Fourteen years ago I came off the road after 40 years. Four years later I started driving a 26 foot box three days a week for a non-profit in Portland, OR. I get about 150 miles a day running around the Portland area picking up donations from stores (like Costco) and manufacturers and wholesalers (mostly food, but other stuff as well). The other day while riding in the car with three of my grandchildren (16, 14 and 13) one of the girls asked me a question I had never thought of before. She said "Grandpa, what did you like most about driving truck?" I really had to think about that for a while. Then I said: "Driving. I just like driving. Truck or car, for some reason I just like driving." I thought about that yesterday as I was driving on I205 and US 99 along the Willamette River. I just enjoy driving. I think that is why I enjoy your channel so much. Vicarious driving. 😁

Have you ever crossed the Mississippi on US-62/60 ? It is where the Ohio river joins. Mildly scenic and VERY narrow bridge form MO to IL

Back in the late 70’s, my junior high mathematics students “Math-a-Thon” a competition and fund raiser for St. Jude’s. It was great fun for them because they enjoyed math, believe it or not.

We went into the pyramid when the Titanic display was on, and of course Mud island when the Mephis belle was there. Think that was 1996

I can say I've spent many nights at that truck stop and the others nearby, was lucky never had a problem. REMEMBER TO ALWAYS LOCK YOUR DOORS WHEN YOU LEAVE THE TRUCK NO MATTER HOW LONG YOU ARE GONE.

Merritt Parkway in Ct also bans trucks. But they have lifted the ban in place for utility trucks in the past due to storms.

Ugh, Big Bass Pro Shops. Know they are basically the all the same inside, but just help going in. The one in Nashville had a restaurant I think. And one also in Illinois. 😂

I might be hitting the road again as a trucker after first of the year. I can't afford to stay retired. Plus, I'm bored out of my ever-loving mind, having nothing to do. Kids are gone, wife to. Just driving around town doing routine errands and shopping and channel surfing. Gets old fast. Downside, is ill be a 61-year-old rookie again..lol. Maybe after a year there I'll see you guys at Crete somewhere.

The Memphis Pyramid, formerly known as the Great American Pyramid and the Pyramid Arena, and colloquially known as the Bass Pro Shops Pyramid, is a pyramid-shaped building located in downtown Memphis, Tennessee, United States, at the bank of the Mississippi River. Been inside to visit Bass Pro. 90% is open space above the sales floor and is HUGE. There's an elevator to a roof observation deck and a hotel inside.

I too have been to W. Memphis. The “mega-carrier” I drove for had a terminal there also.
I can honestly say, I don’t scare easily. But that area was one I did not like, nor felt comfortable in. If I had to spend the night at a truck stop there. I got my 10 hours in and left as soon as I had my hours back.
    Thanks for the video.
