When you fight on foot against soldiers with shields. The easiest way to get them out of intablock mode is to hold W, as if you push it, it makes them try to land a hit. Also, if he is using a thrown weapon, it will mini stun them leaving him vulnerable to a sword slash.
Yeah it's nice to return the mini stun favor! The only thing about that is the AI is decent about pulling their sidearm out quickly. Thanks for watching!!
Another good use for horse-strafing is during (the first round of) a tournament. When there are lost of cavs in the round, they usually have a traffic-jam situation in the arena near an obstacle (for example the space between the broken-down cart and the wall). If you are equipped with a pole-arm it is much better to turn your horses-head towards the middle of the arena and then strafe towards the traffic-jam. When close enough, start pricking anything you can prick and the moment you see the jam come apart, give your horse the spurs and ride away to 'safety'. This works well because you don't have your horses-head in the way of your pole-arm (pricking to the side is easier aiming than pricking towards the front) and you can get out of the jam whenever you want to (turning your horse around and then ride off takes a lot more time).
Fighting archers and javelins on horseback (and to a lesser extent on foot) is easier if you weave in a very slight S pattern, they aim where you're going to be if you keep going the way you were, and by weaving you can throw their aim off almost all of the time.
I would like to add extra tip, with two-handed axe you can swing not only threw infantry, but horse as well and none of cavalry able to block attack under their butt.
I never knew about the bumping mini stun when it came to throwing weapons. This happens a lot to me when using throwing knives in town and now I know why. Great video as always and I'll be enjoying the cliff jumping calvary tomorrow.
Oh man it's the most rage inducing thing ever lol just stun-locked and can't do anything but run! Yeah it took me many hours to figure that one out. I always knew something was going on, but I couldn't tell what was causing it. Thanks for watching and enjoy the showers of horses lol
a channel called spartan gaming also found something similar to el matador using a spicific sturgian castle map. the units will just fall to their death from a cliff. and the even funnier thing is that you don't even need to do anything special. you just sit with your shield up.
oh wow I went in with this video thinking I knew all about these tips, but I didn't think about trying to cheese sieges by soloing them, that's pretty neat. I always make it a point to commit to a siege because they're a fun spectacle but sometimes it gets old and you just want to get it over with without losing troops.
I tried to include a couple of the more obscure tips in this one, something for everyone :D Yeah I know what you mean, it can be frustrating losing so many troops to a siege. Thanks for watching!
You have no idea how grateful i am for learning about the mini-stun. My character is focused on javelin throwing, and i use them for melee as well since the shorter the spear the more effective it is, however often enemies are able to close the distance and my character was consistently getting obliterated by even pesants because i literally could not do anything without "triping". i never realised this only happened while i was still in ranged mode and always assumed it was annoying bug
Oh man it took me forever to figure that one out! I was soooo annoyed that I could do anything when getting charged, even with a shield out! It was so crazy. Then I was watching some recordings back for a video and it clicked lol
Nice as I suck at combat so needed these. I love the force siege defense technique, i use it in executioner campaign and never need to leave my towns and get constant battles
brilliant tips, ill leave a tip for you too, use a pike against infantry units in a siege by aiming up the stairs. they gain vertical speed and if they fall of the side, which they will, then you insta kill infantry as you make a shiskebab
Id give ten likes just for the cav dump at the start ! Small added tip, with a 2H lengthy axe you can cleave, sure, but if you plow into a infantry line while mounted swinging for their heads horizontally nets great results.

For those who wonder why Z doesn't work for dismount: You probably changed the key binding because it's the "crouch" button ...or you use a german keyboard, in this case it's Y ...or both... like me 😅🤦🏻♂️
Oooh shoot, I didn't realize I might have changed the hotkeys... It would have been when I first installed the game years ago, I don't fiddle with them once I learn the keys. My mistake, I'll double check to see what I have it mapped to and leave a pinned comment. Thank you for pointing that out, good catch!!
Not sure Z is default for crouch on a QWERTY keyboard. At least I never remembered it being Z. It's usually either C or left CTRL. Z is dismount. I believe Europe uses a different standard keyboard layout.
I accidentally found the Matador technique during a cliffside battle where I was outnumbered, and hilarity ensued. One quick question: does swapping the ranged weapon (ie javelin) to melee mode cancel the quick stun risk?
Lol yeah I think the first time it happened for me I was trying to get Dirthert off my tail and to my shock he just went flying lol Yeah switching to melee mode stops the stuns!
I am thinking most of these have made it over to "full release". Really impressive video, made me want to play it, even tho I am struggling mightily. Any plans to do console specific videos? I might just get a keyboard for this game.
Thanks for watching! I don't own any consoles at the moment but am considering it. For now I'll keep to PC though. It would be a good idea for me to at least know the controls because I get a lot of questions about that.
I'm not sure if this actually works, but jumping on horseback and shooting an arrow improves accuracy because you are not being moved up and down from the galloping horse. Plus, you keep your momentum. Again, not sure if this is actually the case. It would be worth investigating.
Amazing my friend! some tips i knew it but not otheres. I couldnt stop laugh about the horses going down! hahaha Excelent video! I cant wait to see you in a campaing!
Lance is traditionally 0 investment over horsemanship in m&b games- in bannerlord it is essentially an xp farm as xp is based on damage. Their dps so to speak is trash but they will eat through a shield too. Tl;dr gives you something to do as a non warrior vs cavalry as you can't run them over.
@@Strat-Guides Not only was it helpful, but also inspired me to reinstall Boyarlord and start a fresh campaign. GOG Galaxy struggling with the download as I write this.

Would love to hear some good feedback on it for improvement though!
@@Strat-Guides I'll get you more feedback when my friends come back from vacation, but I was confused by it at first, and was honestly like, "What in the world...?" (slightly negative) until I saw it actually related to the video, and wasn't just weird randomness. I think that effect can work though, as it gives you the "Aha!" moment that's pretty neat.
Also, it looks like for the units lost on breaking in uses a taleworld math where each unit variety gets a dice roll, not based on overall unit numbers. Essentially each unit that gets removed from army would be taken away after throwing a dice roll on unit variety (so if you were to have 10 unit variety with 1 good troop, chance of something taken away from that troop would be 10% unless the unit variety decrease. This should be testable by just savescumming and using break in option over and over until you think you have decent number of data.
Yeah exactly, it wasn't an even number for each group even though they all started with the same number. I'm not sure if higher tier has less weight? Or maybe even the ones towards the top have a different weight? You just never know with TW lol
Well, yesterday playing with the ability to make the horse move sideways, I discovered that you can make it climb the steps of the cities in this way. Something that refuses to do it frontally.
Oh cool, time for some castle parkour! lol Yeah I noticed that, the stairs block forward movement so I usually just turn around back walk backwards up the stairs. TW maths I guess?
As of patch 1.8, kicks are much easier to land against an AI opponent since for some reason in this patch the AI loves to get as close as to you regardless of the equipped weapon reach. If you have a weapon with fast swinging speed, a kick quickly followed by an overhead strike is almost always a guaranteed free hit. Also when fighting outnumbered against shielded infantry, there's a chance that an attack gets blocked by a shield held by another infantry behind the one you are targeting. This happens more often when using a weapon with longer reach and not spacing out far enough.
Lol that's true, they are like rabbit animals trying to bite you lol Good point about the overhead, it seems to be the most reliable. Actually, you can chamber the swing before you kick, then release it almost at the same time the kick lands and it's impossible to block. The shields from the side/behind blocking is so annoying! I've been overrun before because I couldn't deal with all the shields even with kicks lol sad times :(
I think it used to be a little bit easier, seems like the AI archers are a bit more accurate now but it's still doable with a good set or armor :) I think certain towns are even better since they don't have archer groups sitting near the entrance and you can get into the walls without taking 1000 shots lol Thanks for watching!
It's soooo funny!! This specific map was near Charas in Southern Vlandia, to east to the coast line and you'll spawn on it :) There are other maps, some inland too that this works with but I can't recall where they were and I spent over an hour looking before giving up lol

Hey! im curious where are you from? I Noticed you said in the end of the video "Obrigado " which is thank you in my native language, Portuguese. Great video as always keep it up!
I like to combine the cavalry tips with the "5000 IQ Berserker Strat" of swinging behind you (From Guiden's meme videos) and a custom long-shafted Voulge for a polearm, backed up by a similarly long-hafted two-hander of an axe. On foot, just run away and scythe behind you. On the charge, you can couch and run through or just run along that outer line of infantry, swinging wildly in the direction of your charge, to cause tons of "cleave-through" headshot damage. The axe is for breaking shields, with appropriate perks. The downside to this is that you have no shield, so don't try it until you've got suitably massive armor, but you can still take a bow or crossbow, which helps. Then loot all butter after the battle for Swadian energy.
@@Strat-Guides Couldn't tell ya. Never tested it a major battle. My main strat is to weaken the enemy by charging WAY ahead first on the fastest horse I can get, taking out missile cavalry, headhunting some generals if I can, and avoiding the dreaded red "Couch lance strike" by turning aside at the last moment so they clothesline themselves on either the blade or the pole. Bonus points for impressive tumbles and max damage at full tilt. It really is a LOT of fun. Like dogfighting with jets, but on horses. And once part of the weakened enemy army is focused on me, I charge them in the back with ALL the heavy cavalry. Not because it's the most effective, not with the AI turning around like it does, but because it's absolutely glorious to watch cavalry smash things.
If you spam the kick button (i think its E originally) instead of doubletapping W while sitting on a horse you get to max speed even faster than just double tapping. Also you dont have to hold z for dismounting, just tapping works.
Yissss, finally Strat is soloing a castle! And you even used the same castle (or any of the 20 that use the same layout lol)! Also... what about mounted axe tips? From my experience axes are the best mounted weapons, specially vs other mounted units.
Lol how about a world conquest solo...? I have no clue if it's possible but it sounds goofy and interesting lol I like a long 2H axe or 175 - 200 length swingable polearm, BUT I honestly think thrusting polearms that can couch lance are slightly better. They don't do as much damage, but I feel like it's much safer to use (the point of attack is in front of our horse, swing weapons we have to be right next to them) so the overall damage throughout a big battle is more. Plus you can use a shield with thrusting polearms!
World conquest solo by taking all castles is impossible because people will just make multiple sieges and you can't garrison very well. Its actually how Yeethild's run went: i got two more clans to help with the defense, solo sieged almost every castle, and chopped heads as needed to keep enemy numbers low. You can do it by chopping heads until you're the last noble alive and just inherit it, but that involves no sieging at all. That's how my autoresolve-only run went. Autoresolving sieges is a big no, so i just ran around with 200-ish cavalry killing everyone. As for the axes: my experience with couching is very meh, but axes can shred archer lines and give you a pretty good damage vs other cav. That being said, i do agree couching is safer.
P.S.: I strongly recommend doing 2-3 solo castles on any given run just for the athletics/bow/crossbow exp. But they get repetitive after a while, so i only do them afterward on emergencies such as if a larger army is about to break the siege and we need to hide inside. This might also be a patch thing, but i can't hit people with ballistae on castles anymore. On some cities its possible (and glorious!) but never on castles for some reason. I think the AI started getting closer to the walls on 1.7.3.
Lol Blinded by rage! I bet it's all Dertherts doing... Yeah some of this stuff was a bit more common knowledge but I tried to get some obscure stuff in for the veterans too :) Thanks for watching!
Also bait and switch I would do, depending on your force size. Take enemy city, leave small garrison of about 200. Wait nearby with your army AI will retaliate and siege the city you just took. Either just assault sign camp direct if they're weak enough, they can run away due to disorganised penalty or if it's about even, wait for their attack to begin and numbers to dwindle and attack while they're weakened. Lots of gear to sell, prisoners to capture and random and Lords to recapture, giving big boost to war score

That's a good point! It also works with 2H maces which are particularly effective against those massively armored noble cav. Thanks for watching!!
My man, this is the single most useful guide I have ever seen for this game, thank you!.
Thanks for watching!!
Thanks for watching and enjoy the showers of horses lol
everybody knows F1+F3 is the peak military strategy
Ah yes, you are a man of culture if you can quote Sun Tzu :D Thanks for watching!!
a channel called spartan gaming also found something similar to el matador using a spicific sturgian castle map. the units will just fall to their death from a cliff. and the even funnier thing is that you don't even need to do anything special. you just sit with your shield up.
Oh geez lol it even takes the foot troops?!
oh wow I went in with this video thinking I knew all about these tips, but I didn't think about trying to cheese sieges by soloing them, that's pretty neat.
This was a great video. I have done many of the "don't do" scenarios that you pointed out. So cool to learn ways to improve my skills in the game!
Strat gaming is one of the few MB2 UA-camrs that actually makes quality content and provides cool new info.

Wow the fighting outnumber section had me cracking up - brilliant! Swinging while face away, Legend ahahaha...
Man I am always a fan of your videos due to the knowledge you empart on us all, but watching you solo that castle brings things to new heights!!
Thanks for watching!
Instead of double tapping w or s in a horse you can tap E while holding Wor S to immediately run or stop the horse
Interesting, I didn't know what :) My w key says thanks for saving it's life!
Omg I'm new to bannerlord 2 still get beat it battles sometimes but those horses flying of the cliff was amazingly funny 😄
This guy went inside bannerlord and stayed there for a 1000 years to find all these out, that’s the only explanation I can come with
Lol close to it - about 4300 hour at this point
Excellent guide! Best I've watched so far and didn't take an hour to relay the same info.
Thank you!
Thank you for watching :D
Been playing a while now, and was surprised how many useful tips I learned from this! Thanks.
Thanks for watching! I tried to give out my best ones for this one :)
Dude, this is BRILLIANT! I was expecting more of the same of what I already knew---but man, these are just not tips, these are genius. Well done.
Thanks for watching! I'll usually cover the obvious stuff in the beginner's guides and save the juicy stuff for these :)
Extremely imformative and entertaining. You gotta be the best guide maker I've seen on this platform.
Nice as I suck at combat so needed these. I love the force siege defense technique, i use it in executioner campaign and never need to leave my towns and get constant battles
I've seen you with the swing polearm before, you can't lie to me haha Flesson the reaper! Thanks for watching :)
@@Strat-Guides yeh I use the 230 length polearm since I suck to bad I need the reach to hit
brilliant tips, ill leave a tip for you too, use a pike against infantry units in a siege by aiming up the stairs. they gain vertical speed and if they fall of the side, which they will, then you insta kill infantry as you make a shiskebab
Lol that's a great idea! I'll have to try it out :)
I'll definitely start using these in my playthroughs.
Hey Halcylion! The Algorithm has blessed us with your presence :D Hope all is well with you bro!
The horse can strafe?? Wuuut? Years later.. and always something new to learn - thank you :)

That first tips alone worth the entire vdo.
Lol thanks for watching! I love seeing them go nuts trying to charge and go flying off the cliff :P
Great tips, didn't expect so much useful ones I didn't know yet!
9 seconds into the video and I subscribed. Using a Hindenburg disaster audio clip was pure genius 😂
Lol nice, glad you caught that one :D
Id give ten likes just for the cav dump at the start !
Small added tip, with a 2H lengthy axe you can cleave, sure, but if you plow into a infantry line while mounted swinging for their heads horizontally nets great results.
dude you're amazing.
your guide is the most cheese laden cheesy mucky dripping cheese sauce style play style I've ever witnessed.
it's beautiful. you're beautiful.
I'm around the 50th hour of my 1st playthrough and now i can't get enough of the immersion ruining cheese that's just irradiated my brain.

Lol I'm fine with the insults, I'm just glad you watched it. Hopefully it was entertaining!

As Sun Tzu says “All warfare based on deception”
Interesting, I think I've heard of that before from a history channel. I'll have to look it up!
Wooow!! You going beast mode on those 1 v ALOT clips 🔥🔥
I love how defenders have no idea how to use ladders :) very valuable tips, thanks!~!~
Holy shit, I can't believe you mentioned Lemmings. That was one of my favorite games as a kid. Next to a bunch of other Sega classics. Been loving your Bannerlord guides. Just got into it on a whim and I've been having a blast playing it.

For those who wonder why Z doesn't work for dismount:
You probably changed the key binding because it's the "crouch" button
...or you use a german keyboard, in this case it's Y
...or both... like me 😅🤦🏻♂️
Oooh shoot, I didn't realize I might have changed the hotkeys... It would have been when I first installed the game years ago, I don't fiddle with them once I learn the keys. My mistake, I'll double check to see what I have it mapped to and leave a pinned comment. Thank you for pointing that out, good catch!!
@@Strat-Guides ✌🏼😅 i know that Z is the default Button for crouching so you got at least this one right.
@@Grauer1510 Oooh okay I hope so lol that would save me the trouble :)
Not sure Z is default for crouch on a QWERTY keyboard. At least I never remembered it being Z. It's usually either C or left CTRL. Z is dismount. I believe Europe uses a different standard keyboard layout.
@@TheCybercoco yes it's QWERTZ, so the default button for dismount is Y.
"Dismounting" isn't even shown in the key bindings menu, only "crouch".
This is the best tips i ever see, ty for the tip i definitely try it
Thank you for watching!! :D I'm glad the video was helpful
I accidentally found the Matador technique during a cliffside battle where I was outnumbered, and hilarity ensued. One quick question: does swapping the ranged weapon (ie javelin) to melee mode cancel the quick stun risk?
Lol yeah I think the first time it happened for me I was trying to get Dirthert off my tail and to my shock he just went flying lol
Yeah switching to melee mode stops the stuns!
@@Strat-Guides I'm beginning to sense a pattern with you and Derthert
I am thinking most of these have made it over to "full release". Really impressive video, made me want to play it, even tho I am struggling mightily. Any plans to do console specific videos? I might just get a keyboard for this game.
Thanks for watching! I don't own any consoles at the moment but am considering it. For now I'll keep to PC though. It would be a good idea for me to at least know the controls because I get a lot of questions about that.
For the bow part:
If u think they come to close, just press x (kick) for more distance.
I'm not sure if this actually works, but jumping on horseback and shooting an arrow improves accuracy because you are not being moved up and down from the galloping horse. Plus, you keep your momentum. Again, not sure if this is actually the case. It would be worth investigating.
Very useful information on this list.
Thanks for watching! :D
Thank You Sir! As always your vids are entertaining and informative.

