I've had a feeling there was more to him since before Kingdom Hearts III. In the Kingdom Hearts Orchestra World Tour Album, his light motif is played at the end of Heroes and Heroines: Character's Medley. It seemed like it was left out of Let Darkness Assemble: Final Boss Medley for a reason. When Kingdom Hearts III was still in development, I kind of theorized he might betray Xehanort. He's much more aligned to darkness than Xehanort's plan for equilibrium. Xehanort wanted to use Kingdom Hearts to purge all darkness and everyone with potential for darkness with it. I couldn't picture Vanitas being completely on-board with that. The "tyranny of light" Xehanort refers to in Birth by Sleep is exactly what he took the role of the scape-goat for.

From Antiform to Rage Form Sora’s darkness has been growing bit by bit which makes me think Vanitus might still be inside Sora’s heart slowly but surly waking up as times goes by
@@sharkmessiah1018 I think soras darkness is already really strong and prominent. Also wild and unhinged, just judging by how he fights in anti and rage forms. Holy crap bro. You COOKED with this video! I had already loved Vanitas before but I love him even more now. Can’t wait to see what Nomura has planned in the future!
If Sora and Vanitas merging together as one is the resulting catalyst that signifies that he's one step further in becoming a true Keyblade Master then I would love to see that happen
With everything we learned about Vanitas actually being a Darkness and him looking like Sora, it kinda seems like he's being set up to have some kind of dynamic with Sora - something beyond the rather few & limited interactions they've had in KH3. I also think that KH4 will involve Sora realizing and eventually accepting he has issues (but perhaps not until closer or at the end of the game), that he has to face the darkness that he has been suppressing and ignoring throughout the games. And who better to make him realize it than a Darkness that looks like him? Especially since in a way, said Darkness has issues are the opposite of Sora's own. A prime instance being that Vanitas is shown to be too selfish & uncaring of how he affects others, whereas Sora tends to be too selfless & while ignoring his own hurts and needs. It definitely would be fitting if they do eventually work together, but I don't see it it happening without at least some initial hostility on one or both sides due to their histories and beliefs. And maybe I'm overthinking it, but I think that another thing that could support the idea of Vanitas and Sora working towards a mutual understanding lies in how their interaction between each other and Ventus ended in the Keyblade Graveyard in KH3. After Ventus asks Vanitas if he had chosen to be darkness and Vanitas had confirmed this, Ventus pretty much accepted his answer and let it go. Sora on the other hand, wanted to keep pushing the matter, not content to simply let things end that way, but couldn't say more due Vanitas' form finally dissipating as his heart returned to the past. To me, it felt sort of like things were finished between Vanitas and Ventus, like Ven was saying goodbye in a way. And in contrast, it feels like matters between Vanitas and Sora aren't finished...
I think vanitas will be the reason sora can come home and he might be the person to teach sora to finally truly understand what darknesses intentions actually are
This video gave me a totally different viewpoint of Kingdom Hearts in general. KH3 upset me initially, and not playing every game is a factor too. However, there is a lot more within the scope of Kingdom Hearts than meets the eye. Thank-you for an insightful video.
@@Jahof20s the only other existing character to use darkness and have any potential connection... who is alive is Riku and I honestly do not think we will see Riku until end game of KH4.
@@RFDN0 for all we know we’ll get to play different sections of the story of kh4 with both riku and sora in different sections of quadratum since that is where they both are.
I think Vanitas or rather "Darkness" and the Master of Masters ARE connected. They may be the same being at one point in time, but are two sides of a coin. I think Sora's role is to unify the two together to create an acceptance and coexistence between the two.
This topic is interesting and very good on Vanitas, being a hero of darkness connected on Ven, Sora, and Roxas in 3-1. He is more anit hero of darkness than the true hero of darkness, and I think I understand his personality and his story arc on his life begins to ending. Overall I may respect him and, HMK. I hope he do something to help sora in kingdom hearts 4 and series. I never thought of Vanitas being a hero of darkness bonding on kingdom hearts union x, birth by sleep, dark road, 358/2 and remind. Least we are learned on Vanitas became hero of darkness be key for future on the kingdom hearts series. Amazing video.
Vanitas was the badass that used to catch me off guard. I honestly can't imagine him ever being "good". I can see him being an incarnation of darkness itself though.
His all thing is about Negativity, remember in remind when Sora dives in to Vens heart he meets a person that calls themselves Darkness, but remember that that time Venitus is separate from Ven… what does that say?
I am freaking out! It would be so cool if this is the way KH4 goes! I have had an inkling that there was so much more to Vanetis! I figured he was one of the original 13 pure darknesses from Union X but he's evolved and grown so much as the story goes on that I really want him to be more! Then in KH3 where he calls Sora and Ven his brothers, I was like 'What are you hinting at?' But he returned to his past time before more could be added to the puzzle!😃
Hey i had a couple of ideas i wanted to toss out there. Group project/s for the X Keepers, if you guys are interested. 1.) Do a Kingdom Hearts theme D&D campaign with your OCs on stream once a week and re-upload it to this channel. 2.) Do a dub of the Union X cut scenes. If it takes off maybe see about bringing in other KH UA-camrs in.
Yes I don’t understand how people get the Remind scene confused. Sora’s literally traveling across time with his heart. He does this to travel through current hearts to get his outcome. That’s why Vanitas is still alive because the Remind scene with Sora doing the deep dive into Ventus heart and Darkness speaking to him is an indication that even though there’s a Vanitas out on the battlefield, it’s not the current, present day Vanitas, as he is still in Ven’s heart from BBS.
Vanitas’ Keyblade does not have a name. Void Gear is the name of the black & white color swap version wielded by Terra/Ventus/Aqua & the vanitas remnant. Per the Character Files and KH Ultimania books, it does not have a name.
Hi there hmk I had a theory what if the seven crowns are the heroes of kingdom Hearts this is my list. 1.) Sora the hero of light 2.) The hero of between 3.) The hero of darkness maybe its vinitas or someone else 4.) The hero of time maybe the player character or someone else 5.) The hero of unreality yozora 6.) The hero of life and death maybe it's buldur 7.) The hero of dreams So I believe this is what the official title of the 7crowns and also the data realm is part of the the hero of dream territory because data should not be real but it became real because it was dream to existence.
@jonathanayala375 I can see that so I believe the seven crowns will be the one to take down the king of darkness or emperor of darkness which is the final villain in kingdom Hearts generation 1, maybe in the future will get a generation 2 and a new creator will fill the shoes of sir namura.
Well, KINGDOM HERTS CHARACTER FILES: After Vanitas is resurrected as a true 13th, it targets the other half of himself, dormant Ventus' heart in sora(III)AND Nomura said: the story is not that complicated
I have a feeling that Sora is going to want to understand the darknesses and not destroy them. That’s one way I could see Vanitas and the other darknesses become “good.” It all makes sense, but I truly want the Darknesses to be the main villains in Missing Link so as to get an explanation about them.
If they just make dream drop distance 2 for Riku and birth by sleep 3 for aqua and terra and ventus their story together they don't have to put all that in Kingdom hearts 4 if they do birth by sleep 3 then maybe ventus his true keyblade and his true power and his memories will return if they do that in the darkness within him will come out then maybe we will get the return of venitas in Kingdom hearts series
In re:mind it’s implied ventus does remember to some degree his past considering he seemed to recognize his chirithy by the end of kh3 so maybe he’s already on his way to getting back what he lost.
I just simply want Sora and Vanitas to interact more in KH4 or other future installments, and have them fuse like a BBS or Final Form situation. Or ANYTHING-- I'LL TAKE ANYTHING!!!
Honestly, seeing Ven and Vanitas' united form always made me think that something was wrong here. The X-Blade was fully formed out for all to see, and yet the merging more so made it look like a cadaver of two identities in one body. Sure, their internal fight seemed reason enough. But if Vanitas was truly Ven's darkness, Ven would look far different (outside of the yellow eyes anyway). The ambiguous but implied confirmation that Vanitas was a true darkness given a physical form really validated to me that something else was going on.
I mean. There IS a keyblade to the realm of darkness. All Vanitas would have to do would be to take it from Mickey. And with all the people born from and connected to his heart Vanitas could have his own vessels of Darkness.
While I get why people like to look at more nuance side of stuff, and in KH good and evil don’t correlate to good and evil like in Star Wars, I’d never been that big a fan of that kind of talk, yes those who focused on on the black and white too much, risk missing the grey but on the flip side those how do focus too grey itself miss out on the black and white 😉
honestly Vanitas is only considered psychotic and unhinged to the western audience... sure, I wouldn't call the original lines sane... but he speaks far more calm and less mocking. Hell he even revers to Aqua as a Master, while not saying it in a mocking tone but in actual respect to her position. I'd say the western studios ruined his character.
Vanitas should've stayed in Birth by Sleep, all the retcon slop that Nomura gives the fanbase is just milking a dead cow. Vanitas is the darkness within Ventus after his heart was fractured by Xehanort, that's all it had to be. He has a cool design, but outstayed his welcome.
For me, all I care about is "so are we ever going to explain why he looks like sora?" because, they still haven't. They tried to explain it in kh3 but that doesn't make sense because he and sora looked like each other before they even met. There doesn't seem to be a connection tied to ventus. At all. It's all tied to sora. (still watching the video). Timey whimey stuff I'm starting to suspect.
