If you pick the newer Dreamer Designs Marked with “New Version” on the website you get the new canvas material which is amazing. It’s exactly like Craftibly’s canvas. Although you may not have tried them being in the UK. Anyway for future reference stick to the new version canvases to avoid the symbol clarity issue. I don’t have an issue seeing the old dreamers designs but I do work with a lot of lights over my canvases. I just turn off the light pad to make out anything iffy. Greens are where I have a hard time with white symbols.
❤This was my first Dreamer Designs and I did have some trouble with the symbols. I don't routinely use a light pad so I didn't have quite the same symbol problems you had but I did struggle with the legend looking very different in color from the canvas and, now that I think of it, some of my struggle might also have been with the light-on-light printing. It was still worth it though; the finish was gorgeous! Now I am working on a new model from DD called A New Day -- another round -- and I'm having no problems at all. Even the drill size and quality is much better although those things were okay with Le Scala with maybe just a little gapping. I hope this helps you when considering ordering from them again. All the letters on light colors are black; I only see one white-on-light symbol -- it's not exactly a letter but an X shape and might be big enough to not cause you problems. Maybe that's hope for the future? Thanks so much for this unboxing. It really made me think about why I had to concentrate so hard while working up this image! I thought it was just me!!!❤
❤PS I had once kept up with some of your delightful Waffles but got busy and lost touch. I'm so glad I didn't miss this one. There is real value here for future decision making. Thanks again.❤
DD has upgraded their kits for recent releases. Canvases, printing, and tool kits. These look like the old style. I wonder if you'd like their improvements, I hope so. That villa is gorgeous!
Both are beautiful pictures however I hate to say it but both I believe are the older canvases still! The all new kits come up as new version in green on the website and come with a much bigger tray and new canvas, and the kits that come out part part ie new canvas but older toolkit will have new in red next to them on the site. Have had a quick look at both of these as I'm waiting on a restock due to happen this week and neither of these ones have either new or new version on them. They are gradually moving them over. That's my understanding anyway and from what I've heard on there group page. I too am waiting to try a completely new set.
You are correct, these are not from the latest revamp. You can tell from the boxes as well, and as you mentioned the toolkits. Had a bit of a nosy around their social media, Elation by Ann Marie Bone was released in April 2021 and Le Scale Tra Le Case was released in late 2020
Hi Rebecca. Not sure if you are back from Australia when recording this. Welcome back if you are. I have the exact painting from DD (the second one). I have a place for it in my kitchen. I needed something for a big wall. I'm hoping it is going to work. I have not checked the canvas but after this video, I will be checking it :)
Thank you for doing this video! I've looked at their designs a few times and considered buying, but the cost put me off because I hadn't seen any real reviews - in depth type of reviews, I mean. I really appreciate the time and effort you put into this for us.
🟪🟢❤️🟣🟩 I just got 5 of the free if you pay shipping. I looked at the Rose one as it was a gift for a friend. It looked ok but not sure. I won't get a chance to do them anytime soon. I have WIP that I am hoping to finish by 2/15. Then I'll be kitting up 2 paint gem minis to take on my trip to FL. I also have a large DAC to work on but I'm just not feeling it right now. My diamonds arrived this weekend for my cross stitch conversion and crossing fingers the canvas will be here this week.
That's a beautiful view, but it isn't one of their new ones. Dreamer Designs has been having some great sales and beautiful new arrivals, so I am hoping you will use one of their sales to pick up two absolutely new kits. The canvas is thicker and softer, the covering plastic is like vinyl, the clarity is astonishing, and the drill quality is amazing. You won't be disappointed.
I have several DD paintings that I bought last summer (2022) and they are squares and the same problem you are describing here. I've made a major error right off the start with the painting (Santorini) and have put it aside for now. I was hoping for a better review but thanks for pinpointing the problem. I'll still complete the paintings but will make sure to do others in between the DD's. Thank you!!! PS: I have been working on a HAED canvas that is printed in black and white and I really love it! I think I prefer canvases without the color and hope other manufacturers change to give the customer the option like HAED does.
Hi Rebecca. I’m nervous. I just got my first Dreamer Designs canvas - Stormy Weather - and I haven’t started it yet. I hope it will be clear and doable and fun. I believe I have become a Glue Dots fan, thanks to your video! It’s working well in my single placer, but I haven’t figured out the multi placers yet. Anyway, I had to let you know because last night when I tried it, I didn’t like it. But this morning, I loved how it felt. Thanks again and thanks for your videos - I got used to you during the Advent videos!! April ❤
Lovely images, I hope the symbols are ok when you kit these ones up. I have heard that the rounds are better than their squares. I have 3 in my stash and I have a couple I want when they restock.
I'm currently working on the newer version. The print is so clear I find it clearer than DAC even, because not only is it now a very material, but also because it has less glitter in the Canvas). The drills are a very similar experience to the old DAC drills (8 facets) with a bunch of trash. So I'd describe the experience as very like working on an old DAC kit with really good rendering, really good ABs, better covering plastic film, almost similar drills, but a slightly softer and thinner canvas material.
I finished this piece. Working on it was very very very draining. Tbh it wasn't the quality as much as the outrageous amount of confetti. And being a color blocking and multiplacing lover, it took me 6 months to get it done. I didn't enjoy it most of the time I was working on it. But the finished result is BREATHTAKING. it made the effort so worth it in the end!
Dreamer Designs are not for me. I really don’t like it if the symbols aren’t clear, it stresses me out and I end up giving up. Thank you for explaining the problem. If other company’s can get it right, even the cheaper ones, I don’t see why Dreamer Designs still have the same problem. It will be interesting how they respond to your email.
I bought the La Scale painting a few years ago and have the old version. Can see the difference in the symbols. That is disappointing that the clarity didn’t improve. I started my first dreamers design last year and thought it was me that was having issues with reading the symbols..
At that price point it needs to be better. I bought a Dreamer Design a long time ago and had problems with the symbols. They sent me a pdf but that didn’t help. As expensive as they are they need to be better. I try not to complain but it’s not right to have to struggle so much.
I’ve had the same experience with DD symbols that are printed in white. In Butterfly Orchid Fantasy, H,, J, and K are all printed in white on orange backgrounds and are commingled in several areas on the canvas. I contacted DD about this and they advised to turn off my light pad. Then I asked if they could make a custom kit for me without using symbols printed in white. They replied politely that they were unable to do so. I don’t understand.. I haven’t had this problem with DAC or Diamond Dotz.
Rebecca, Thanks for your honest review. It's very disappointing when you have high hopes for a very nice diamond painting and end up frustrated and "fighting" with it. It's supposed to be fun and enjoyable, but... it's just not. The same thing happened to me with an Ever Moment. The symbols were so blurry I couldn't read them. They gave me a very hard time about replacing the canvas, but finally they agreed to send me a new one. Honestly, it is no better. Now I understand that it was because of the white symbols on a light color background. Very disappointing. 😥 🐸
Shame about the visibility of the icons. It will be interesting to see how they come out in rounds as I think squares work really well on large confetti canvases. Both beautiful images.
I got one last week, Patio for Two, and I too was guessing about what symbol it was “suppose” to be. I contacted them, they said don’t use with a light pad use a overhead light. They are trying to send me a digital version of the canvas, but the first try didn’t match my canvas. I am waiting on the right canvas digital version. Although, I am disappointed that is all they are going to do. My opinion, they don’t need to be selling these blurry kits. I don’t know if I will buy from them again, even with a new canvas, because I now know how their customer service is.
I am so disappointed in DD. And I have been waiting on your review before making another purchase😥 it seems it has to be the Newest version to get a readable canvas. Guess I just saved myself some money. Like you said, we diamond paint for relaxation!
Great images! Love the second one. It's frustrating when it's hard to make out symbols. I have a light pad and was using an "Ott lite" with a 15-watt LED light which didn't help much even with a magnifying glass and burned out the other day so I'm using a regular lamp with a daylight bulb in it which helps. Still using the magnifying glass too.

