I don't think Eren would be doing this if he could have found a less "final" option but when literally the entire world wants to end your people even after not doing anything for so long I can see where he comes from. Obviously there are innocents dying on both sides and ending the cycle of hatred with the smallest number of casualties is the ideal option (AKA Eldian genocide) but we watched the show from their perspective and so we agree with them more than the other guys.
Yeah, I agree, Eren definitely did it for a good cause, it's sad to see Eren making everyone hate him, and having to murder others to gain freedom.
