I watch a lot of astrophotography videos, some are very technical, others have amazing equipment and others display amazing images but only your videos Pat capture the excitement and wonder of this mind blowing and awesome hobby of photographing the night sky. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and images.

      Hi Leon,
Wow, thank you for that super compliment. I do have to admitt, I get excited over astronomy and thinking about the wonders of creation. I enjoy putting these video together so that I can share that excitment. Again, thank you for watching my video and your comment.

Hi Pat, I totally agree with Leon's comments, love what you do and i can see you're a young bloke like myself. I have gone from the big to small and portable gear nowadays. I 'm using SVBony 70mm ED refractor, saw your review of the 80mm bigger brother, great scopes for the money. Technology is amazing and what we can do, greetings from Australia.

Yes, that SvBony is a nice scope. So you are in the season of long nights now. 'Clear skies' to you.

Thanks for making this video Pat. I love seeing other Astro photographers complete workflows. Really good stuff. Great images as well. I imaged M31 recently as well... WOW the Galaxy image.. is crazy.. Look up RA13:00:22 DEC 28:02:08 in Coma Berneces, a ton of galaxies there as well. CS

Thanks, Jason. It took forever to compose and edit this video, trying to keep it at a respectable length in time. 37 minutes is my longest video to date. If I didn't edit it, it would have been somewhere around 90 minutes!!!
You are correct ... it's just insane to how many galaxies that are out there that WE CAN SEE from our own backyards! I wonder how many more you can see from Apha Scorpii? I have been extremely busy with the heavenly backyard garden and also keeping up with my weather UA-cam channel, but I have your "Alpha Scorpii Palooza 2023. Imaging NGC7023" video on my Watch Later List. I am looking forward to viewing it ... hopefully today.

Great images and video! One comment, though. You should probably run BlurXTerminator before you permanently stretch the image with Histogram Transformation. BlurXTerminator works best on linear images.

Hey Pat, Great work and thanks for sharing. Workflow and captures. I loved the method you used in PIxinsight for annotating the images, that was awesome. Thanks again. DJ

Excellent video Pat, nicely done! Superb images! Wow, those galaxies are as you say, just mind blowing! If there is intelligent life out there looking back at us, do you think they’ll have a garden as nice as yours?🤣🤣 Great work flow Pat, clear skies mate 👍

      Hi Simon,
It's always great to hear from you. I've seen you a few times in Glenn Clouder's yard helping him with his observatory build. Well, the garden is coming along nicely. It certainly keeps me off the streets with all the care and maintenance needed. If "they" are looking back at us, I am sure "they" too are lovers of nature and would cultivate their natural habitat. Do you have any dark times this time of the year to do any observing?

@@HeavenlyBackyardAstronomy Hi Pat, yeah I’ve helped Glenn a couple of times! That’s really coming along nicely now! My Astro imaging time is getting limited now, it’s not properly dark until 11:15 - 02:30 and it gets worse until June 21st!! But we make the best of it, hopefully will have a vid to put out soon! Clear skies Pat👍

Just found your channel and loving it! I just got a 7-8" telescope, just waiting for clear skies down in Houston. Gonna use your tutorial to edit photos of planets, hopefully for Venus soon.

    • @HeavenlyBackyardAstronomy
      @HeavenlyBackyardAstronomy  Рік тому +1

You're gonna love it! Watch out for Venus ... it is extremely bright through the scope. You will need to use the lowest gain and extremly short exposure for Venus. Have you downloaded AutoStakkert yet? Also, go get RegiStax 6 while you are at it. They are both free.

@@HeavenlyBackyardAstronomy I'm planning on grabbing both as soon as I've got the footage. I've got a moon filter I was planning on trying for Venus, otherwise low exposure yep. I'm a total noob, only got a phone at the moment but I'll see if I can't get a half decent pic! I've also got a nice low light pollution spot about 40 minutes away that I'll head to for some milky way shots, as soon as the moon isn't out.

Shouldn’t be capturing supernova? This is popular topic now.
Why do you use DSS? If you use Pixinsight, stacking needs to be with WBPP in Pixinsight to maximize your captures. Additionally, you will evaluate frames for FWHM and eccentricity in PI. This will tell you quality of sky and your set up.
Stretching before ABE should be unlinked. This will help with color calibration and more natural colors of cluster and galaxies. Otherwise, you will be setting artificial cheese colors.
Clusters are high dynamic range picture. Some post processing tackling this could be added to increase quality of final picture.

      Hi Craig,
Thank you for watching my video. I am glad I was able to share some of my editing insights with you. I still need to learn more within PixInsight. Some people do all their editing in PI and never revert to Photoshop for their final image.
