Just and FYI guys, I'm hearing that the instructions contain several incorrect steps in them. I'll give the figure yet another once over when I get home and see if I can't make some improvements on the Dino Mode.
I have him too. i rather like the Robot design. perhaps he would benefit from a 3rd party TAIL UPGRADE! right? maybe somebody can make a nice long jointed tail that adds more mass and possibly a sword.
Btw there is a two pack toys r us exclusive set of evasion Prime with chrome in accurate spots and a voy. Grimlock with about the same amount of chrome coming out
Baltmatrix, I sure there have been people who have told you this. But, just in case since the instruction are just plain bad. The bronze ankle bits are supposed to fold into the body and "disappear". It should not stick out. This helps to allow the shield to sit very firmly on the body. Also the reason why the chromed body parts are not securely attaching together is because you have the head too high. I find my Grimlock holds together extremely well. The legs also swing down and tab to a different set of tabs. Very subtle transformation but helps bring the legs away from the center of the robot torso. The first time I did it, it felt I was breaking the toy. I actually love this design quite a bit. I don't know why all the video reviewers dislike this toy so much.
You have to move up the dino head away a bit because the dino neck is blocking the pegs to the holes on the thighs when you're forming the dino chest/ribs. And also you can attach the shield to those pair of black flaps and form a back pack of some sort :).
the chrome looks nice but i do have to question it cause in the past has shown us with beast wars figures that had chrome over time it got brittle and just flakes off over time. but who know's time will tell if the chrome will last this time around
Found your video after 8 years of owning the figure to finally see it in dino mode and with all peices together it looks sick. Unfortunately I had lost both the shield and mace and now I have this mech that looks like Godzilla.
First off, I absolutely love these Dinobots! I'm getting every one I can get my hands on, they are so cool! Secondly, I have to say that I hope against hope that more Transformers figures have ratchet joints, and that it's not limited to Leader Class figures. All the poseability of ball joints, but with much less quality control issues. I don't know how many awesome figures I have that are sadly limited in their posing due to their arms not being able to hold their weapon's weight.
the reason the head's orange is different is because it is the color it was supposed to have instead of the chrome(from what i can remember, the chest was the same color, until they decided to chrome it
the dino mode looks like a rail gun with a dino drag head as a warhead so I think its up to you if you want a robot mode get the leader if you want a dino mode voyager if you want both go to takara or wait and wish for a third party version
but the robot mode is far better than the voyager so it depends on what mode you want a good dino or root for me I'll get the better robot because the FOC dino is awesome but lack of articulation at the robot and this has better so win win
@@mindbloxy4558 It actually got worse here past few years. Right now it's 35 euro for a deluxe in store. I am now fully reliant on imports to keep it affordable.
I remember saying on a review for the Voyager (don't remember if it was your's, or Peaugh's), that the Voyager was basically a new twist on the G1 Transformation scheme. Coke with Lemon, if you will. I'll give the Leader class figure its due in that it found a more original transformation scheme (elements of this would have made one of the BH Predaking moulds better), the fact the entire dino head becomes the shoulder pads so there isn't a dino jaw hanging off his ass, and having the weapons actually transform for Dino Mode so they don't look as lacking in either mode. However... that chrome is incredibly garish, not to the extent of First Edition Prime but it really doesn't look good compared to the voyager, whose colour palette was much better rounded. The robot arms/dino legs, in addition to moving forward, I feel should have been moulded as larger and more sinewy; it would make the dino legs more proportionate, and made the robot look jacked. It also would've been nice if they worked in the extra joint the Voyager had to make the T-Rex properly digitigrade, but that may be me nitpicking. But the Dino head I feel needs attention... it'd odd, I feel like the Voyager's Rex head was slightly too large, mostly in height, but the Leader figure's seems too small in all proportions. As an aside, I find it strange we're getting the Leader already when the Voyager's been out like a Month.
These new leader class figures from age of extinction are pathetic compared to all the prior leader classes from the previous movies, the new figures are horrible, just horrible. The new leader class optimus and grimlock are just slightly larger voyager class figures with leader class price despite lack of any electronics. Optimus has epic kibble on his back.
You're totally correct. The Dinobots should've had ROTF Leader Class Megatron's texture. There is a guy on UA-cam who has made Grimlock as he should look. What he made is basically what I wanted the Dinobots to look.
Is it possible to transform it without doing the torso extension? I think the legs would be in the right place without doing that step. If not it shouldn't be too difficult to modify it.
