The reason that the tassels wasn’t died enough might have been because they are made of a different material, which doesn’t soak up that much.

So I also dye my thifted clothes. I think those strings were made out of polyester. To dye synthetics you going to need to use heat during the dying process and I would recommend "RIT Dye MORE" which is the same brand you were using but formulated for synthetics.

I wonder if you can weave some fake vines with tiny leaves. 🤔With some green and brown wool for the rest and You can use the tassels to make a bag or mini things to give to people.

There are also ribbons that look like leafy vines! I think I got them at Joann's, too, which has shops in her location. I don't know if they'll still have them, but they were really easy to work with!

Having recently dyed something that was 100% polyester, I would highly recommend Jaquard iDye. Doesn't take as well on natural fabrics (but they dye well with normal fabric dyes anyway), but they dye synthetics really well. Even when I reduced the temperature, due to fear of melting a lacey dress, it still worked well. Good luck.

The tassels look like a synthetic fibre, and I nearly died when you didn’t put them in a wash bag to wash. I can only image how they looked when the cycles was done. 😂

Your tassel look like nylon, you'll need special synthetic/nylon dye

Did you use the synthetic material dye for the tassels? It will help them dye much better

Natural dye for natural materials. Synthetic dye for synthetics.

Attach a safety pin to the end of your strings for easier rethreading.

Tassels are probably synthetic material, there are dyes that are made specially for synthetics that might dye them better

THIS! Use dye specifically for synthetic material, you'll have to boil it. It works really well if you follow the instructions (I've used RIT dye)

Double check the tag to see if they tassels are a synthetic fiber, if they are you have to use a special dye for it

I know I'm late lol i binging and catching up on all these now 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣 lol so i haven't seen outcome yet but just by looking at the shirt, 😬 i feel like you will also need to dye it again cause i can see that theres some yellow-ish spot throughout it. I hope it will even out in wash but I'm afraid its not gonna work & another round will be imminent, same as the tassels. 😬😔✌🏻✌🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻

those tassels look like they are synthetic fibers, so it likely isn't going to take the dye, could you buy a spool of cotton cord instead and dye, or maybe just use some green yarn you already have? 🙂

The tassels are probably nylon, it doesn't take well. If i were you I'd find some dark green yarn and just replace it.

My heart when you threw the loose tassels in the wash without putting them in a nylon or anything. Theyre gonna be a knotted mess.

Did a good job. When I die things because it's an investment I think about other things that I could also died to get the most out of my buck

Oh, girl. I know you didn't just throw all those tassels into the washing machine without a pillowcase. You're going to be untangling those for a magnitude longer than the rest of the project. D:
