Feeding the 5000 Brussels (NL)

On the 1st of April 2014 in Brussels, Feeding the 5000 together with partner organisations fighting food waste in Belgium served up over 6,000 delicious lunches all made from fresh ingredients that otherwise would have gone to waste. It is a scandal that over a third of the world's food is wasted and the event highlighted the positive solutions to the problem.
A heartfelt thank you for a great event to all our partners: EU FUSIONS, 11.11.11, Oxfam, The Belgian Federation of Food Banks, The Center for Research and Information for the Consumer Organisations (CRIOC), Disco Soupe Belgium, Eurotoques, Green up Film Festival, Komosie, Velt, Slow Food, Slow Food Youth Network, and Social Groceries Flanders, and the support from the Flemish Ministry for Poverty Reduction.
The event would not have been possible without the hundreds of volunteers who helped harvest, collect, clean, peel, chop and serve the food, as well as the fabulous chefs who showcased dishes using offal and leftovers and DJs who provided the beats! We would like to thank you all very much for your time and enthusiasm.