Wasn't there a book or something? Like a novelisation of BBS that showed Vanitas only grew to look like Sora after Ventus was healed by a newborn heart? Basically that moment where Xehanort was going to abandon Ventus on Destiny Islands but Ventus was still able to summon his keyblade..... So I suppose Sora not only healed Ventus' broken heart but Vanitas' as well giving him a form to cling to.
@@TheDark4light There is, but he still looked like him before that happened. It's the same voice in both Japanese and English that means it's still the same face. So there's something else. That's why I say it hasn't been explained without major plot holes.
@@icefiredawn .... Not really? The scene on destiny islands is implied to happen immediately after Xehanort forcibly splitting Vanitas and Ventus. Hence why Ventus is practically comatose and why Xehanort is surprised he can still summon the keyblade. After that Xehanort takes Ventus straight to the land of departure where Ven, like Roxas, is completely out of it for his first few days there, acting like a zombie. Again I'm not too sure on the book because I haven't read it but I believe it's not until after Ventus is healed by a newborn heart (aka Sora before he was born) that Vanitas is able to conjure the unversed and control them. At which point he also gains Sora's face. timeline wise we don't see what Vanitas looks like until Ventus fights him far later after these events are believed to happen. He has a form in terms of the armour but not a face until after Sora saves Ventus. None of the original darkness' had one, they were just silhouettes. So voices without faces. I think that's more of a gameplay thing than a lore thing.
@@TheDark4light possibly but if we all know nomura there is a reason. Appreciate the explanation about the heart thing. When I played it, it. Appeared to happen after aqua had already compared riku and sora to Terra and Ventus and while seeing it the correct way explains the corelation better, the voice for both the roles is suspicious but maybe it's a coincidence. Thanks for the input.

You might be on to something no doubt this could be true
I really just want darkness to stay darkness and stop trying to make it seem like it's light. Riku and Terra are prime examples, riku doesn't use darkness he uses light..... When he used darkness he lost his identity. That's what the road to dawn was all about, he fell into darkness and came back into the light. As for Terra... He also fell into darkness and had to be pulled back to the light. Roxas, isn't a real person and I'm standing by him being so as fan service because he's literally half of sora but that's a whole other thing. It just doesn't make sense for light and dark to work together because then neither exists... It's like saying good and evil don't exist which is becoming a really alarming trend in media and honestly ruins alot of interesting stories for the sake of sending a message that just doesn't work in reality. There is true darkness and there is true light and as humans we are capable only of a shadow of both of them but we are not their source. This was however a fascinating video now that I watched the whole thing. You have some wonderful insight based on the series and I admire the amount of care and detail you put into finding theses links to possible foreshadowings.
Kingdom hearts is just versus 13. The series is dead

I do believe that Sora could be able too find a way too bridge the understanding between Light & Darkness and find a way for both to coexist. However, throughout the series Sora has shown that even though he has the ability to understand. He often shows a lack of awareness and intelligence towards these types of things. However, he HAS shown that he does believe that some denizens of darkness should be allowed to exist. Like: Roxas & Namine, who are both denizens of darkness. So Sora does not truly hate all of darkness. Just the ones that harm other people. =/c
Actually, after rewatching "KH 2", I realized he DOES have the intelligence. But every time he starts considering it, most of his so called friends tell him to not think about it, and just focus on the job. They are holding him back. That's why Kingdom Hearts favors him, not Xehanort. Although pure Light, Kingdom Hearts knows without Darkness, nothing would truly exist, as it's Darkness that creates the bodies around our Hearts, hence our dark urges. It wants to co-exist without destroying Darkness, but it doesn't know how.
I think Roxas, Naminé, Riku, Ventus and Kairi are the only people who truly get Sora. Who don't hold him back (well, not anymore). They're the only ones who actually learned to respect him. I just hope it pays off to all of them.
I think Vanitas or rather "Darkness" and the Master of Masters ARE connected. They may be the same being at one point in time, but are two sides of a coin. I think Sora's role is to unify the two together to create an acceptance and coexistence between the two.
Vanitas may be the missing true Hero that we need to end everything...
A... missing link, if you will?
Yeah maybe he could turn good

I think vanitas will be the reason sora can come home and he might be the person to teach sora to finally truly understand what darknesses intentions actually are
Is that the OTHER Vanitas as your pfp?
This video gave me a totally different viewpoint of Kingdom Hearts in general. KH3 upset me initially, and not playing every game is a factor too. However, there is a lot more within the scope of Kingdom Hearts than meets the eye. Thank-you for an insightful video.
Who knows, maybe he can be a guide for Sora in the trials ahead, maybe as a stealth mentor?
He is more likely to be the teacher to help Sora learn to use and control his darkness.
@@RFDN0 one of them maybe
@@Jahof20s the only other existing character to use darkness and have any potential connection... who is alive is Riku and I honestly do not think we will see Riku until end game of KH4.