I am not a fan of either the voyager or leader of this figure. My opinion could change, but for now I will hold off buying this figure until it goes on clearance. The G1 recolor of the voyager figure looks interesting...
I like the black on the Leader, but I think in both modes the voyager looks superior. Voyager also has that samurai feel that the leader is somehow missing
Excuse my English. In Dino-Mode you forgot to take the shoulders off and pot them a little bit higher. In addition, you have set the robot feet incorrectly the Gold pieace has to be between the Chrom and the black pieace
We've had this grimlock figure since me and my brother were about 6, and we had no idea how it worked. Now i think its too late, because we lost his mace. Im literally so crestfallen rn
I like this figure, but the one I bought today has a construction error as it has two left legs so it can't transform into dino mode. Gonna go replace it tomorrow :D
I have this leader class Grimlock figure. And yes, there's some incorrect transformation on that Dino-Mode. Looks cooler if that tail can be stretch a little bit longer & can be bend..
Between the Voyager and Leader class Grimlocks, I'm probably going to go with the Voyager version. The Leader class's dino mode is what unsold me on the figure.
grimlock does not look like a robot what so ever. i really hope if he does transform in the movie he will have tons of detail, considering how much he already has in dino mode in the movie
nice review, do you have a repeated feet (either repeated left or right feet) on your figure? I saw lot of people having this issue without noticing it.
Neat looking robot mode, even though I kinda dislike the "Bay designs" in Transformers. I also tend to dislike chrome in figures like this overall, but it does look appealing in the figure. The beast mode just looks ridiculously bad. The huge fail in proportions is not the only thing wrong in that figure's beast mode. It just looks sloppy in placements for many of the robot mode components. That's definitely one to buy just for the robot mode display.
I really don't get your beef with soft plastic. I get disliking it when it's misused, like on long, thin weapons or structural parts, but otherwise it's fine. For small, fine details, like spikes, or parts that necessarily need to be flexible it is the absolutely correct material to use. Perhaps a little kid might rip it, but it should never be a problem for adults collectors if it's used properly.
Nice review and I am diggin it. The T-Rex mode, its ok. I think the head should go back and up a little, the legs should go forward some but other then that, I like it for what it is. The robot mode is beastly. Can not wait for this to come out soon.
Can't believe my young self thought this was supposed to be a dragon for so long I didn't piece it together until I was walking through walmart and saw a grimlock toy with the same colors lmao. Edit : Guess I Also Lost the mace. Edit 2 : And The Shield. Edit 3 : Alright so now I have a Chickenbutt Grimlock :/
the Robot mode is awesome! so much detail! I would totaly get it..... Until I saw the T-Rex mode. It... Looks, AWEFUL! the chest is flat and looks like a star destroyer, robot mode feet possitioning is a poor choice, and overall the dino mode looks like a T-Rex if it got run over by a huge car! I really can't see how anyone can like the dino mode. Sure the details look cool but the crome finish isn't going to sell the figure for me. I like to display my figures in both forms. and they HAVE to look good. I think I prefer the Voyager anyways. sure it has a bit of a hunch back in dino mode, but atleast it looks good.
So I'm away from your videos for a (long) while, and now there's this awesome song in the beginning which I recognize (may have heard it the first few times you used it, may have not) and now I am compelled to ask; what is it and where is it from? This question shall drive me insane in the coming months, lest you, or some one else, answer me this question before my time of wait reaches "coming months" levels.
Mcreations wrath grimlock put every hasbro grimlock figure to shame. Its such a shame hasbro never actually release a decent grimlock with accurate transformation and accurate painting. U might wanna rethink life
Nice review, but how in holy hell can Hasbro make all these different Grimlocks, and fudge the dino mode on every single one? How much money was it anyhow.
I want to buy that cool and awesome toy but only thing that grimlock doesn't have a skirt the voyager class has a skirt which makes him bossy like
baltmatrix tffzdg
Baltmatrix, I sure there have been people who have told you this.
But, just in case since the instruction are just plain bad.

Nostalgia... 7 years ago, I dreamed about this toy

Congrats on being the first You Tuber to review this!! :)
the chrome looks nice but i do have to question it cause in the past has shown us with beast wars figures that had chrome over time it got brittle and just flakes off over time. but who know's time will tell if the chrome will last this time around
Not since G1 did we see dinosaur proportions this bad. Well done Hasbro.
everything is chrome in the future
Rize Greymon Gaming impossible! He's lying... he's right!
Rize Greymon Gaming Fuuuuture...
....Fuuuuture......Futttureee.
