog if the Bastion is super bad and the map is good. But I'm so tired of it. I wanna play Rein. I wanna llay Zarya. I wanna play Rein mirrors. But it's literally not possible if I want a chance at winning. Also when I play Ball or Doom theres always a Cass and/or a Sombra and their Supports switch too. With Ball and Doom I learned to play around that but what are you going to do being close range without mobility against a Bastion with two support glued to him?

      Damage boosted bastion and mauga hard counters Rein. I'd even argue Mauga can be worse, as you can bait Bastion's turret form. Mauga can focus you hard AND he got an unstoppable charge THAT STOPS REIN'S CHARGE. I love Rein, I hate having to either throw to continue playing him or choose a counter I don't want to play in qp lobbies.

      @@JoosyGrundle yep you're right and that's what I'm doing against bastion. But if my team isn't good enough to capitalize on the time windows where I can make space I have to swap or lose. I play almost all heroes on the same skill level (been playing since release) so I definitely can swap to whatever is needed but as you said I don't always want to swap to certain heroes. It's okay if I switch off Rein but I don't want to play Orisa for the 5th game in the row because the other heroes and the map don't allow for DVA or Sig. (And ngl I feel like Sig is as boring as Orisa)
      Edit: I play with others that aren't as experienced and thus with matchmaking being that broken due to crossplay and new players I have to carry a lot. Which is fine and I actually like it but I can't play whatever in that case. It's different when I play solo (which almost never happens). Also my MMR is probably messed up since I don't play comp

    Supports just need a huge overhaul, Get rid of the s granted by suzu & don't let it cleanse stuns, change bap immortality to something that either has dmg reduction or aoe healing, add to the tank role passive: Status effects last x amount of time less. The support role simply does too much. It needs to be better defined. Also for lifeweaver grip gotta just take that ability out and give him a new one its not healthy for the game whatsoever it feels like shit to play against and it feels like shit to get pulled yourself. In my humble opinion the support role should be limited to healing, buffing and debuffing. Supports should not be able to just do everything on their own like they can now. Will this ever happen? Easy answer, no this will never happen. I do believe if the dev team takes action and makes some massive changes this game could 100% go to a healthier state the ball is in their court.

    I've said it before and I'll say it again; his shatter should also be unstoppable and apply "weaken" to any target it hits. Basically making it so that anyone who gets shattered takes more damage from all sources for 1.5s. Make it uncleansable and boom, people will actually die if you get a decent shatter vs kiriko/lw/bap/ana.
    Alternatively his entire kit needs a rework and there's a lot of directions you can go in for that, they just don't wanna do it because Reinhardt is iconic as 'big german man with shield and hammer'.

    I'm not sure if Rein needs a rework, but for sure almost every character that's gone into the game since OW2's release counters him in some way or another. In my games where I'm not being counter-swapped I can still roll on Rein, its just rare for that to happen. Imo the way you make Rein fun again is not by reworking him or buffing him, but instead by nerfing the most egregious abilities to play against (suzu and life-grip being first on the chopping block).

    I've said from day one. Nothing should get through a Rein shield. The other team should not be able to clip through the shield to shoot him. It needs to be solid like a wall. This has always been a problem for him. At this point Mei makes a better tank. Her Wall has to be shot to destroy and can't be walked through.

    Can they at least make his pin more consistent to connect or throw him a small bone? They won’t give him a rework but surely it wouldn’t be hard to give him a few quality of life changes to fit with ow2 current standards. It feels like pins risk to reward ratio with stupidly high risk and a decent but incredibly inconsistent reward, adding onto that too with the addition of lots of over health and health pools being buffed for some heroes like Zen sometimes pins can’t even secure the kill because of the surpluses of over health and hp which makes it that much more annoying to play with. Summary is that if rein hits a pin on a squishy maybe excluding torb and bastion because of the high health pool and armor, the pin should kill.

      Hear me out, let Erin be able to pin MULTIPULE enemies but he gets a tad slower for each enemy in pin. Might fix the bowling pin scenario, but tbh I’m just spitballing at this point

    Rein needs a faster fire strike projectile speed. Or a faster cooldown for pin and firestrike. His kit is simple but incredibly effective when working with your team. Now if your team isn't talking, don't bother playing him.

