    You are Exactly right about making a list that actually works, while being as graphically flashy as possible.
    Showing 2 minutes of extreme graphics at 15fps on slow walking isn't moding.

    I spent weeks converting Vagabond modlist to work with SKYRIMVR. I started with 4400+ mods now it has 4200+ mods and it's stable. Actually, it's the most stable modlist I've ever played on Skyrim VR, and I don't know why. Of course it's really a huge pain in the ass to change or remove any mod that doesn't look good on VR because everything is so tightly connected. You remove one mod and there are like 10 mods become inconsistent and there are so many mods that overhaul the same thing when you have have a problem on that thing , it takes forever to identify the source mod. Visually it looks very good, NPC wise not so much and It looked desolate, so I ended up adding more NPC's and followers to modlist. Also I always play in legendary difficulty and I don't remember running away shitless so many times in the game before. Even the bleakfalls barrow was brutal.

      Maybe you could upload it, I'm always looking for good VR collections, though I don't think I could run this list.

      I have no experience publishing modlists and I don't think I would be able to create a wabbajack config for a modlist this big. Even if I could, I have a feeling that the author of Vagabond wouldn't like it since it still contains large number of custom made patches. I also had to modify those patches manually in some cases. It runs better than I expected but I don't have high FPS expectation as long as it doesn't stutter. I had to increase my RAM from 32Gb to 48gb though because it completely fills up 20Gb VRAM when game begins and starts consuming RAM fast. Got CTD several times due to insufficient memory though I got plenty of paging space. Even DYNDOLOD couldn't work with 32gb RAM. With 48gb no CTDs, but I see like 35gb of Ram usage regularly.

    I love Vagabond even with it's flaws, i love that it's pushing boundaries.
    Also i saw nukt on reddit say "he is a beginner modder, so take that as you wish.

    Dammit, Vegabond was my favorite modlist. I hope he puts the last update back on wabbajack at some point. I have one of the first versions with jank tree mods that cut through everything.

    Man I have become so addicted to Vagabond. I thought I'd never like it because of the lack of companions...but once you get past that and play it...nothing compares.
    I've always wanted a conjuration / Staff wielder build and it's everything I could have hoped for on Vagabond.

    I am interested to give this a try but looking at all the low fps feedback i am still unsure.
    May i ask if Lossless Scaling would help? I am currently playing Eldergleam on 4K, 5800x3d, rx6800 nonXT and 34gb ram, i dont know what the fps was but it definitely wasnt 60. Using lossless scaling eith FSR and Frame Generation makes the game so much more fluid.

    Quick question. How long can modlists actually be "under maintenance" before they get taken down from the Wabbajack starting list. And how do lists end up there in the first place. Do authors apply for it and then certain lists get picked or can any list just get put up there? Because since I can remember the "Ruvaak" list has been under Maintenance and nothing seems to change about it. Can it just stay like this forever or will it taken down eventually if the author does not do anything about it?

    • @biggie_boss
      @biggie_boss  5 місяців тому

      Idk. TSO was under maintenance for like a year so prob no limit

    • @nicechock
      @nicechock 5 місяців тому

      Id assume unless the author asks to remove it, it means the list is not updated or fixed so it remains under maintenance. Often author might go Mia or just come back later on or abandon the list. It can also mean the list has so many issues due to not being updated so its removed from access.

      How big is your laptop screen res? You should be able to run it at 1080p with 16GB of Vram. Probably won't be perfectly smooth, but it should be playable at that res. Depending on the size of your screen it should still look decent and not too blurry. I absolutely love this list and been enhancing and adding to it further for the past two weeks...

      On the left side of MO2, at the bottom of the list, you'll see a LOT of dyndolod (below the main dyndolod output) - you CAN disable these for a large frame rate increase. Keep in mind you won't have their benefits, but what I've seen in testing is they can really bog down a marginal system when in cities. I was able to run an acceptable frame rate, mostly 60fps, with a 3070TI and vramr. AND, it still looked pretty damn gorgeous.
      This was done approx 2 months ago on the first version that didn't have the performance setting - there have been updates to the modlist since then, but this may still work as it did then.

    Uhm, impressive technically, but it doesn't meet my preferences:
    1) you have to play without followers, there are no custom followers in vagabond except Katana
    2) I have a 4080 super and, with all the vramr installed, the FPS still dips
    3) you think you are doing great in a dungeon with lvl 6 bandits only to be rekt by a chest which isn't a chest it's a level 40 mimic you can't beat.
    4) same as above, it just adds to the game monsters and critters that aren't fun to fight against. The other example is the frost atronach that emerges from a tree. It one shots me
    5) is the combat fun? I guess it's me, but I don't like getting swarmed by 10 enemies at the same time
    6) the mod handling the death mechanism is a drag. I'd just rather lose the game

    • @MichaeltheORIGINAL1

      I disagree with you here. I currently use Vagabond as a base and rework a lot of areas in the mod. Making it survival-friendly, enhancing and diversifying visuals further, adding quests and new worlds, adding new animations, etc. Added around 300 mods while removing and patching some things I do not personally like. And while I further improved visuals on my end, even base Vagabond is unbelievably beautiful, and in a one-to-one comparison, it leaves Eldergleam in the dust. That is my take. Not saying Eldergleam looks bad, not at all; it's a gorgeous visuals list, but Vagabond, even without modifications, is on another level. After some careful trimming and adding to the list and investing a decent chunk of extra time into expanding and enhancing visuals while reworking the mod list to some capacity, it looks even better, but Vagabond isn't as easy to modify and work with as some smaller scale lists; imagine that. :D I brought the total active mod count to 4800 so far... :D

      @@MichaeltheORIGINAL1 Yeah I'm horrible at modding lol. That's why I download modlists. I have played a bit of Eldergleam but I'm currently waiting to buy a new GPU because my 3080 died (sad). Looking to buy a 4080 Super when I get my paycheck so I may try the list out since actually seeing it in-game will always look better than a YT video, but from what little I played of Eldergleam and how smooth it ran on ultra performance, I highly doubt antything can beat it. How's the additional mods of this one outside of visuals? Eldergleam doesn't really do a lot outside of visuals and add the frameworks to add mods for yourself so I have been looking for another list that looks just as good but also adds new armors, animations, locations, quests etc. Does this one provide that? And how's controller support? I play on controller and even the few gameplay changes Eldergleam had, made it feel weird. Couldn't consistently block. Stuff like that

      @@theunderdog9353 (Part 1 of the original post) Hey there. :) First of all, Vagabond is by NO means a "good baseline for modding" list. Vagabond is a total conversion mod that overhauls every single aspect of the game while adding an unholy amount of new ones. It uses and needs tons of patches, and if you don't know what you are doing, NEVER use this list as a base because you will more than likely break things that will cause you trouble and headaches. I've been modding my games for many years, so I know a thing or two about it, but I am not even close to someone like Biggie who is really in depth about these things, more so than I am.
      The controller support on Vagabond is honestly great and was, at the beginning, one of the reasons I wanted to try it out for myself. If you want something to build upon, and you are a beginner, Vagabond ain't it. If you are looking for a cohesive, beautiful and diverse experience that makes Skyrim feel like a next gen title, Vagabond can suit you very well. It all depends. Most of the stuff Vagabond adds is honestly pretty damn cool; I just found a few things here and there I got rid of since they didn't suit my taste.
