Always when I hear Magne's (solo) songs, it makes clear what big part of him is in a-ha, creates this unique a-ha-sound. And I can unterstand, that he feels sometimes sad, that a lot of people don't notice his talent und his important part in the a-ha construct.
Yes, i totally agree! The magic and nostalgic touch in A- ha's songs... It is his signature and his important contribution for sure!!! 😊🎶
I agree with you. Mags and Paul are the heart of A-ha, with their sensitiveness and creativity as composers while Morten's amazing range in using his unique voice gives the right ... heartbeat. They are not underrated by people who love TRUE music.
Magne is the generous heart and soul of A-HA. Pal always tries to assert all the credit. Magne in his kindness lets him bitch without objection but Magne's lyrics express the deepest meanings and an ethereal human experience. He is beautiful inside and out
@@gentleheartful Oh, it's so true. Never forget that Mags has paid too much because of his kindness. He's been much more sensitive than Paul in their long relationship and I think he has felt tired and disappointed. What a pity! Anyone would like a friend like him.

Subliiime ... Magne was a big part of a-ha by creating those song ... he is the most underrated song-writer... This song with Morten and Pal +Orchestra will be a huge among of talent... I couldn't way so long !!!
What to say? Mags is the very heart of A-ha but not the voice. This is another song for Morten's voice. Mags can really create the right atmosphere because he's like his songs, so sensitive and true. Some of his songs need Morten's voice to enter people's hearts and spread all over the musical part of our minds.

I don’t know, I like Mag’s voice here. It could be cool if Morten gets to sing in in lower keys like this. They hardly ever seem to do that. I love his voice in lower tone as well (just as amazing. )
Would be nice to give him a break from the falsetto stuff.

@@aureliacarmona52 Aw man, that’s awesome! Which night did you go? I surprised my aunt with front row tickets for the April 8th night. It was so cool and, honestly, made me more of a fan of theirs. The best moment I’ve got is making eye contact with Paul twice (but meeting them is much cooler)!

The A-Ha are on tour and I've already seen them on youtube. I could listen to this breathless song sung by Morten. Magic moment when Magne's and Morten's voices became one, different but one.

Mags wrote the riff to Take On Me. What an epitaph that will be.
Fantastic. Morten will sing it and it will be a-ha, but this version, from the writer, I think sounds like a man able to finally go it alone. Mags' voice is really wonderful in the demos we're hearing and he really brings the soul out in his song writing. He's the heart and melancholy in the band, still the extrovert of the three, but more thoughtful with the passing of time. Respectful of the audience he has, and of the planet he's living on.
I'm excited to hear how his songs and inspirations differ from Paul's, and how cohesive it will sound as an album/concept.

I love this! Great job writing and singing this song, Magne. It would be so cool if he got to sing it on the album. That or if Morten got to sing it in a lower tone, like this. I wish Morten got to sing lower tones more often. I love his voice that way as well. It could also give poor Morten a break a bit. That is a lot to expect the poor guy to always sing in a higher voice . It’s natural and normal for a voice to change as we get older. I imagine it gets to be a strain after a while.
This is so true! The powers that be would have a certain expectation of you. Then , as a musician, you are cast into what their ideal of you happens to be.
That's why I love it when bands break up, actually! That's when things, talent wise, can start to get real. The ones that rise above, thrive, and evolve into there own- there very own- usually never saw it coming. It was because they were stretched to come into their own - and settle into places unknown and on the way can be uncomfortable and on the other spectrum- surprising and anew!
I love it when a musician just goes there own way.... That's where your gonna find out what they are made of eventually. I think of the Beatles, Neil Young, and Joni Mitchell, to name a very few. There voices and styles changed. And they also expanded there veiws by stepping out of the box.
Despite when they go solo their music is actually boring IMO
Sigh…yes, I have listened to a bit of Morten’s stuff. Not much of Magne and Pål’s. I can attest that with Morten, it does sound better when he is with A-Ha. I guess it’s their writing and musical talent? It is a shame for they have said quite a few times they hate working together, but know they do good stuff together. Morten’s voice just isn’t the same, so if they stay together, they could do stuff more suited for his voice now? I don’t know. Or just retire and do other things outside of music that makes them happy? 🤷🏻♀️
Ngl there’s only a few songs from morten that I can listen to everyday. Heavens not for saints being my top fav, still waiting for him to put it on Spotify 🥴

@@shelld1261 i agree, Morten should use his lower range more often, his high notes don't sound as natural as they did and Magne's more humble singing make songs more believable and true

Magne's songs on this new album are FAR BETTER than Paul's. Magne's songs are more A-HA sounding but Pauls are SAVOY sounding.
Why cant Magne sing on this track with A-Ha. He has a beautiful woice.
AMEN AMEN!!! You’re not the only one feeling this way. His voice seems so sweet and genuine with these songs. It feels like it’s almost against the law for anyone but Morten to sing the lead vocals. Like it’s just against the law for Morten to sing in any lower keys. Even when his voice has changed and it’s straining. I guess they are trying to stick to their “Legacy” for the “fans” who can’t handle change. I would admire them more if they stepped outside of that legacy a bit and evolved. Not worrying what all the fans will think. The real fans appreciate when you evolve. Besides man, they are in their 60’s and this is, supposedly, their “last” album. Live it up, guys! Just say screw it and do what makes you happy. Not what you think others have molded you into. IMHO

Well...this is better than the Morten Harket version.
My opinion matches yours. There seems to be a bit of an interesting divide happening here. There are people who swear by Morten’s version and some of us who love Magne’s Demo. I feel Magne’s voice is sweet, genuine, and vulnerable. Not that I don’t love Morten’s voice generally. It just feels like Magne sings from the heart here. I love the music better too. I hope they put the demos on the album. Everyone would win that way. IMHO 😉

@@JesperHellvik He could be tired. 40 years is a long time. Also, the man’s voice has changed with age. A normal thing. It feels like everyone (including a-ha) has him stuck with trying to sing in the falsettos of his youth, even with the new songs. I wish they would do songs in lower keys and make them for his new voice more. Maybe that’s another reason they don’t feel like they are from the heart? In those latest concert videos, he does look like he’s being kind of apologetic a lot when he can’t do the same notes he used to. I bet that weighs on him. Just my opinion though. I do agree that it does feel like his passion is gone.
@@JesperHellvik Have you heard "The Summers of Our Youth"? I just got the Analog CD and just listened to that song for the first time. Magne was doing the lead and wow wow wow...he sounds similar to Chris Martin! I love it! These little amazing snippets keep popping up and I keep learning more and more about them. It is a shame he didn't sing more for a-ha. I am going to have to check out his single work for sure.

Nope. That’s okay, he doesn’t have to be. I love Magne’s voice here and so do a lot of people. I love it for it’s sweet, genuine, and from the heart. If you prefer Morten’s voice to this, you are more than welcome to listen to that. The rest of us will enjoy this one. ✌🏽