    Used to main Rein back in the OW1 days and loved him. But lately, I've hardly touched him in OW2 because there doesn't seem to be a point. He's outclassed by most other tanks. If I went in with him for a charge or shatter, they'd get suzu'd by Kiri, pulled out by weaver or I would end up getting slept by Ana, bashed by brig, etc ... as flats said, his ultimate can be countered by cooldowns and you don't seem to get rewarded for being on the frontline and it sucks.
    He's just not a fun character anymore which is sad because who doesn't love hearing "Catch Phrase!" being spammed out every 2 seconds? .

    Yeah, Rein is in a state where he’s not even fun to play in QP. He just has way too many counters and they all come out either immediately or the second you win a single fight on Rein. I love him, but he might as well be like playing Widow with scope disabled and not allowed to swap.

    I loved and still love Reinhardt but he is just not the same in a solo tank game. He used to have so much to him but like many other tanks he didn't translate well to 5v5, I loved feel like the protector tank and supporting my team. It's not the same in OW2

    I feel like they should make reins shield work like old orisa where right click is shield but you click something like f and you place your shield down so you can melee and pretty much play around you shield kinda like a semi Winston

    Maybe unpopular opinion but imo OW2 support hero design is the real problem, not 5v5. 5v5 was fun as fuck at the start of OW2, but since then we've seen kiriko, illari and LW (bap pre-existing) who all have either invulnerabilities or extreme burst healing to the point where if a tank/dps makes a play, it can be neutralized with the click of a button, which is just awful to play against and it happens EVERY FIGHT. The only things that should keep someone alive with that much ease are ultimates. Imo support design should often be more focused on making offensive plays themselves than neutralizing other people's plays for free with a click of a button.

    Its not that rein is bad, he just gets countered too easily. Other team can easily swap Ram, orisa, mauga, bastion, reaper, mei, etc and make rein unplayable

    I fucking hate it when people say "JuSt FiNd A nEw GaMe" it's such a childish fuckin thing to say.
    Apparently you're the asshole when you feel any sort of negative emotion towards a certain aspect in the game that you somewhat enjoy. Is it wrong to be upset at the current state of a hero????

    Just like Mercy's passive before, why can't rein have the same thing but for the tank passive? You know, twice the effect. We call it "Crusader."

    Mentioning the 6v6 stuff, Rein needed Lucio or Bap along with Zarya to be fun in OW1. He’s always been one of the more team comp reliant tanks.
    Edit: you mention similar at the end, 6v6 wouldn’t necessarily solve the issues, although that’s because of support abilities.

    I think if they were to buff Rein or rework him a good start would be making pin either have damage reduction, an immunity to soft CC or maybe both. Blizz can do it cause Mauga has it on Overrun

    The only solution people have to this in the current system is to take away CC for rein which would be boring and making the gameplay even more stale, honestly 5v5 is hella bogging down the depth of the game.

    I’m gonna be honest with you guys, I’ve been playing rein since release and last year went rein only. I spectate every rein I play against and it looks like they are moving in slow motion. I shit you not, but it doesn’t matter. Only way I roll is if my supports are better. Game blows

    rein damage increase he is a melee tank after all and in other games melee characters are slightly stronger since they have to be in melee range after all so yeah he needs to be buffed and be a threat , that or give him knockback on his swings with like a small stun.

    Going through the comments it's all about the same thing, everyone mentions something about suzu or grip. Those are the abilities that need to be reworked not entirely just rein although he definitely does need something, and hot take for me is that the abilities are almost as bad if not worse than insta rez mercy🤷‍♂️
    More than half of the problems that OW2 has is the abilities that just completely remove being able to be eliminated, suzu, lamp, grip, teleport, these definitely need to be looked at. My solution for grip at least, would instead of pulling them it would act like a weaker Zarya bubble where they would have some type damage reduction for a second or two. Just some type of rework for these abilities would make the game better.
