Exactly, when your partner cheats on you, he/she is not only breaking the sacred bond of trust, but is compromising a holy relationship of a husband and a wife. Cheating is a choice, it is a sin, a cardinal sin.
Never ever forgive cheaters, whether man or woman.

@@RealKellie I get the gist of your post but I wouldn't use the word hate to describe the emotion felt in this situation. As he said in the video, it's a loss of respect which plays out as indifference to the cheater. There's pain of course and definite moments of anger. But all that eventually passes. What endures the most (for me) is indifference because you can never look at the other person the same way ever again.

I have known since my twenties what I have available to me sexually. I've never cheated, nor do I want to.
I want sex, sure. But honestly my self esteem would suffer more if I cheated than from anything else. I can't imagine feeling good about myself with anyone who would be with me when I'm a married guy with kids.

I know this video is 14 years old, but I did find it interesting. The male actor in this drama and the subject matter reminded me of a story going back almost 20 years. In this case, the confrontation happened in the lobby of a hotel near downtown Atlanta. The husband in this case was in his mid-40s at the time and a classmate of mine during our time attending Georgia Tech. I was sitting across from him as we both were drinking coffee. I followed his then-wife as she and her AP entered the elevator and called my friend. We spent those hours talking about old times and his early years married to her. Talked about their two daughters then in College. One was at Duke University to become a Medical Doctor and the other daughter was attending Georgia Tech. Both of us were positioned so we could see the elevators. It was about 9PM when they came down. She was smiling and all happy until she got about 3 or 4 feet from the elevator. My friend did not say a word to her. He just took off his ring and tossed it to her. Both of us walked out and walked to my car. Thankfully she was in such a state of shock she froze for long enough for us to get out. I never found out who the AP was. Both daughters still love their mother but are not as close to her as they are to the father.

True! Though in this scene...it really was not her intention to 'cheat'.
She and the boss were both going through very hard, painful times, and found friendship and support with each other. One night, he had taken her to dinner to say thank you for all of help and he had gotten her a neckless; they let their feeling get caught up and both let things go too far. She was immediately ashamed, and broke off all communication.
She tried even harder to reach out to Jamie, and re kindle their relationship (he had shut her out emotionally because of something that he was hiding); but it was too late.
It is something that she to this day classifies as her single biggest mistake in life.

Sorry. I’m a firm believer that it isn’t what you say that defines you. It’s what you do. Besides, I really can’t care that she was having a bad time. She should’ve remembered her vows. That’s why they take them. If she wanted to be led around by her emotions and make choices like that, she didn’t need to be in a marriage in the first place. And as far as regretting, it wasn’t like she was tricked into bed by someone. Cheating is not a mistake. It’s a choice. And I say that as someone who has never cheated. And never will.

@@jonw.3886 Honestly, someone leaving a cheater should not care what anyone thinks or says. People outside the relationship always has something to say either way and you should never let them dictate your life. I find that most weddings are people putting on a show with no intentions to actually honor their vows. Anytime some cheats and able to stay, the relationship deteriorates inevitable at some point. People who say “Their was infidelity and we’re now happy” don’t move me in the slightest. It’s usually because the cheater knows you’ll tolerate disrespect so they’ll do a better job hiding the cheating. Either way, hopefully your nieces children learn a thing or two about being faithful and not tolerating cheating.l

The only way to get it back is to break it off and rebuild yourself better; I should have done it years prior. Consulation prize three years later I am on top of the world and my ex's life has become a dumpster fire. Sometimes what goes around does come around.

I know what it’s like to be cheated on. It’s horrible. I’ve been struggling with it for almost 2 years. But I decided to move on to find the special someone that won’t do that to me. I won’t lie and say they love you and they don’t. But now I learn from that mistake to marry someone that wasn’t very faithful to you. I came to realize. That he can’t just sit in the past and think about how your ex cheated on you. Eventually, it’s gonna happen to them because cheaters will find love and then their new spouse will cheat on them..