@@sylviakanel9766 I have a new day in my stash. It's a perfect size. I may squeeze it in later this year.

Agree this is still the older version

Hopefully it will be ok, if not the symbols are fine in daylight. Just not with a lightpad.
Lovely images, I hope the symbols are ok when you kit these ones up. I have heard that the rounds are better than their squares. I have 3 in my stash and I have a couple I want when they restock.
Yes they have really gorgeous paintings but I just recently got one and I am having the same issue but I will still finish it
Very pretty. I hope you will be able to complete them.

I am with you on the dd symbols, I am still having troubles lol

They don't have that problem anymore.

It's frustrating isn't it. I'm saving mine to only work on in the summer months when I don't need my light pad.
Beautiful paintings, I really like Ann Marie Bone paintings, I'm up to New artists paintings

I agree. By doing these in the spring summer time only I'm hoping that I'll be able to enjoy them as the symbols aren't a problem in daylight.

I have a magnifing ring light
You need to use your new word, "Crazy Confetti" 🤪
😂

The ones I am having trouble reading are: black- S, B, 6 and E. White-
I agree. I can work on them in the summer months with no light pad, but I don't like being restricted after paying that much for a kit.
💎💙
I think this is still an older kit (the second one) since it came wrapped around the styrofoam. 😢
I have done several of the older kits without problems, but I am using a lightpad and craft light.
Shame about the symbols .. the paintings look really nice .. let's hope they take note of your email and fix the problems soon .... 😘💚

I have done several of their older kits and didn't have a problem and I am very nearsighted. I use both a lightpad and a craft light, though.
❤❤❤

I suggest you apply for a Quality control position at their company. Set them right
I did 1Dreamer designs... Never again! I'd rather spend that money else where 🫣 it was a horrible experience and ruined it for me completely.