@@RFDN0 beyond KH4
@@RFDN0 for all we know we’ll get to play different sections of the story of kh4 with both riku and sora in different sections of quadratum since that is where they both are.
A NEW HMK KINGDOM HEARTS VIDEO
I want vanitas as a party member.
Vanitas was the badass that used to catch me off guard. I honestly can't imagine him ever being "good". I can see him being an incarnation of darkness itself though.
Amother cool KH video!
His all thing is about Negativity, remember in remind when Sora dives in to Vens heart he meets a person that calls themselves Darkness, but remember that that time Venitus is separate from Ven… what does that say?
We all know that Ven got or has. True Darkness in him but I think there is a difference between Vens dark and a true darkness.
And if you think how this implies the seven crowns. In which all the people that took the pods are the seven crowns in someway
I think Venitus is Vens Darkness or negativity but not a true darkness I think he will be one of the seven crowns that’s will help the light
Kh3 Vanitas is from the past. After he was defeated he returned to his original time which is the time of birth by sleep.
I am freaking out! It would be so cool if this is the way KH4 goes! I have had an inkling that there was so much more to Vanetis! I figured he was one of the original 13 pure darknesses from Union X but he's evolved and grown so much as the story goes on that I really want him to be more! Then in KH3 where he calls Sora and Ven his brothers, I was like 'What are you hinting at?' But he returned to his past time before more could be added to the puzzle!😃
we need to know about Vanitas's backstory about him. he was born from world when he was a human person. and become a dark hero himself.
*final endgame*
*insert mcu theme*
That was neat.
Seeing Vanitas and Ansem standing inside of the Notre Dame without exploding into flames like Voldemort was wierd and funny.
Love this video
Grea video. Hero to he darkness is a great concept.
At this point i think its obvious sora is the child of destiny and vanitas will be why the child of destiny is also called a dark vessel
Vanitas’ Keyblade does not have a name. Void Gear is the name of the black & white color swap version wielded by Terra/Ventus/Aqua & the vanitas remnant. Per the Character Files and KH Ultimania books, it does not have a name.
This video was recommended to me 13d after it was uploaded lol
Hi there hmk I had a theory what if the seven crowns are the heroes of kingdom Hearts this is my list.
1.) Sora the hero of light
2.) The hero of between
3.) The hero of darkness maybe its vinitas or someone else
4.) The hero of time maybe the player character or someone else
5.) The hero of unreality yozora
6.) The hero of life and death maybe it's buldur
7.) The hero of dreams
So I believe this is what the official title of the 7crowns and also the data realm is part of the the hero of dream territory because data should not be real but it became real because it was dream to existence.
@@BillyAnselmo I see Riku as the hero of between, Ephemere as the hero of time, and Kairi as the hero of dreams.
@jonathanayala375 I can see that so I believe the seven crowns will be the one to take down the king of darkness or emperor of darkness which is the final villain in kingdom Hearts generation 1, maybe in the future will get a generation 2 and a new creator will fill the shoes of sir namura.
I wonder if Van. Remembers unaliving someone from the distant past?? 😅😅😅😅
That’s one way I could see Vanitas and the other darknesses become “good.”
It all makes sense, but I truly want the Darknesses to be the main villains in Missing Link so as to get an explanation about them.
Great video
I think if its possible for Riku and Terra to come back from the darkness and harness its power i think Vanitus can too
man im calling it nomura is gonna make us all love vanitas' hero arc just to sacrifice him for sora or some shit💀
I know it’s probably not gonna happen but I really want to see ansem and xemnas brought back
I think Vanitas has something to do with the darkness in Ven that made him kill Striletizia
honestly Vanitas is only considered psychotic and unhinged to the western audience... sure, I wouldn't call the original lines sane... but he speaks far more calm and less mocking. Hell he even revers to Aqua as a Master, while not saying it in a mocking tone but in actual respect to her position. I'd say the western studios ruined his character.
I wonder if he ends up becoming a twilight in the end
Master of masters might be the evil within the light just a game theory 😈💯
Vanitas might have the lowest kill count, not sure about pre-x but he only killed 1 person which is less than Sora
They should make a game from Vanitas perspective.
Vanitas should've stayed in Birth by Sleep, all the retcon slop that Nomura gives the fanbase is just milking a dead cow. Vanitas is the darkness within Ventus after his heart was fractured by Xehanort, that's all it had to be. He has a cool design, but outstayed his welcome.
hi HMK
I must be missing something.. I thought his name was Roxas
Sexy bad boy Vanitas
So you’re saying he deserves the Kingdom Key D?
So... TL:DW Vanitas is secretly going to b a anti-villain, dope
To be honest, I would rather have the true darknesses look either sexy or demonic rather than same as usual designs.
Hey
