I'm actually a female Druid with OBOD and that statement is not true. The ancient Druids had equally male and female Druids and that is proven through the literary accounts of the Romans. In fact, there are several female Druids accounted for in their writings and it was not versed as a strange thing. There is an entire story about a female Druid found on the road by passerbyer where she states that Yes, she's a Druid and a Seer and was attending the Druid School in that area.

As a Woman? The novels of Evangeline Walton have a more exalted view of Druids, in her retelling of the Mabinogi. Much like the Platonics, or even Eastern at points.
