My mum and dad took me here in 72/73 when I was a baby. A plane crashed on the site and 4 people were killed in the aircraft-they have never forgotten that day.
I was there for Christmas 1989. Whatever it was that made my family choose Blackpool for a Christmas break must have worked as we went again for Christmas 1990. All I remember about it, it was the first indoor soft play area I'd ever been in so me and my little brother would sit in the ball pit all day trying to keep warm as it was sooooo windy and cold outside. Been to several parks throughout my childhood. Great memories of Pontins during the 1980's but they've clearly had their day. I'm surprised any of them are still around.
I stayed there in 1981 aged 14, and what a dump. It felt like a prison camp..We had no lock on the chalet door either and were terrified at night, as anyone could walk in.
I stayed here about a year before it was pulled down. What a shithole is was our cabin was filthy & I found dirty underwear under one of the beds. Had to clean cabin myself as no cleaning staff bothered even after I complained to management. Glad it got pulled down.
I was here in 92, 96, 97, 2003 and 2004. Probably was better in the 90’s being a kid. I remember the crocodile club with the massive inflatable crocodile
I had so many childhood memories growing up there, I remember I was coming back from swimming and I walked into the wrong chalet haha funny times, the looked at me like I was a right freak, and aww I had my first boyfriend there😂 holiday memories so sad it's gone, I just wish the would re build it to make a better pontins 😅
It's always sad to see a place which once had so much happiness! now turned to rubble. What if any are the plans for this area now! will Pontins be re-born, or will it remain just open land for now!! shame about Blackpool airport closing too! things are not going very well for the area at the moment!!
Had a week in 1964 when I was a teenager. Double Diamond on draught at the bar I can vaguely remember. Perhaps that's why I put my hand up to be a judge in a knobbly knees contest! Winner was mutton dressed as lamb. Of course I knew that. But they blamed me anyway.
Fond memories, summer nights leaving the kids alone unattended for 15 hours whilst off drinking in the local a pub The Turd & Toilet just around the corner.
Went there as a kid in 68 or 69. The Blackpool football team were training there pre season, think they were in division 1 at the time. Remember a player called Tony Green, good player and quite famous. Me arl feller played against them in a friendly in a team made up of various dads on holiday and told me they won. Like that game would happen now with elitist berks that infest modern football.
hated seeing this ! still angry that they destroyed Pontin s Blackpool ! such a great park but greed gets in the way all the time shame on them big business are money mad morons !
Great memories I had here I went every year to it since I was little made great friends with Bluecoat's johnny Ben aka baby Ben spike and Ian the goat and many more still talk to canny few now I was their when uncle Harold was their one year their was 27 other us 10 adults and 17 kids that was the year all us kids went free and we had a full row of chalets bottom row to our self's and the blue coats who meet new guests off the bus was like wow as us kids ran to captain croc haha the queen Vic was the Orange room but it was green haha I still go to Blackpool but Marton mere now and one year in my teens me and my bro and cousins stole safari Sam's hat haha and we didn't get wrong of the staff it was fun haha and Sam was like get them kids so we ran around a bit outside inside why bingo was on haha it was great that Sam played along haha.
+•Ally Brooke• money...as usual, it is alot more valuable as a new build housing site, especially been so close to the airport...pity, spent many a great times performing there
