The spray on the hose is for mainly to prevent gas going to the body who is getting on to a strecher

About the fire hydrant: In Drenthe (A province in the Netherlands) they've closed most of the hydrants and make special water-tenders (Which have their own hydrants) drive back and forth to supply water. Has pros and cons though.

The spray or we in the fire service calls it a fog nozzle so say if the fire is threatening ur life u flip that on and it creates a shield between u and the fire which then it cool u down and get the fire down to where u can knock it out with the straight stream
