    This video has been so helpful and encouraging! I’m almost 26 years old and only applying for my undergrad for next year. 😭 I am from North Bay, currently living in Sudbury, and I studied pre-health science at Canadore College almost 10 years ago now, and procrastinated my education due to no support or encouragement around me. Wish I had listened to myself earlier but I can’t change the past, only the future!

      That is fantastic! Congrats on taking that big first step with undergraduate! Cannot stress enough how awesome a mentor is when family or friends are not the most supportive! 💕 Good luck on your journey!

    Today I passed my last exam. Now I need to do one year rotation in the hospital to become a doctor. I started 7 years later than most of other students. You can do this! I'm still in shock:D

    Nice interview. I started medical school at age 21, but one of my classmates was 51. If you have the work ethic and desire, age is just a number.

    Great video and inspiration! I’ve been a paramedic for 17 years right now. Just started my premed path! Glad to see others who are considered “older” starting their path!

    such a fantastic video, thank you for sharing stories like this! Been trying to get into med in Canada for 5 years now and it’s inspiring to hear from people who had to figure it out on their own

    Hey Gianluca, great video as always. I wanted to get your opinion on tattoos in the Canadian medical field. Are they considered unprofessional even if they can be covered up with long sleeves. Thanks :)

    • @nxtgenmd
      @nxtgenmd  2 роки тому +2

      Hi Hashmeet I'm glad that the video was helpful :) I think that the concept of "medical professionals with tattoos" has really evolved in the last 10 years. I know many doctors who have visible tattoos and one really awesome emerging doc with the coolest sleeve I've ever seen 🤙 I think the general rule is basically "nothing offensive and you're probably good." On the other hand, there are still older faculty members/staff and patients that still frown on tattoos. If people can't see it, then you really have nothing to worry about.
      Hope that helps!

    During the MMIs, did they ask why you didn’t pursue the NP route? If yes, how did she reply and other questions relating to her switch from Nursing to MD.

    • @nxtgenmd
      @nxtgenmd  2 роки тому +2

      Hi Zain :) Unfortunately during the MMI's they have us sign a confidentiality agreement so that we cannot talk about any specifics of what was asked. What I will say is that if I were to interview a student who had previously worked as a nurse, I would definitely ask a very simple "what made you apply to medical school" question.
      Crystal if you see this, maybe you can expand on how you'd answer the whole "why medical school" question and what nursing students / professionals should practice before the interview in a general sense. 🤙

      Hey Zain! Yes- I can say this question comes up with family and friends a lot too- so it’s easy to get an idea formed in your head. For me- I didn’t want a better job- I love nursing- just more responsibility and expanded skill set. Hope this helps! 💕
