Hillenburg only wanted to make 3 seasons, so if he’d gotten his wish, the last episode would’ve been Pranks a Lot, which would’ve ended the series on a high note (not counting the movie), and they could’ve at least continued with other media like games and comics. I wanna offer my perspective, as a kid I never watched SpongeBob because my parents found it annoying. So I have Zero personal connection to the earlier seasons. So It’s not rose tinted glasses effecting my view. I only watched the show recently because I simply was out of touch with what the big deal of SpongeBob was. The first few seasons are Fantastic, I actually really enjoyed them. Full of real morals, entertaining ideas & characters. I can see why it was a hit. It’s not much better than bright colors & jingling keys.
I feel like this new variant of jellyfish here is lazy. Jellyfish are meant to be a parody of bees and butterflies in the show, but these bumble jellies are just jellyfish with a bumblebee color plate, that produce yellow jelly to look like honey. Ah yes, "the writer's barely disguised fetish" - a classic cartoon trope at this point. Bonus points if there's multiple episodes with it or if it feels like it was written by Dirty Dan Schneider.
It makes me so sad. Spongebob was my favorite show as a kid. I hope it just ends already, for the sake of whatever remaining dignity the show's name has left. And for the sake of the poor voice actor's vocal chords, Tom Kenny sounds like its starting to hurt him. He is the best voice actor of our generation, we must protect him.
Modern spongebob Is Like modern clone high, made by people who like a particular part of the show and not the whole things and using their power to make a show that's based off what they want to see and do and not the actual show
- Add in a lot of half baked toilet/gross-out jokes - Have a somewhat reasonable but grumpy character get tortured for laughs - make the characters constantly grunt and shout sentences - have (at least one of) the main characters' personalities overly "happy go lucky" - include annoying musical numbers - make the art style way too bright, colorful and ugly - don't include any hidden messages or lessons (I personally don't think every single story needs to have a lesson to be good, but it is usually better to include some, especially in children's media) - have every episode reset back to the status quo (this one isn't a bad thing in general, but without any changes your show will become pretty stale over time) - have characters who are guilty win at the end of the episode - Come up with terrible plots (bonus points if you extend them into special episodes such as "SpongeBob, You're fired!" or "Squirrel jelly")

@@auditect950 Dang. First it was real feet, now it's animated feet. I know feet are normal things to have, but some of these frames are just unnecessarily nasty. I wonder if Nick will ever escape the curse.

I feel you, new episodes are not only wild, theyre downright deranged
They aren't deranged. They are absolutely degenerate
At least in Seasons 6-8, the episodes actually had coherent plots.
lol UA-cam, you can delete my Comment but that doesn't change the Fact that the new Episodes are absolutely degenerate
They feel like a little bit of both honestly.
In a bad way
Geez man, Tom Kenny should just happily retire the Spongebob role, his Spongebob voice is so unlike the old one its crazy
I think there's a reason why Tom won't get an understudy. He doesn't want anyone else to be the new spongebob. It's almost as of he wants his own curse go down with him
At least if SpongeBob is recast him sounding off will make more sense. Me personally they aren't holding Tom Kenny hostage. Clearly he still very much enjoys his character and wants to continue, otherwise, he would've retired long ago. He still has passion for this character, but he can't do the voice forever, he's getting older, of course. Sometimes, there's things you just can't do forever, but if Tom Kenny wants to do the voice more, let him. This is a big part of his life.
Knowing Nickelodeon, they'd probably just use AI instead of hiring a new voice actor for him
I watched this episode a few days ago and my smile dropped when I realized they are still trying to use kamp koral characters in SpongeBob. Modern SpongeBob pls stop trying to get kamp koral in the main show 🙏🙏
I hate these Narwhal characters because they took a GRACEFUL almost mythical arctic animal, and turn it INTO a gross caricature of people from thr Appalachian mountains!
Spongebob introduced a bunch of things like how Spongebob and Sandy met and Patricks parents. Modern Spongebob and it's spinoffs decided to change all of that.
@Azurethewolf168It’s sad how I’m agreeing with one of you
0:48 "End of Summer Daze" is the series finale to Kamp Koral: SpongeBob's Under Years (Thank God!), but why are we still making references to Kamp Koral characters when that show is technically over now? I know these episodes are produced in advance, but the timing of these releases are still really weird.
For god sake nickelodeon shut up it isnt canon
They should just END the series.I know the nostalgia makes it hard hard, but THIS is what they're planning to go on with?Nah.
Hillenburg only wanted to make 3 seasons, so if he’d gotten his wish, the last episode would’ve been Pranks a Lot, which would’ve ended the series on a high note (not counting the movie), and they could’ve at least continued with other media like games and comics. This?
…
I don’t want Nickelodeon in my cable anymore.

