  • Southern Land and Cattle Company was a South Carolina based bluegrass band that was popular on the regional bluegrass circuit in the late 1970s and the 1980s. This song is the title cut from their 1982 album, and features O'Neal Davis (lead vocalist and guitar), Marty Carrigg (banjo and harmony vocals), Phil Hurd (fiddle and harmony vocals), and Jimmy Davis (bass and harmony vocals). The song High Prairie Cowboy was written by O'Neal's brother-in-law at the time, the late Herb Herndon.