I love using the glaive from horse back, swinging from side to side as the enemies fall, I have trouble getting as many kills with the lance

Gosh this video was cool. I look forward to seeing playthroughs you do where you incorporate these tricks into the playthrough. Maybe a "cheesiest Bannerlord run" some time after you're starting to run out of video ideas (so not any time soon :D ). Cool thing about this is my friends are on vacation right now, so when they get back and we hang out next, I'll be showing them this video for the "OH MY GOD!" reactions they'll give when they see your solo castle capture. :D I live for it.
Love the content. Hope this comment feeds the algorithm.
Hahaha That would be fun - I was thinking about a solo character until kingdom creation run... might be interesting lol no compnions, no troops, just shenanigans and take a fief solo. That would be pretty epic!
I'm curious - what did you think of the intro? I'm not sure I like it, but I couldn't think of anything else better and it tied into the first tip so I figured I would run with it.
I keep sending this to people, 1 to support you, and 2 because I can't think of anyone who shouldn't see this!
Lol I appreciate that! Hopefully they get a good laugh at the intro :)
This is such a dope guide! Liked and subscribed!
Well, yesterday playing with the ability to make the horse move sideways, I discovered that you can make it climb the steps of the cities in this way. Something that refuses to do it frontally.
Oh cool, time for some castle parkour! lol
Yeah I noticed that, the stairs block forward movement so I usually just turn around back walk backwards up the stairs. TW maths I guess?

Ok now I need to find a cliff to test the El matador trick.
This one was west of charras near the water!
Lol that's true, they are like rabbit animals trying to bite you lol
Good point about the overhead, it seems to be the most reliable. Actually, you can chamber the swing before you kick, then release it almost at the same time the kick lands and it's impossible to block.
The shields from the side/behind blocking is so annoying! I've been overrun before because I couldn't deal with all the shields even with kicks lol sad times :(
Gods I haven't done that solo castle thing for a long while and actually forgot about it in the most recent beta patch.
I think it used to be a little bit easier, seems like the AI archers are a bit more accurate now but it's still doable with a good set or armor :) I think certain towns are even better since they don't have archer groups sitting near the entrance and you can get into the walls without taking 1000 shots lol Thanks for watching!
Oh my goodness I have to try out El Matador. This looks hilarious

Lol sounds like a good idea for a solo fun-run! I wonder how far one could go...
@@arcdecibel9986 Agreed, I've made that exact comment on a stream a few weeks back! It really does remind me of a dog fight :)
I have no clue if it's possible but it sounds goofy and interesting lol
I like a long 2H axe or 175 - 200 length swingable polearm, BUT I honestly think thrusting polearms that can couch lance are slightly better.
I think the AI started getting closer to the walls on 1.7.3.
the horses stuff is hilarious, i always loved abusing cavalry to make them suicide charge, its super funny how they just fall.
though, unlike the double tap, the horse strafing was a new thing to me, i always manage to learn something from your videos
Lol Blinded by rage! I bet it's all Dertherts doing...
Yeah some of this stuff was a bit more common knowledge but I tried to get some obscure stuff in for the veterans too :) Thanks for watching!
Wow. Actually impressed and learned something new (well a few things)
Also bait and switch I would do, depending on your force size. Take enemy city, leave small garrison of about 200.
Wait nearby with your army
AI will retaliate and siege the city you just took.
“Here are some good tips that you can use to give your side the advantage in battles.”does a line “ do you wanna see me take a castle by myself?”
