    Brett: "Would you prefer out in 22 or back in 23?"
    David: "Both! Why not!"
    🤣🤣🤣 love the confidence!

      His splits at European Juniors were 22.97 - 24.33 (47.30)
      So, honestly I would say simply an honest plausible progression, would be: 22.9 - 23.9 (46.8) WR

      I was close. In his Semi-Final he was home in 24.05, on his WR in the Final he was 24.14.

      @The Raul - Not at all, of course his 22.7-24.1 was awesome, but I still say 22.9-23.9 would have been even more spectacular.
      At Paris he comes home in 23, guaranteed. But I would NOT bet against him doing it already in 2023.

    Oh, David, you are really a breath of fresh air... so confident without being arrogant, so inspiring in everything you say, well-educated, so intelligent (I would say genius, but I don't want to spoil you in any way), so down to earth without being pessimistic, hopeful and a dreamer at the same time that might seem like a paradox, but, in fact, that just brings out your charming and complex personality, so well-spoken, wise at 16 like no one I've seen before (excepting maybe Nadia)! Pour all these over your fantastic swimming skills and here we've got the right potion for a real champion that is going to conquer the world fast. I think you should start visualizing stepping on the Moon, Mars or whatever planet you might want to reach, because that's where you are heading to. I want to congratulate your family, your coaches, all the people that have helped you in this journey, all your friends, because they have realized they have a gem to deal with, so they have looked after you in an absolutely amazing way and kept you on track. Because I am Romanian, I must say I think I have never been so excited by a Romanian athlete, since Nadia Comâneci, Gheorghe Hagi, Ilie Năstase, Ivan Patzaichin, Gabriela Szabo, Cristina Neagu, Simona Halep. I didn't wake up at 4 am, because I couldn't sleep at all. I didn't miss any event you were in! Îţi mulţumesc, David! Eşti minunat şi am mare încredere în tine! Steagul nostru pe casca ta se simte foarte bine! Sunt foarte mândră de tine, deşi nu am niciun merit!

    I was impressed with his answer to going ncaa or not. Recognizing that what you have around you is great/working and the grass isn't necessarily greener on the other side is a pretty advanced idea at his age, maybe any age.

    This guy is going to be so fun to watch in the upcoming years. Speed in the shorter distance events at his age is so rare and in the next few years his muscles are going to get way stronger as is the inevitability of nature. The natural strength you'll have when your 20 is way greater than 16 and this kid obviously trains his heart out. Put talent, will power, hard work, with the good know how and understanding of the sport, and you get a super star. I really hope this guy turns out to be the one who erases the remaining polyurethane records in the shorter freestyle events. The polyurethane records from 2009 in the 50 and the 200 have to go. Maybe this is the guy who will do it!

    50:45 --- I think that Zhang Lin's 800m freestyle is the hardest world record

      I know we’re not counting yards cuz only the US swims it but Dressel’s 50 free is the hardest record in my opinion. For meters it’s the women’s 200 fly and for the men’s side I’m not too sure so the 8 free sounds pretty good to me.

      @@David_7171 well to be in college or a professional sports team all alone at age 16 nay be breaking the law. Maybe he could live with a swimming family. Living with a coach could cause questions like with swimming or gymnastics with coaches. A swimming family would be like living with a host family exchange student arrangement.

    • @PIANOPHUNGUY
      @PIANOPHUNGUY 3 роки тому +2

      If he wants to get on a high school team, there are 6 high school teams In my town with swim teams as well as water polo. I bet a host family could host him. Here in orange county CA. Also a couple of well known swim clubs in the county. Most of them have a 50 meter pool.

      Actually Jason lezak is a high school coach at a school here in the county. Also a former coach at nova and USC is a coach at a jr college nearby as well.
