Interesting project I must say. The prototype is strange looking but nice never the less. Having different sounding locomotives in a consist does sounds great.
Yep. That's the sound of the K/M I remember as a kid as SP ran it through my hometown in Dixon, CA, in 1968. It sounds like a bearing is being grown down to nothing....a raspy shrill sound!! Kewl!!
Paul M. Newitt, Thanks to confirm about the sound of KM ML 4000. It is a custom built sound file by me. Since there are no real recordings of Maybach 16 cyl prime mover, I had to go with the closest thing that is Maybach 12 cyl from German V200/220.
Triple M Model Railroad, One of beautiful things about Loksound V4 is that you can custom built specific sound files. The prototype sounds of KM ML4000 are quite unique. The dual Maybach prime movers plus the combination of ancillary devices, such American type accessories makes impossible to buy out shelf sound decoder. It can be done in various degrees from simple switching of some sounds such whistle and bell to completely write a sequence of sounds that would be unique to the ML4000. Note some of shut down sounds are from the U50 and Alcos, too.
I agree, Loksound decoders are very flexible with its customization of their sound files. I'm currently trying to figure out a way to extend the engine start primer alarm of the SD70's and or GE GEVO's. You have stated in the beginning that you have created a custom sound with a select decoder file, my understanding this only could be done with a V4.0 sound file.
I know exactly what you want to do. Something like a cold start, right? I know that is possible, but I never got that far on lokprogrammer. There is a tab on the "sound " where you basically can built bits of sound files choosing sound type like start up. You can extend by looping the sound noise and you can add time delay to the cranking sound, too. But I never did that. There is a very good FB page of Loksound where you can post your question. In case you find the answer, please, let me know.
Yes, I want to simulate a realistic cold start. The funny thing is I have spoken personally to Matt Herman a hardware and sound engineer from ESU and he stated that it is not currently possible to do this at the moment. The reason being is that the cold start sequence is one sound block. In other words the alarm and the engine crank over are on the same sound block. I believe it is easier to make it in one block as oppose to creating two. The startup block is quite complicated with different startup conditions. Decoder V3.5 did have the alarm and engine crank separated for their SD70 sound file, but that system was not that complex.
It’s great seeing how this was a sad and beat up locomotive and then seeing it become into this beauty! Great job fixing her up!
Very nicely done! I love this layout too!

Oh yeah! You got a U50 in that consist!

ESU V200 based sound project?
BTW, great shut down sequence.

Triple M Model Railroad,
If you you are using Loksound Select is not possible to alter the sound files.
