Also many Chinese went to Germany in the early 1920 for standard training due to the " Sino-German co-operation " agreement. It ended when Germany and Japan became Allies in 1941. All the Chinese German soldiers fought for Germany when the war broke out in 1939 all the way to the end .
There are more Latvian versions, including a female cover by one of Latvia's most popular bands. It's a perfectly normal song here, for example, it was recently performed alongside "Courland's Last Legionnaires" before the prime minister's speech at a large public event within earshot of the German embassy :D

What might be the most interesting of all however is how young men from all over the world joined the ranks of the Waffen-SS to fight the Red Army, even people from neutral countries such as from Sweden, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal and even Iceland.

It just lacks this German "Hardness". Would be interesting to track where exactly this recording comes from, it had to be digitalised at some point
