I’ve been off social media and primarily use UA-cam to keep up with current events and have to say there is absolutely nothing missing in my life not being on social media, so much useless information was taking up my thoughts and time, life is so much better in person.

YT is social media. It is different, and you can use it as media consuming instrument only, but apparantly you use it as social media as you comment. A little annonymous, that username absolutely reveils nothing, but you use it for conversation.

You are here. Commenting. Having an account. Still on it! The beauty of UA-cam is that it is both social and broadcasting. If you don't feel like using it as SM, you can only watch content. But you can use it as social media if you like, and apparantly you do use it as SM.
It will eventually. People are beginning to realize the adverse effect it has on on one's mental health.
How healthy is the corporate media spewing propaganda for people? We are in the beginning of a civil war and the corporate media keep lying. The 6 RW corporations who bought up the media in the early 2000's didn't do so to inform Americans, they are successful tipping the scale to keep Republicans in office to avoid taxes and regulations. The young lady seemed honest but the 1st girl lies all the time.
Yeah, it's actually worse than drugs! The constant scrolling into nonsense and the ridiculous amounts of wasted time people spending posting their stupid lives on it! I hope it all dies!

I deleted and quit all my social media accounts back in 2013. It wasn't too bad but it was the best decision ever.

Quit about 3 years ago and have no regrets as well as no desire to go back.
You use YT as social media. I do as well. It is better than the rest because you can watch the content without profile and account, but still, it is mostly social media, with some music videos and mainstream media outings mixed in.
Social media has become like TV networks that push ads.
Except with lower standrards, thanks to UA-cam Kids.

that’s been a thing for years. it’s just that facebook’s over, twitter’s dying and there are so many sub-par replacements that half your friends aren’t going to join with you.
What we need is more face to face human contact with each other and limit the use of electronic devices! I use my smartphone like a Swiss army knife! GPS, Music, Text/Call that's about it.

I don’t use it at all practically just like insta reels,but I’m fine and I’m 19. I never had the need to share my moments with social media,but like you said the internet/phone per se is really really useful,my family’s whole vacation would have been more difficult if we didn’t have maps. I've noticed the last year it's been dying. I jumped on today abs noticed it felt like MySpace when everyone started leaving.
And with the new anti-adblock rules for UA-cam, it will be on death's door soon enough.

No it's not the ads. It's the algorithms curating a feed of negativity and manipulation, constant censorship that at times makes no sense whatsoever and last but not least the carbs in a bucket mentality it helps create among it's users.

The old lifestyle of the 90s and 2000s is more better and simple, people nowadays is sick with the social media like Facebook, Twitter, tiktok, and Instagram, it just wasting of time and ruined your life. People now are more focus on UA-cam, Netflix, Google map, Whatsapp, and Telegram, those all app is just enough.

I barely started using it in 2020 bc I was tired of hopping on to the next platform but DA wasn't cutting it for artists reaching outside the art community. Now I'm facing restrictions for tagging and commenting and supporting others... I'm about to just leave. It's getting old constantly working against a system that constantly kicks you down. I'm done with sm overall anymore. It's just not worth the effort we're all putting into it to make a each to our audience.

Probably in the west, social media is slowly dying, but in developing countries social media is absolutely alive, these countries will continue to fuel social media business for awhile, but when these users meet their peak it will have similar effect with the west.
I sure hope so I only use Facebook because i need it for my meta quest head set and i use youtube for news ,to watch trailer ,or to watch something to unwind other than that not so much .

I feel like they avoided the obvious bc of political reasons but we still use TikTok 😅.. it’s the algorithm. Instagram has a TERRIBLE algorithm and as discussed here it shows us a bunch of influencers, there is almost no chance for new creators to get seen without paying for an ad, which appears somewhat desperate and we are tired of the constant flow of sponsored content- on top of that, they seemingly have NO IDEA what users want to see on their feed, it appears completely random, has nothing to do with your interests, you never actually see your friends or the people you follow and they make it a secret mission to find out who follows you back.
TikTok is literally the opposite- plus it’s low pressure. Instagram is stressful AF. Employers view it, everything is supposed to be all aesthetic and curated. You can literally roll out of bed, start singing a song about a dream you had and engage with a millions of people, even if you have like 10 follower… Instagram could never. 💅🏾🤷🏾♀️

You do know the corporate media is for banning TikTok in the United States. 6 RW corporations bought up almost all news networks in the early 2000's to keep Republicans in office to avoid taxes and regulations. Millennials and Gen Z don't watch propaganda from the corporate media and they are now the best informed and biggest voting block in America. I’ve had fb and ig for over 10 years. Nobody EVER liked my pictures no one ever liked me from day 1. All these years I felt like a loser and unattractive to women when all I had to do was put the screen down and socialize at work and when I’m out shopping or eating😊 people love me in person!