I have experienced this from both sides. When I was younger, my first serious long-term relationship with the girl I thought I was going to marry ended when I unexpectedly dropped in at her home in the middle of the afternoon and caught her in bed with another man. It was eerily similar to the opening scene in the 2014 movie "This is Where I Leave You", where Jason Bateman comes home early and walks in on his boss (Dax Shepard) laying an absolute pounding down on his wife (Abigail Spenser). Outside of having blue eyes instead of brown, the girl even looked like Spenser. Jason Bateman's character even asked the exact same question I asked. Even his and her reactions afterwards, where he retreats to another room and she comes rushing in a few seconds later, tying her robe around her and stopping about ten feet away, were identical to how we reacted. Even decades later, watching that seen completely knocked me off center, as if I was reliving it all over again. At the time, it hurt like hell. But, once over the initial shock, I eventually left it behind me and things got better.
Years later, I was in even a longer term relationship (engaged, but not married) with a girl who began doing everything in her power to isolate me from friends and family alike. To the point it was becoming toxic. Instead of leaving first, which is what I should have done, I instead found comfort in the arms of a coworker. It was only a few months before I left her but, even if it wasn't technically adultery, cheating on her were some of the worst months of my life. I vowed to never do that again, ever. Not just to another woman, but to myself. But unlike being cheated on, being the cheater is a stain you carry with you forever. It may fade over time, but the guilt and pain of what you did is always there, just beneath the surface. So, if you have any conscience whatsoever, it is emotionally far easier to be cheated on than to be the adulterer/adulteress yourself. I realize that brings small comfort to those who have been cheated on; but I have never the less found it to be true. Not just in my case but in quite a few others I have met throughout the years who have unfortunately made the same mistake.
I have also known a few guys who were able to forgive their wives after catching them in affairs. In just about every case, the girl showed honest remorse and guilt. Nearly overwhelming guilt, to the point they became incredibly re-devoted to their husbands. It took a LOT of work on the girls part, working their butts off, to slowly rebuild their love to the point it eventually allowed forgiveness. But trust was far harder to re-earn. In a couple of cases, even years later, I can tell the guys still don't one-hundred percent trust their wives; but they managed to earn enough back to make it work. They had to. Love doesn't last long without at least some trust. I have seen a lot of guys in the same situation, where the girl forgives them, they spend a few years rebuilding that trust, and then they screw it all up again, at which point the girl permanently dumps the loser. I've also seen the wife do that to one or two guy friends (I have a very large circle of friends) but more often, at least from what I have seen, if a guy gives a girl a second chance, she is usually all-in on him from that point on. She doesn't allow herself to be put into a situation that even gives the appearance of that being a possibility again. I realize everyone has different life experiences, but these have been mine.

My unfaithful ex-wife had been rebellious, defensive, and uncooperative since her adultery. I wanted us to make it but she simply wasn't willing to do any work. As a guy, I found it next to impossible to trust her or feel close to her again, although I wanted to try. Maybe she has overwhelming guilt, but you would never know it. By all accounts she has seemed to be doing just fine and is to this day.

@@RealKellie And I appreciated the power of the acting from both of you in this scene. It's crushing to think about how many of these conversations happen every night, In living rooms, at kitchen tables, etc. If you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend watching the movie Unfaithful (2002) with Diane Lane and Richard Gere. How Diane Lane didn't win the Academy Award that year is beyond me. She smashed every other award possible for that role that year. The emotional roller-coaster she goes through as an adulterer is impressive to see. There is some discontinuity at the end of the movie as the director and Richard Gere did not agree with the studio and some producers on how the movie should have ended, and it is very noticeable in the auction scene. The auction scene, and the escape fantasy scene that follows has been put up by another viewer in post on UA-cam. I explain what missing scene they cut out and how that causes the shift to what happened afterwards. I go on to explain the real struggle that they face and what they might potentially go through to find a way to stay together as a couple. I see that this is an audition scene for a TV show - there must have been some kind of magic that day on the set because the actors delivered an amazing performance. Stephen very believable due to his reserved manner or "under-acting". Once the hammer falls he still keeps it bottled up. Kellie's appearance also adds to the reality - her mussed hair (she just put their child down), lack of make up, sweatshirt. She acts tired like most moms of small kids do at that time of the evening. But you can tell that with some attention she could look pretty. All that makes the betrayal all the more believable and devastating. Super challenging part for Kellie - she has to run through a handful of very strong emotions lastly the realization of hurting her husband and losing her family. bravo to the director and film editor. quite a gem

It really is a funny surprise, and I am absolutely shocked at how many men have something very powerful to say about their personal experience about being cheated on. I want to do some 'follow up' content to this video, because I think men could really use some support and insight from a woman who is not a USER or GOLDDIGGER, and why the woman in this scene cheated, and the true backstory of this particular story.

They don’t really care they cheat on you cause they don’t respect you. They have an old saying “what you don’t know won’t hurt you “and they think you’ll never find out. and they have another saying” it’s just as easy to fall in love with a rich man as it is a poor man“ . So get one good punch in because you’ll regret it if you don’t and then leave and take everything with you because you can bet she will.

It should be possible for adults to neither act in the first flush of emotion nor make irreversible decisions. And as an adult, you may also have learned that humans are people who disappoint each other. Inevitably. This does not mean that cheating is a small thing and can always be forgiven and thus remain without consequences. But you could first check whether you are really the one who has been crushed by fate, or whether more mature behavior is possible. In any case, the man reacts like a child who has had his favorite toy taken away. For adults, this is a lecture on the relation between wishes and consequences, not a lecture on morals.

    • @RealKellie

That is a really well thought out and emotionally intelligent response! It is interesting to see all of the comment by men here who have experienced varying degrees of betrayal... and yes many respond in a very child-like, victim way. There are so many events and aspects that lead up to such a drastic result... many layers to unwind and everyone must look at their own part and take responsibility.
