100% agree and thankfully your chanel is not gear centric, generally I go out with one lens one body only unless I'm doing g a bigger road trip , even then it's usually the one camera and lens that gets used all of the time . I also think that limitations force you to be more creative
At about 3:20 Cole mentions making his images simpler and briefly mentions some of the ways he uses to make his images simpler. Simpler images is something that I have started thinking about, including getting into a discussion in my camera club and Alister Benn's Expressive Photography Forum about what minimalist photography is. Anyway, might I suggest an extended discussion on a future show about simple or simpler images? Thanks.
@@thecoleandjohnshow7236 And another thought for a future topic -- photographic seeing, which is different from vision, which is a broader, overarching concept, whereas by phtographic seeing I mean -- or think I mean -- the ability to see something and in the moment knowing or thinking it would make an 'interesting' photograph.

I like gear and at one point it did hinder my work. The only gear I chase is the camera body but that’s more of a financial reason (to an extent). I shoot with a Z9 and it is an expensive piece of kit. Whenever the Z9ii comes out in a few years I’ll sell my current one while it has value and purchase the new one. No, it won’t make me better, it MIGHT give me more options, but it will smell nice and look cool. If I see a piece of gear that I know will help me achieve the kind of photos I want then I’ll make the purchase. That happens far less lately. The industry runs on FOMO (fear of missing out) and it keeps the profit machine churning. That’s why so many UA-camrs out there find “success” doing only gear videos. So, photographers are sold the idea if they just had this one more piece of gear they could finally make it! Or the version 2 of this lens…. Think of the sharpness! I’m just glad this channel isn’t one of those. You could get more likes though if you talked about gear or bashed my choice of brands… nothing like a gear war to really get the comments flowing. Lastly, if you don’t shoot Nikon then you aren’t real photographers. 😊

I’ve been considering scaling down to one lens. It would mean there are shots I could no longer get, but they are a small subset of what I do.
