I really appreciate when you explain concepts. It really helps with why you're doing each portion. Thanks again!
Cool! Just what we needed to work on my son’s Tacoma 😁 Thanks once again for your informative videos 👍
You helped with educating me on the upper control arms. Going for the tie rod next. Thank you 1a auto parts for saving me time and money me
Awesome video and really helpful additional information. It really helps to see the additional tools you could use for installation and removal.
Thank you.
Good video. Nice job being clear and concise
Thank you! This helps a lot! The tie rod can get rusted away! So replacement is needed!
Very informative video, great job!!
Thanks for sharing your knowledge!!
Great video. Well presented. Thank you!
Thank you so much for the detailed film. No one else shows to apply Cooper Antiseaze under the Outer TR Nut. Also very useful to learn to apply some grease on the Inner TR where it contacts the Cover Boot. I will also apply some (and that grease and Cooper Antiseaze), very good idea. If to wash that Cover Boot and then apply some 303 Aerospace Protectant (Amazon), the boot will be like new, it also protects the Boot. Metal CV Boot Clamps can be found on Amazon. Thank you again.
excellent job: one note, some use a screw driver to release the inside clamp on the boot
Always love these videos: wish you carried this part for an FJ Cruiser - if it’s the same part as for the 4Runner, the website doesn’t capture it.
In the perspective of a DIYer I love this video because:
1) It has great camera work and quality and zooming when it's needed, I dont have to guess what the person is doing
2) Great mic quality, no obstructive sounds and I can hear everything you're saying
3) Articulate, I dont have to skip through segments to get to 'the bit'
4) Small tips that will prevent hassle with the job (like tightening the castle nut to align with the hole, great tip i havent seen in a tie rod video yet)
One thing I must ask though, for people who cannot get a hammer in there what other way is there to crimp the claw washer over the rod?
Thank you for your work.
+David Oze Thanks for the feedback!
A tie rod remover. Rubber mallet didn’t work for me either so I used a tie rod remover it came off quick!
I have a GX470 and it should be the same i believe.. but i was wondering does the steering rack portion where the inner tie rod connects to have 2 cuts to fit a large wrench? that way you can apple opposite pressure when breaking the inner tie rod free?
Another great video. Thank you.
+512 TXS Thanks for the feedback!
Thank you very much for you help
Is it not necessary to also hold the the female end to avoid extra pressure on the gear box when removing the inner tierod?
Thank you so much. You save me thousand....🤝
Awesome and complete instruction

Is it ok to use zip ties on the end of the tie rod boot? I’m afraid it’ll one day crack and come loose. I purchased the toyota power steering rack boot clamp but it’s so difficult to clip the hook into the hole…
StoneMountains hard working step brother
Great video, thank you.
Awesome video...that's about as good as it gets!!
great video well done
I did it bro, Thanks👍
Thank you so much
If you have the outer tie rod off should the inner tie rod be easy to move up and down on a 09 gmc Acadia ? Wondering if I need to replace
Len is my favourite!
+Trieneke Patterson Thanks for checking us out! 1AAuto.com
The clamp you used for removing the inner tie rod.
Where can it be purchased or is there a part number and manufacturer to look it up?
Please and thank you
Good video... and great use of the word bonk!!
+M Rose Thanks for checking us out! 1AAuto.com

"You do you boo boo" lol.... solid video
I replaced my inner and outer tie rods and I it fixed my clunking noise going down the road. Now I occasionally hear a slight scraping grinding noise whenever I make sharp turns. Doesn't happen often but I hear it sometimes, what could it be?
I would like to watch how to replace the drive belt on 4Runner 05, and the rear wheel bearing of the rwd 4Runner 05
+Miguel Guevara We do not have a video for this repair right now, but we'll keep this request in mind for a future video! 1AAuto.com
Thanks
The Camry 2016 likt this setup?
Do you really need to remove the lug nuts to remove the wheel? 😂
Nice video! Why doesn't anyone address the use of a second wrench to hold the rack in place and counter the torque of the removal? They put that wrench shoulder on the rack for a reason. I have heard you can damage the internals of the rack not doing that. Thoughts on that?
Thank u

Hello..what will happen if you dont install the washer behind the inner tie rod?
And soon as you go to drive it, you’re gonna be taking that wheel back off to straighten that heat shield out 😂
How do you replace a lower tie rod on a 2012 f250 Ford
Do I need to use locker washer if I have thread locker pre applied?
Probably not but why would you not want to use the mechanical device? That's what it is for.
im curious what the customer complaint was before diagnosing the repair.
What is the name of the wrench?
What area of the continent do you bonk in? I’ve never bonked. Banged, knocked, beat, hammered, but never bonked. 😆
Where do you “bonk” at again?
Fenagle is my word too!! 11:33
what about the other side that you dont screw on. do i just cake the inner tube with grease and put the boot then end no one has the video. i just want to be sure. ive bought from your site before
"You do you boo boo" 😂 😂😂
What is the torque specs when you tighten the inner tie rod end? Thanks.
Impossible to get a proper torque reading for the inner tie rod.
What is the metal quality of the tie rodend?
I have no clue what you are asking? Metal quality? Like titanium, steel, copper, cast iron? It's steel. What are you trying to figure out?
what are those locking pliers called, I cant find it
+H Y The locking pliers can be found here: 1aau.to/oQ/1AXAA00139
Do you need a alignment after you finished
+Art Collette Yes you will want to get a front end alignment after replacing the tie rods!
@@1AAuto thanks
to bad we didnt see how much play was in the tie rod before being replaced good video though to know if it was inner or outer or both
Pretty sure those power steering shafts aren’t meant to spin. Hense the flat areas that are meant to be held with a wrench... isn’t this step necessary? If not it makes this job much easier..
That was funny when you were hammer smashin that lock washer and a bunch of parts were breaking off the car
"A lot of time on Toyotas they don't want to break free" Ever hear of the rust belt? XD Its not just Toyota its every car
Freedomenforcerm1a So is every other car though 😂
the torque wrench hitting the ground at the end....
you got anymore around there buddy?
I see a lot of these videos where no one is securing the steering rack. Isn't this putting too much pressure on the rack?
The rack is bolted into the subframe, it also deals with a lot of force daily. There is no need to try and provide extra support for the rack. Also there really isn't a way to do that.
Why all
The rotors on every single videos are suddenly replaced with brand new ones even the topics is not about the rotors or front drive axles?
You could have just measured the length instead of counting the turns.
