- I left potatoes, corn, and carrots in the forest at my Homestead. I hoped for wild boars, but got some unexpected visitors instead!

What a great treat for beautiful animals 👍
You are so kind!
Very interesting video. I've heard of dear going into people's gardens and eating tomatoes , but not potatoes. Love the eye shine from the fox ...Creepy but Awesome
Thanks for watching!
@FayDougall,
"...dear..." ☆
In the USA, the wild boar would have eaten the entire pile of food in 1 sitting.
Mine made a NY resolution not to dive into random food 😁
What kind of deer are those?
Red deer
@@giedragoeswild I've never seen red deer outside of game preserves in the US. Great video!
It's amazing to see such a variety of animals enjoying the freebies.🌽🥔😋
Thanks so much!
@@giedragoeswild Cheers!👍🙂
Дякую Вам за відео. Цікаво спостерігати за тваринами😍
Thank you!
That’s Crazy The Pig Wouldn’t Eat Any of It.
It's because of the corn that they eat at that pile. They didn't touch a potato except when they stomped em.
They eat sugar beets & turnips from the root crop bunch, but no taters.
Looks like you didn't watch the video. They munched all the potatoes.
@@giedragoeswild Looks like you think we believe anything we see by people like you.
I've never seen deer with stubby tails. What kind are they?
Red deer
Southern York, Pa. here. It doesn't work here. Tried the bale of hay. They are scared to death of it and vacated for over a week. They're slowly coming back after I removed it. Carrots, lettuce, celery, potatoes, turnips fresh stringbeans all Don't work here. Feed corn is the only thing they come to.
Thats a dope observation! Maybe its a very rich forest with plenty of food there?
@@giedragoeswild I've dedicated about half of my property to wildlife. There are acres that I haven't stepped on in years. I keep a tractor trail cut through it tho for access. plenty of oak, cherry, sycamore, pine. berries, honeysuckle, briars and brambles. Took over 25 years to get it right. No hunting allowed in that section. I always put something back when things get barren. Can't just keep taking
@lttruck2973 That was so well said about taking! Respect! Your property sounds like a paradise garden for wildlife, you made it rich in high-quality natural food! I have just moved to the homestead-a lot of plans and work await me! No hunting is allowed here, either.
Cattle cubes
Yeah, I like potatoes 🥔 too🦊🐗🦌❤️‼️
Very interesting. I’ve put out apples, pears and pumpkins but never tried potato’s. I’ve also used just about every kind of sacked feed you can by such as dog food. My hunting partner worked where they sole all sorts of sacked feeds and bought all their damaged sacks no matter what. Goat feed, horse feed, etc. something out there will eat it…..
You are way more experienced than I am! :)
Just keep.trying.different stuff. It's very interesting. We have deer come to our back yard almost every day and we put out corn for them
Corn is like cake to them 😁
I discovered this truth while living in a Key deer refuge in the Florida keys. My grandson was entertaining himself with his homemade “potatoes gun” by shooting potatoes across the canal to the next street . The smashed potatoes soon attracted a crowd of deer who enjoyed a feast..
Interesting story! That was actually a great surprise to me, I left potatoes for wild boars :)
My stepdad told me of a buck that would dig up potatoes in the garden when he was in highschool
I bet that was quite a view! 😁
Very interesting and great video ! Thanks for nice sharing my friend 😊
Thank you! Much Appreciated!
Seems to me they only want the corn after the corn is gone do they eat the potatoes
No, they were happy with potatoes too. The pack leader has actually started with potato.
I would have thought they'd go for the carrots first.
I'll stay with corn.
They kept coming back till it was gone.
Have you tested them with sweet potatoes? 😊
Sorry for my late reply! I left a pile of sweet potatoes in autumn, right after the harvest (had lots of tiny and thin ones), but only badgers paid attention. Maybe that was too early in the season, plenty of regular food around.
Why use a lock?
For problematic people and critters 😁 Some of them tends to easily open the camera and mess with batteries and SD cards.
👍👍
What kind of deer are those they don't look like whitetails
Red deer, much bigger.
Funny how the deer and fox look at the camera.
They all know :)
Mến chào bạn, bạn chia sẻ VIDEO thật tuyệt vời ( mình đ k ủng hộ Bạn nè like đầy đủ) rất vui được đồng hành cùng bạn 👍
Thank you
😍
Funny how nobody wanted to be the 1st.
Then, that badger broke the seal on a couple potatoes and might have gotten rid of lingering human smells by walking all over the pile. Just a thought bc, wow, gone in no time after Badger the Brave.
Badgers are very bold, especially when food is served, and don't pay attention to human scent. This one simply tried to bite a few potatoes, didn't like the taste and never returned.
I wonder how they would feel about sweet potatoes?
Badgers in my area love it (unlike the regular potatoes), but not sure about deer. However, animals tend to like sweet veggies (like sugar beets etc) - you should try and see!
Potatoes become watery after they freeze.
Indeed! But we have a warm winter here this year.
I’ll be danged, I’ve never seen ANYTHING eat potatoes(sweet potatoes yes) when put out in the wild. Wouldn’t believe it unless I seen it. Onions and potatoes are never touched!
Onions would be next level 😅 Wild boars love potatoes, but I was surprised that deer took it. Maybe because this is a scarce conifer forest, no much tender greenery to munch. After I made this video I left only potatoes there and again, it disappeared overnight.
Tater deer hogs 😂
Those aren't white tail deer!
You are correct! Those are red deer, much bigger.
Fascinating! Wow, you've got some picky visitors! The deer are smart. They know that one medium-sized potato contains 110 calories, fat 0%, cholesterol 0%, fiber 7%, vitamin C 30%, Potassium 15%, vitamin B6 10%. Once they stop fighting over territory (well almost), they all dug in. Good for them! You also have balmy weather. Can I ask where your general location is? In my part of Eastern Canada, we are digging our way out of the snow. It's a balmy -4C and getting colder. Thanks for sharing Giedra. 🦌🥔
I am in Lithuania, North Europe. We are having a very warm winter this year, barely had any snow. There is still February ahead, let's hope for some pretty landscapes!
Thanks for your comment, it actually made me laugh, so funny and accurate!
Don't feed deer potatoes then thay want to dig mind up bad😢
Mule deer??
Red Deer
@giedragoeswild thankyou.
Fajny film i wspaniałe zwierzęta 😊👍 Pozdrawiam 🙂
Dzekuje bardzo!
Who stole the potato’s ?
They're serious about those potatoes! They don't want to share. Calm down, there's enough for all.
We use cracked corn, also. Most birds ignore it; however, the grackles LOVE the corn.
Yes, birds don`t like corn also here. I left lard and sunflower seeds for them, we have tones of tits and nuthatchers here. Can`t wait to check if they liked it!