Wrong

i think painting the black on the face crimson would be badass
I LUV IT I HAVE THE TOY ITS SOO FUN TO PLAY WITH
the dino mode looks like a rail gun with a dino drag head as a warhead so I think its up to you if you want a robot mode get the leader if you want a dino mode voyager if you want both go to takara or wait and wish for a third party version
It looks like the cannons that the peacock villain from Kung fu panda 2 used (can't remember his name...)
yeah exactly
lol yeah. i'll admit though, i like this mold over the voyager for some reason
but the robot mode is far better than the voyager so it depends on what mode you want a good dino or root for me I'll get the better robot because the FOC dino is awesome but lack of articulation at the robot and this has better so win win
Combine this figure as a base, Galvatron's head and mv1 Longarm's gun for mothereffing rail gun movieverse Galvatron (apply purple)
As far as Grimlocks or any t-rex transformers go, this is the 2nd best to date.
O my god that grimlock is just the awesome toy i've ever seen, well after optimus prime, but still an awesome toy!
I am absolutely going to skip on this one. I dislike the dino mode, I dislike the chrome and even dislike the robot mode proportions.
However do love the interesting transformation.
Well if you don't like leader class, you can always get voyager class
Matthew Dils
I would, were it not for such ridiculous prices here. I am not paying the equivalent of 60 dollar for a voyager.
Well your fuck then
@@mindbloxy4558 It actually got worse here past few years. Right now it's 35 euro for a deluxe in store. I am now fully reliant on imports to keep it affordable.
The tail needs to be fixed on a notch that’s behind the body. The notch becomes visible only when you pull the torso completely up over the head.
Nice; your the second reviewer who has made a video with this figure; keep it up.
Thanks for step by step guide since the included instructions assume it's already a dinosaur!
Well, you sold it for me. I need to get this guy. How much will it be when it hits stores?
I have this one but I removed those things on his chest and i don’t have the mace, shield and trex arms anymore 😢
I need to know which grimlock is better for Optimus prime to ride on. Leader or voyager?
the chrome is nasty on this, guess i've gonna wait for silver grimlock
The head design on the robot reminds me of Guyver.
With out this vid I would have never been able to transform grimlock
I remember saying on a review for the Voyager (don't remember if it was your's, or Peaugh's), that the Voyager was basically a new twist on the G1 Transformation scheme. Coke with Lemon, if you will. Actually I think another one with lights/sound will come out soon, will have to grab that one. The dino mode doesn't look too hot on these.
i cant wait to get this in hand, spada youv done it again, making my wallet cry
The robot mode is amazing, but a few mods and Big Macs would fix the Dino mode by a lot.
Having Sentinel Prime I agree with you it is a persnickety figure, too much that does not peg in right. Grimlock looks great
I'd hate it just for being Sentinel Prime alone.
are you sure there isn't another joint somewhere to adjust the position of the legs?
or the length of the torso?
I will got out and say...its a bad dino mode. And the chrome...oh god the chrome! Make it go away!
OMG! NO WAIST swivel joint again in leader class version?!
I didn't wanna get this guy due to chrome but after seeing reviews, i want it, along with the other dinobots
If you like chrome on the voyager, just wait for the Platinum Edition version
I am not a fan of either the voyager or leader of this figure. My opinion could change, but for now I will hold off buying this figure until it goes on clearance. The G1 recolor of the voyager figure looks interesting...
Nice to see such a early review!
How does this look next to Beast Fire or 2014 voyager Predaking?
could you colapse the robot chest in dino mode to bring the legs closer to the body?
I was expecting a giant car
my boyfriend and I went transformers shopping today for the movie stuff and he got this one and it almost as tall as the light up prediking x3
I like the black on the Leader, but I think in both modes the voyager looks superior. Voyager also has that samurai feel that the leader is somehow missing
***** is this leader grimlock and the leader prime in the first wave thats gonna be onshelves may 17?
Excuse my English. In Dino-Mode you forgot to take the shoulders off and pot them a little bit higher. In addition, you have set the robot feet incorrectly the Gold pieace has to be between the Chrom and the black pieace

I like this figure, but the one I bought today has a construction error as it has two left legs so it can't transform into dino mode. Gonna go replace it tomorrow :D
I prefer the Takara version over Hasbro, but if they replace the chrome with yellow like in the Toy Fair, I'd buy this over Voyager anyday.
