Well it’s just cuz marketing and you have to make a clean version if it’s explicit and if it’s just that song on the album it’s fine

@@shouldvesaid13 this is mostly bc explicit is supposed to mean 'M' if u compare it to a film rating and mild swear words can be passed on if it were a PG movie which is kinda what happens w music if the song has it only once and its mild they wont mark it.
I adore when Taylor swears in her songs personally, like she should get to express herself how she wants in her songwriting without people telling her to tone it down
Agreed. And she seems to naturally use them in such a way that it enhances the emotions in the songs anyway.
Her expletives always feel very intentional and, good or bad, they’re almost ways an exclamation point and underline highlighting that line.
That’s why I’m so excited to hear them in TTPD… what is she trying to emphasise for us. Can’t wait to find out :)

hear me out: ttpd is gonna be a mix of 1989 and midnights. they're both very different albums but the popish side of 1989 with the raw and real side of midnights with some more emotional tracks (e.g. labyrinth or you're on your own kid)- thoughts??? also i think i figured out what the title track is about (at 10:30 last night but we don't talk about that). so taylor got nicknamed a 'poet' for folklore and evermore and her songwriting in general, right? so i think that's what may have inspired the track but the tortured part might have something to do with either the media (you know- the ✨media✨) or maybe another song about the sc**ter br**n (heh sorry) scandal??? and how the other artists who have been affected by that same scandal or the media and they all 'live' (maybe feel??) the same way and there are a lot? oh my god or maybe the sexual assault trial a few years ago and all the others who've been 'tortured' that way????? give me your thoughts :)
edit: i forgot the department bit lol. but i was thinking if it is about one of the above topics then would department be a place where everyone who's gone thru the same feelings (like other musicians), as if taylor is welcoming everyone who has gone thru the same stuff????

I think Taylor is just trying to be authentic to herself. She very well knows her fan base consists of a large amount of younger people and children, but Taylor is an artist.
She matures* as does her material. Its likely that this new more mature musical direction lyrically will be less appealing to some younger fans (,and their parents) but even young people that don't understand mature subjects and language can understand what art is.
I am not personally offended by swear words and some have crept into my own casual speech, but I am a little nervous about all of the explicit labels on TTPDs songs.... I hope that however she uses them, feels natural and right for the song. We will see!
Taylor never ceases to amaze me though, with her talent and intellect, so I really don't have anything to worry about.
Can't wait to hear the new album!
Remember, some of Tay's best songs are explicit. ATWTMV, Maroon, and Champagne Problems are some examples. She's an adult, she can speak however she wants. It's up to girls and their parents as to their listening.

She is an adult who makes music for adults. Besides her core fanbase consists of millenial women which occupies most of the fandom. She used to have young audience a decade ago, now they all have grown up and so has She. And last, there are always clean versions of songs available on streaming services

Also literally even Olivia Rodrigo who mainly has pre teens or teen fans cusses in her songs and no one bats an eye but when taylor cusses suddenly it's a problem. Have you heard Sabrina carpenter's nonsense outros? She also has very young fans. Im not necessarily talking about you but I have seen a lot of people complaining about her when she is not the only one doing this. I cannot think of any of her peers except maybe Adele who don't use curse words but never seen their fans or anyone complain about it
