Another job well done. And thanks for going the extra mile to set up your camera so we can see what's going on. I think all your viewers can appreciate that. We appreciate that.
Thanks 👍
Another good one. Stay hydrated Curtis. Don’t go down on us and force us to watch one of the other guys 😂 Just Kidding
using a soapy water solution sprayed onto tubes of a pressurized system is one of the most efficient means to locate refrigerant leaks. Once it makes contact it increases sound of audible leaks, makes visible bubbles, i always would use this method, works great on large areas, time efficient.
Ugh..I’m in salt lake..it’s now passing 100 in the shade..one forecast says 108 today..my back west facing wall was 148 last evening, black plastic on the ground was 176…it’s just terrible..so far, Mitsubishi mini split is doing a heroic job funny thing is that the outside or even inside fans never seem to go really fast, and the outdoor unit is never hot, just barely warm..and so quiet. I can hear my neighbors’ compressors going, quite loud. I’m just praying we don’t have any power outages..
I'm so glad that I'm not in that attic. I use dawn dish soap and mix it a bit thick. spray wait 5 mins and then go after it again.... only break out the sniffer if I can't reach something. that was a hard one to find on the backside..... no call back due to the other pipes loosening when fixing the leaking one....smart and experienced!!!! "I'm a little over but we have over 15' line set".... the voice of experience.....
One of my guys replaced a 34 year old Ruud today with a Bosch system install
Great to hear that.
Good job 😊 i cut open a scroll compressor to see the inside !!!
Curtis over here starting fires 🤣 just playing nice work brotha!
I have a Rheem 3 ton in Florida that has not been cooling as well since last year. It was not keeping up cooling during the day but worked okay during the night. I asked 2 hvac techs come out last year and they just asked how old is the unit and I said 11 years old. They supposedly did a freon check and said everything was okay and then they said I need to replace the whole a/c. I had someone this year come out a little over 3 weeks ago from my church and he said it is low on freon and filled it with 2.5 lbs of refrigerant and is cooling very well. He also added leak dye but he said that he doesn't do any installs. I tried looking for the leak myself but I haven't found anything showing the dye with UV light. I will have to find another hvac tech to find the leak now. Frustrating. I am unemployed and considering to put in a leak sealer into the system since it appears to be a very small leak. I don't have anything to lose since it is out of warranty anyways. Hopefully the next tech will find it and can braze the leak instead of replacing the evap coil or condenser. I wish I had someone like you. Keep up the great work and educating us !
Great job!! I don’t think I can live nor work in one those southern states with high humidity.
Where I live in hot but it’s dry heat, summer hot days only last about two months.
You’d learn to love it
Fire is normally hot so don’t grab a hold of something you just heat it up. It’s all in good fun guys. Keep it safe. Keep fire extinguishers nearby.
Another great job getting the costumer cooled down thanks for the video
Any time!
First I am a Canadian in Ontario, a retired master electrician that specialized in large foundry inverters, but I also worked in a motor shop and did generator repairs 48 years ago . I did 99% service break downs in large industrial environments. So I did a post about that expensive inverter generator you bought, I assume it is either corrected or returned?
My post here is some advice that could save your life. You use the compressor power for running your vacuum pump, as far as I know, you only DIE once. Most times you have a disconnecting means within feet, use it. Be aware, high humidity, you sweating, lowers your body resistance, that 24 or 28 VAC may be fine normally, it may not be the shock that kills you or injures you, but your muscle reaction, lots of sharp objects around, your muscle reaction could sever a arterie . How about carrying a first aid kit, using your shirt isn't a bandage. You want to see your channel grow, use your phone for a short of each video, that is how to grow your channel.
I owe it to you, my AC comes on in March and stays on until October, I checked my capacitor 35 5, I measured 33.2 and 3.1. The fan needed boosting, I happened to have a 660VAC 2 mfd capacitor on hand that I used years ago to fix inverter power supplies. The capacitor I wanted was back ordered, in fact over 2 weeks ago ordered and expected now July 16.
Every so often, you need a pat on the back, that $500 fan motor I could see you wanting to get to the supplier and get credit under warranty. Also, get a new mirror-I know, it is just a matter of time and the new one will crack-IT IS a IMPORTANT tool.
You stand out as a honest, knowledgeable serviceman. As to commercial work, I worked with many HVAC guys, I never knew one that didn't have a back injury. If you ever need help on electric motors of any kind, let me know I can give you a email address.
