Thank you Liz! I feel so lucky to be able to purchase one of your "Finding Alaska". In 2009 my parents treated my sister & her family, and myself to a cruise to Alaska, and it is still the most cherished memory I have!! This journal brings back so many precious memories!! Alaska's rustic beauty still calls me to return someday. 🐱💕
Aww, thank YOU Sandra. Yes, "rustic beauty" is a wonderful way to describe it. I'm so happy to have captured just a bit of it in these journals and so pleased it evokes such good memories for you. Hugs :-)
These are really amazing -- so much thought and detail went into them!! My mother-in-law worked in Juneau as a Registered Nurse right after WWII ended. She had many wonderful photos and had them in a great photo album with captions. I really should get them scanned!!
I love the bear one! The Kodiak Brown Bear is my spirit animal. I was born in Kodiak, Alaska before it was a state. I lived there till I was 9. I have alot of pictures and Alaska has a big piece of my heart. These are wonderful. Sorry its sold! ☹️ love what you do! Carol Siddall
Hi, Mrs. Cog. Sweet journals! I actually live in the Yukon, Canada, and I'm a 3.5 hour drive north of the capital of Alaska (Juneau). Fun to see someone take some interest in The North. :)
Well Mrs Cog, I also stopped in to see your work and I must say, your journals are most amazing! I love that you found the book and included pages in the smaller journals! Very very well done. Tfs🤗👏🏼👏🏼
Oh I wish I saw this in time to buy one. I lived in Alaska for 24 years. The last trip my Mom took with my daughter was to the Iditarod 4 months before she suddenly passed away. Maybe I will have to take either your class or Nik the booksmith and make my own. Thanks for the great inspiration. The dogs they use today for sled races are mainly Huskies not Malamutes (not sure when the breed changed).
Thoroughly enjoyed looking through this journal with you!! I wish you had the time to share every page that had a fact on it with us. I felt like it was a "bedtime story" but one with wonderful facts that I always love to learn. Thank you for making such wonderful journals and sharing them with us! What a treat!!
Wow, your work is amazing. Always takes my breath away. I am an animal lover and these books had a lot of animals. My Dad loved Alaska, you did a wonderful job represtenting Alaska! Thanks for sharing! Oh, it is the Siberian Husky that are the main sled dogs, they use Malamutes also but they are heavier dog and not as aero dynamic. We had Huskies growing up and I was lucky enough to work with some Huskies at girls camp I worked with. The sled was on wheels and they dogs loved pulling it in summer!!
Hello there Mrs. cog I love your Journals all of them, they’re so amazing and you’re so gifted. I’m starting out, just made a journal for my Sunday school teacher/ friend who also happens to be a retired school teacher. I’ve learned so much from you and your videos. Love to hear you too your voice is so very relaxing to listen to... 😌☺️ please keep sharing!
Beautiful journals Liz. It’s wonderful hearing about Alaska and the sled dogs Did giggle at the wee ones on the school roof in the snow. Bless them Need this collection. Stunning pictures Hugs and love xxx
Thank you Stella. I watched your winter journal flip through as I was finishing these. My fingers were too gluey and inked to comment, but so pretty!! Hugs! :-)
Wow just Wow! You are in incredible inspiration. Looks like the journals were scooped up immediately, oh well maybe another time. I’ve been collecting to put together a state jj, this was sooo amazingly helpful to watch.
I bought one of these journals cause they remind me of all the trips I've taken to Alaska to visit my sister (who lives outside of Anchorage). Love them. TFS
I love them all! Such a gorgeous collection with unusual theme. You always come up with great ideas for your journals. But I still think I have the best one, lol! And I enjoy journaling in it! :)
Thank you so much Sonja! And it warms my heart to know you are enjoying it. I adore the one you sent me and oh those handmade papers! Keeping you in my thoughts dear. Big hugs! :-)
They were fabulous! WoW! You are the best! Okay, I finally have my journal pages tea dyed. I ordered a lost cord for my sewing machine. I’m just practicing trying to get my zig zag stitches smaller and squished like yours. 🥰 I love the way your thread color goes with your tea stain. I think I remember you saying you use dual purpose thread. But, what color is the thread? There are so many different colors, mine don’t seem to go very well. After watching tutorials for over a year on making journals, I’m almost ready to launch! Color of the thread? Please, and thank you!
Thank you Shelley! I use off white colors of thread, mostly called "buff" or "natural" and yes dual purpose or all purpose thread. I always keep an index card at my sewing machine to test the first zig zag stitches after loading a bobbin or changing the thread before I start in on my pages. Happy journal making! :-)
as always, what a wonderful set of beautiful journals. makes me wonder what makes you choose the subjects of your various journal? your skills are amazing and your voice is so soothing. thank you, Liz. I am sitting here watching some of your vids and looking for the one where you first make paperclip beads. need refresher lol love anything you make. if you played a flute and started walking down junk journal lane, we'd all start to walk along behind you! funny image, huh? XOXOJANE
Thank you! The big gold paper clips are called Trombones. Some (not all) Michael's Crafts have them in a multi-size pack. Staples carries large ones. I just use a pair off round nose jewelry pliers to curl the end. :-)
Brrrrr..... Hate the cold, but love the journals
I so much appreciate both your love for Alaska & junk journals💮🏂⛷️🤾🧓

Your Alaska journal are precious, are they sold out.
Those men may have been picking up their pay at the post office since it was probably the only official building. Just a thought.
Pls tell me what song is that? I love it. Sooo relaxing.
Edit: Wrong title and link, this is it: The song is River's Gonna Cry by Loving Caliber ua-cam.com/video/QRvmIQXlShM/v-deo.html
