People don't like this game because the gameplay and art look like absolute crap, not because of a character's race or gender. I play games all the time where you play as white people, black people, Asian people, men, women, LGBT characters, cis straight characters, etc. I don't care who I play as as long as the gameplay is fun, the story is at least decent, and the game doesn't look like a dumpster heap. Stop caring so much about race. After all, racism can only be solved if all the boundaries between the races are closed and race itself as a concept no longer exists like how it was back during the antiquity.

This style is hardly corporate. Corporate styles are much more abstract and have little to no soul- this clearly does. A simple color scheme does not mean a corporate style, just a good understanding of color theory and design.

Nothing against non-binary pronouns like what other commenters are saying, but I just do not get why they wouldn't just work it into the dialogue instead? It's supposed to be a story right? Like in real life, where people address each other using their pronouns, where you do not have a name card or Twitter handle that states them. Would also feel more accepting? I'm so confused.
I'm like saints row the 3rd handle it perfectly. And they weren't even trying to be Non Binary.

Any sexless or even a both-sexes creature must be spoken with singulars in grammar. People can have different names, which makes more sense than picking the preferred pronouns.
As a non-binary person, I personally don't mind the inclusion of pronoun subtitles for dialogue. It's nice to be included in anything at all haha

@@billcipher8645 I got most of the information from the Nintendo Direct which showed actual gameplay and more story. Also the game has been out for over a year on Netflix of all things so we know what the gameplay is like. And yes, the art is terrible. It looks like a poor quality AI tried to auto-generate art in the style of Hades and failed miserably. It literally looks like stuff that ZeeFixesArt would draw minus every character being fat and black. Terrible quality, no shading, messy and clashing colors, awful line management, etc. So bad.

It is actually polite to call people by name, even with the honorifics. That is how the Japanese talk to people. I was told that there are languages where the pronouns are limited when comparing them to English.

Wow, this game looks phenomenal! Aesthetically pleasing, and a mysterious and atmospheric story. Sad there’s no gameplay footage in this particular trailer, but oh well. Can’t wait to pick this up on launch and play it with my kids!

It makes no sense to have character pronouns in a game tho, you are literally not gonna use them, it matters in real life not in games
The fact they put it in the games, means the developers are trying to pander, pandering most of the time is just a business practice to attract more customers, it isn't actually respectful, and enby folks fall for it
This also applies to games with sexualised women/men, they are only doing to pander, it's not an issue really but it tells you the developer is into business practices like this, and i personally dislike it
The gameplay for this actually looked interesting in the indieworld direct. Shame this is just a story animation that doesn't showcase it aswell, cuz it just draws antiSJW morons to it like flies.

@@sigvif The only one worse I can think of was the infamous "mighty number 9" trailer where they directly insulted their fans. Or maybe the various trailers where the devs directly lied to the fans about the specs? Like basically any game from Ubisoft and Aliens Colonial Marines. If you're talking about non-game trailers the trailer for High Guardian Spice was god awful showing basically nothing about the show and just praising itself for being "so woke and diverse" while showing a team made up entirely by white cis straight women and one trans man. But overall this is easily one of the worst trailers shown in a Nintendo direct ever along with the various cringe Yokai Watch skits shown in 2015. The art is terrible, the gameplay looks god-awful, and there's pronouns next to every characters name when you can easily just have the characters pronouns appear in dialogue referring to them and that's it. I actively laughed out loud when I saw the art. It was like a low-quality AI tried to redraw sprites in the style of Hades and failed misirably.

Can black people not be shoehorned with that Steven Universe purplish black for like five seconds? Same goes with the Twitter handle text boxes. Like is it that important we know their pronouns? Is it pivotal to the story, is it gonna be addressed? No? So why? I don't have a problem with multiple genders, but I have a problem with the unnecessary shoehorning.

Like, a good half of my protags are brown and even in a fantasy world with very few actually black people (due to lore reasons) I still try to include black characters here to there. I support the LGBT completely but including pronouns in every text box is completely unessesary when you can just do that naturally in dialogue.
Warning: This game has characters with the pronouns at around their names, which is a bad way to create profiles.

That's good advice for major video game and media companies but good luck telling indie developers that since they aren't really restricted by people at the top concerning what they can and can't make. Because they're their own people at the top. And since they're an indie studio even pandering to a niche audience such as the SJW crowd will give them profits.

This isn't good NB rep. Juniper from XB3 and all the various reps from Fire Emblem are good rep. (Shiver too if they weren't censored) You don't need to list character pronouns in their name tag when they're right there in the dialogue.

If they were just trying to include it to lure the NB crowd in they would nearly constantly say "hey y'all we got NB characters look at them" and then proceed to have them be a side character with no character growth/development whatsoever (ex: most LGBTQIA+ rep in Disney movies)
If they are an actually fleshed out character then it is genuine representation
