@@RichardFerstandig It refers to the sound. In the old world warblers, for the most part are secretive and “warble” from thick brush and are hard to see

Males are generally darker colored overall than the females

I know why they are called mockingbirds but why are they called northern mockingbirds?

@@RichardFerstandig their southern counter parts are the Tropical Mockingbird and Bahama Mockingbird so ours are Northern compared to them.