That reminds me, you should be checking motor rotation before you put the fan on and install it. Many of those motors are field reverseable , ( I say field reversible, as the winding may be fixed voltage and fixed rotation )possibly you know that, but if not, it could save you some time. Most fan motors or fan duty motors have leads out the side. To reverse and only on motors designed to be reversed. Take the through bolts out, make alignment marks on each end bell & stator using a straight edge or similar ( the through bolts pass through the stator in a particular spot) -switching ends, so the rotor shaft comes out the opposite side, measure the distance from the edge of the stator to the edge of the motor laminations. They should be identical, drive and opposite drive, if so, it is reversible .
We always enjoy your videos and learn a lot. Would you please put closed caption on them? some of us are hard of hearing and you have a soft voice. thank you!!!!
Well done again Curtis 👍 Au
Thanks 👍
My 9 year old Ruud had to be replaced 3 months ago,was leaking freon and condensor coil needed replaced, my unit was already obsolete even though it had a 10 year warranty on parts, my HVAC man couldn't get the part, how sad.
Nice work as usual Curtis.
Thanks again!
Curtis we always enjoy your videos!
Glad you like them
Be careful in those attics this time of year, and drink plenty of water. I own a hvac co in north east Georgia I know are attics are hot up here I’d hate to think how hot they are in your neck of the woods. Great video keep up the good work
Great job Curtis 👍✌️
Thanks 👍
Please caption all your videos with the background noise they can be hard to hear😊 love your channel and videos
Good job and very professional
Great job,Curtis!
Thanks!
Nice it was something you could fix, Nice Job
Dont normally see a rheem spring a leak that early in the life of the equipment
As always Nice one again
Love your videos!!!
Glad you like them!
Great work!
Hey Curtis,
Don't you just love those adjustable nozzles on sprayers that almost always fall off?
I was wondering why the electronic detector didn't signal... also .. I found out Windex works better than those bottles of " big blue"... enjoy your channel!
It's hot up in there you're sweating like hell
That was a slick resolution to the oil problem. This is the first time I have seen you swap out a freon tank during a recharge. Are the tanks labeled with their tare weight? How do you compensate for the differing tank weights or is the difference irrelevant to the freon refill charge weight?
As I was watching I said to my self "I would do all 3 of them to be safe" then you said the same thing. Awesome!! 😅 Good work!
Thanks
Why did you deviate from your normal trouble shooting procedure?
Usually you start outside at the condenser...
Air handler was already torn apart
Are you able to do a video on how to charge r-22 with piston vs txv? I feel like it’s different than 410a and I want to do it right
What bag are you using for your oxygen and settling tank? I’m just starting out and your videos are really helpful. Thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge.
👍👍👍
I’m also interested in your torch bag, can you tell me about it please.
Why do we see so many filter-driers outside in the weather instead of inside just ahead of the txv?
Where do you live? I live in Las Vegas but have also done Hvac in phoenix Az. We put the filter drier outside at the condenser, so that in the future you don't have to go braze in the 150 degree attic when you have to make a repair exposing to atmosphere. Simple as that
@@kiuyt856 That makes sense if the air handler is in the attic or crawlspace. I HATE attics.
80s hair bands!!!
What are those yellow handle pliers you use to hold hard lines?
How do you like the Accutrak leak detector????
You must've recovered the refrigerant before flowing Nitrogen and brazing on that condenser.
Am I correct?
Wasn’t any left
@@HVACGUY Oh! 😆
You have to change the inline filter because moisture got in the system ?
Everytime you open a system you HAVE to change the filter/drier!
i, it's okay if you want a barbecue while you work. That's Fine I just didn't See No frank fritters Next time we're going to have some lunch bro
Can you claim warranty on non part repair? Just curious.
Nope
I really disliked the music coming from your truck. Otherwise, I usually enjoy your videos.
I just did repair on a 7 year old system that I installed 7 years ago. Customer (a doctor) blaming me for crapy equipment the government is forcing the manufacturers to produce nowadays. His pregnant wife in the 9th month with a big-o-belly hovering over my head on the 95F heat and complaining in the same time next to me outside is cooler than in the house. My head is shaking badly wanting to curse around like a black dude. If she wasn't pregnant I would agree she was hitting on me. But come on, her belly is almost touching my butt bending over that condenser trying to fix the leak. I'm tired. I think I have to go the commercial refrigeration. Drink your beer at 4PM every day at home and forget about all those nonsense! Done deal!
How much do you charge for this repair?
Rather not say
Minimum of 370.00 for me.
You must be a small person. I could never fit inside a condenser like you do.
6 foot 1
@@HVACGUY I don't know how you do it.
Curtis is tall, lean and flexible. It doesn’t hurt that some Rheem condensers are almost 3 feet deep and wide.
I don't think condensating is a word. Condensing maybe?
Condensating, the process of undergoing condensation.
@@waynewallace2061it sounded too much like conversating which is a serious cringe.
What was the blue electronic hand tool used to locate the leak? Accu?
Accutrak ultrasonic leak detector