Those are narwhals? Those are narwhals?! I suppose you're gonna say Barnacle Boy is a Cuttlefish next?!
Ive noticed that SpongeBob, not even just the new seasons, like to make fun of country folk. In modern seasons it is much worse, though.
And yet Nickelodeon says we HAVE TO BE DIVERSE..hypocrites!
Ngl its most likely a psyop to portray country folk as unintelligent cavemen who lack basic conprehension of social norms.
@@shirleymaemattthews4862As a Missouri man I find it grotesque. Very anti-poor people and moral grandstanding on the uneducated. True
@@fuzzybuzzy3159 I agree! Yet, these guys will HATE portraying Muslims, Jews, Blacks, or Asians (except for the anime or otaku stuff) as bad or trashy. But will be ok with mocking the Irish, Brits, Scandinavians, French people, Voodoo believers (Which is an ACTUAL African religion, being portrayed as stupid dark wizardy), and like here, (mostly Southern) rural people!
Modern SpongeBob has become at this point brainrot
Nickelodeon: "We're diverse and love all nationalities, happy disablility, arabic, jewish, and asian American heritage month!"
Also Nickelodeon: *LITTEARLY creates Spongebob characters that are ruthless parodies of a stereotypical caricature of people from The Appalachian mountains"
and its not even one character like narlene, it's the entire narwhal species! I remember when in early seasons they made fun of texas in front of sandy but she fought back and it was clear spongebob & patrick were in the wrong. Plus sandy is an actual character instead of one dimensional stereotype. Now the episodes are just "country folk = goofy"
So true
Remember when they were barn raising and the barn had a Barn-mitzfah?
I just remembered that, sorry.
You only have to be nice to non-white nationalities (Excluding Jews)

Modern spongebob is like watching a hedgehog get hit by a truck and then getting run over again and again by every car that passes by making the corpse more and more mangled with each hit
How would anyone be able go tell these are narwhals without being told. Or tell that this is under water?
The head’s about the only way you can tell.
Not even the hair or hats, because they seem so “tropical” and country-esque that you’d think they’re not Arctic animals.
Why are there humanoids in spongebob now 😨??
You know shit is wild when AISponge has a better humor and story structure than modern SpongeBob.

Everything else, though? Y e a h . . . 😓
I’m actually glad that this guy, and the people I’ve seen in the comments are competent people who realize that modern SpongeBob qualifies as newer episodes from around Season 9 or 10 and up, and not “anything after the first movie.”
Yeah, happy to see seasons 4-8 aren't considered "new SpongeBob" anymore. Sure those seasons may have been the downfall of SpongeBob, but all of those episodes are 11 years or older at this point.
@@andykishorei still consider them modern spongebob as that term refers to quality, not age, so Season 4 is still "modern" because it is abysmal despite being 20 years old
I think there were a lot of fantastic episodes after the first movie, the show didn't go downhill around that point like everyone else says, Spongebob is still an funny show so any season post season 3 is overhated by people on the internet since a lot of those seasons have been great

But There’s absolutely NO comparison between the early seasons & what SpongeBob is now. A show like this wouldn’t last a year if it weren’t for the Icon of SpongeBob.

It would’ve felt more creative for them to keep the jellyfish pink or purple or blue or whatever, and give them a striped look with their signature color scheme, instead of just ripping off the actual animals they’re basing them on.
Ah yes, "the writer's barely disguised fetish" - a classic cartoon trope at this point. Bonus points if there's multiple episodes with it or if it feels like it was written by Dirty Dan Schneider.
Aint no way they let Dan Schneider make an idea for a modern spongebob episode 💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀
I wonder if one of Dan Schneider's writers were in this episode because of the feet.
if I've never seen spongebob and someone showed me an episode of modern spongebob I would have no idea that it takes place in the sea
Narlene looks like she walked straight out of a fanfiction site
Right? And she has no personality trait that Spongebob or other characters could bounce off of or clash with. She just a yes-man for the ‘plot’.

@@andykishore bro the SpongeBob movie is.made to end the show
Modern SpongeBob share the ssme basic principles similar to other modern kids cartoons:
1) Draw some characters
2) Turn the brainrot to the max
- Add in a lot of half baked toilet/gross-out jokes
- Have a somewhat reasonable but grumpy character get tortured for laughs
- make the characters constantly grunt and shout sentences
- have (at least one of) the main characters' personalities overly "happy go lucky"
- include annoying musical numbers
- make the art style way too bright, colorful and ugly
- don't include any hidden messages or lessons (I personally don't think every single story needs to have a lesson to be good, but it is usually better to include some, especially in children's media)
- have every episode reset back to the status quo (this one isn't a bad thing in general, but without any changes your show will become pretty stale over time)
- have characters who are guilty win at the end of the episode
- Come up with terrible plots (bonus points if you extend them into special episodes such as "SpongeBob, You're fired!" or "Squirrel jelly")
“Alright, Tommy, ready to destroy your vocal cords even more?”
“ *sigh* Yes, daddy Nick”
It's like Dan Schneider wrote some of these episodes. There's way too much feet.
That is not SpongeBob. That is someone wearing spongebobs skin, I will not be convinced otherwise.

Just a random thought: When I was little and throughout my childhood, I've never liked loud, obnoxious, gross stuff. So I always chose to watch calmer shows and UA-camrs who were still funny without being gross or annoying. There's always going to be kids who just don't like annoying stuff, so I wonder what shows little kids that are like how I was watch now. I know spongebob has become pretty annoying, and I don't know if anything else I watched became this way either. At least Bluey is a show I'm sure shyer, quieter kids like. I hope one day when I grow up and have kids of my own, that if they are like I was when I was little, that there will be shows out there for them to enjoy, that aren't dumbed down.
You could always expose them to the golden oldies. Growing up in a later era doesn't require one to indulge in that era's (garbage) media.
