@@trytellingthetruth.2068 That is not the point, it could be if it does not meet the EU standards taht we use to trade with the EU, and I am fairly certain Moroccan pesticide laws are not as stringent as EU ones, and taht goes for lower USA food standards as well. Tell me differently?

Tomatoes were being grown in the uk until Ukraine was invaded, sanctions were applied and the gas price shot up.

Err, nope. Vat is à tax on goods being sold in order to up the british total raised revenues. You take the vat off the table and britain will go bankrupt for lacking of revenue. Only a small percentage of vat was actually used to pay the eu parliament.

Morocco has agreements with the EU, and they have to sell to the EU first. 450 million market is far greater than 70 million
I think its more likely thay we get our morroccan tomatoes from the eu. Its a time sensitive product and as such it will arrive in spain and drive here quicker than coming direct via boat. Also its probably more expensive to import directly and ship here sue to loss of scale.
You do realise they will still arrive to the UK from France and Spain but not the EU right? Produce can be transported through the EU there isn’t a wall produce has to be transported around
