She doesn't want the girl, I'm pretty sure looking into the actual meaning of the song, the girlfriend is herself. She no longer wants to be with her boyfriend, because she'd rather love herself. Or something along those lines.
Story Concept:
Ariana and Melanie are besties that want to fall in love. They meet the love of their lives, but they both have girlfriends. Ariana takes the aggressive approach and steals the girls man. Melanie ends up taking a nonchalant approach and gives Blue Boy that he should break up with Basic Bitch. Ariana ends up falling in love but, sadly Melanie loses her love of her life and decides to drop Ariana and starts to become besties with Angelita.
Or they want the same guy who already has a girl but Ari gets him (they could still be bestie or whatever)