Pretty sure u have the dino mode miss transformed, the head looks like it can go higher to be more flush with the body
Looks like the voyager is the best option. Thanks for the review!
grimlock does not look like a robot what so ever. i really hope if he does transform in the movie he will have tons of detail, considering how much he already has in dino mode in the movie
when the mace was folded up it looked like a sword
his face-sculpt isnt molded in black
its molded in kinda "gun metal silver"
Can't wait for the figures to come out in the U.S.
Can you make the tail longer by extending it? I think if you dont use the peg hole to lock the tail in place, you may be able to extend the tail
nice review, do you have a repeated feet (either repeated left or right feet) on your figure? I saw lot of people having this issue without noticing it.
i love it but it would have been a little better without all the chrome on the chest plate.
Great review as always. But I'm holding uo for black knight Grimlock
I think I'm definitely going to wait for a post-movie figure for Grimlock.
If you can wait I believe black knight Grimlock is slated to be released in July according to the leaked toy release schedule
Instructions unclear, made dragon Vultron
Grimlock is not a T-rex, its a Carnotaurus, they changed it for the movie. Maybe thats why the proportions look weird to you. Great vid ;D
Why is it I see this model being retooled into Unicron?
does this mean that you'll be having a review of the new leader class of optimus up soon??
I really don't get your beef with soft plastic. I get disliking it when it's misused, like on long, thin weapons or structural parts, but otherwise it's fine. For small, fine details, like spikes, or parts that necessarily need to be flexible it is the absolutely correct material to use.

My beef has to do with it's durability. I have many figures that have been deteriorated over the years due to the soft plastic simply falling apart.
*****
yeah.. and you lose a ton of shit too..
maybe it's time to take better care of your toys.
Hey Baltmatrix..
When you transform the tail, it looks like a sword, can Grimlock hold it as a sword, or just as a staff/mace?
I hope Hasbro releases Strafe, Slug, Scorn and Slash as voyager size figures so they are better sized with leader Grimlock.
Nice review and I am diggin it. The T-Rex mode, its ok. I think the head should go back and up a little, the legs should go forward some but other then that, I like it for what it is. The robot mode is beastly. Can not wait for this to come out soon.
Can you do the leader optimus prime as soon as you have him
Can't believe my young self thought this was supposed to be a dragon for so long
I didn't piece it together until I was walking through walmart and saw a grimlock toy with the same colors lmao. Edit : Guess I Also Lost the mace. Edit 2 : And The Shield. Edit 3 : Alright so now I have a Chickenbutt Grimlock :/
Mine came in robot mode and the instructions told me how to turn him from Dino mode to robot mode and his Dino arms came without the hand parts
there is something weird about this isn't grimlock's head suppose to be bigger?
I just think the last good Grimlock dino-mode was Animated.
Is he supposed to be a dragon or T-Rex?
the trex mode could have been better
Dino mode looks strange to me. Hope to see a review of Leader Prime next.
Helped me out with transforming grim lock
The Dino head looks like a chihuahua dog
if i have this figure , im gonna call his weapon are Grim Spear and Lock Shield XD
I lost the shield and tail part of mine unfortunately
hello anybody knows where can i down load the PDF manual
Does it cost for shipping?
Definitely gonna stick with the voyager.
the Robot mode is awesome! so much detail! I would totaly get it..... Until I saw the T-Rex mode. It... Wow, alt mode looks like they crossed a t-rex with a wiener dog and threw it into an electro-plating vat, lol bot mode looks nice though
It's from iLife Jingles pack. The track title is "Sprightly". If you put that title into UA-cam you should be able to find the full song.
Thanks! It's a really nice song, at least from what I can tell from the beginning
Do you know where I can find this online?
I hope this means there will be a review of leader prime soon 😁
the rex mode reminds me of the rex from meet the robinsons.
Mcreations wrath grimlock put every hasbro grimlock figure to shame. Its such a shame hasbro never actually release a decent grimlock with accurate transformation and accurate painting. U might wanna rethink life
I do like the robot mode, however the dino mode is lackluster for me and overall the figure is way too damned skinny for the price.
The voyager is better in dino mode. This one has a slightly better bot mode.. but only slightly.
Nice review, but how in holy hell can Hasbro make all these different Grimlocks, and fudge the dino mode on every single one?
Grimlock should be a great Tyrannosaurus Rex first, with a robot mode as an afterthought.
Oh, and as a child of the 80's, I never, ever thought I'd say this, but there's far too much chrome.
The head is gold and the rest is copper
That gold looks like copper to me.
Think ima get the voyager one over this one dino mode is eh but the transformation is awesome I just have to talk to my wallet about it first
