My black cat, Bart, showed up on my front porch a few years back and would not leave. They say if a black cat comes to stay it protects you from illness and harm, they're not bad luck. Bart has stayed with me since just before the pandemic struck and I never got Covid. Yes I'm a believer now.
A house becomes a home only with the addition of cats & books. Currently, I have 2 cats, a grey - Misti - and a black - Spooky. The black one is the best cat ever! And no, they do not go outside, nobody is going to hurt my cats!
I have the books but lack the cats... I'm debating if I should get rid of my boyfriend since he's allergic to cats and an obstacle to getting my furry feline friends. Hmmm... decisions, decisions...
I have been listening to Old Norse music that often is sung with the deep throat singing and chanting. My cat comes rushing in as tho answering an ancestor's call of the wild and insists on laying across my laptop, purring more deep and loud than her normal tone. Sometimes she joins in with the yowling 'Cat Song of Her People'. This is never done with any other music. She connects with it.
I already have a Norwegian forest cat named Freyja. My birthday was October 13th and I rescued a black cat now named Luna. I have been told black cats are harder to get adopted. Silly mortals. Lol
Happy belated birthday! In fact, I remember you have told me your birthday before, and I'm sorry I've forgotten. Indeed, I do remember at animal shelters it was impossible to adopt black cats, especially during October. It is understandable, as many people either get them "for fun" due to being the "spooky month", and then abandon them again, or sacrifice them during that period. I do hope this video helps in ending that superstition, however, what many people lack is empathy ;( . . . Thank you my friend, be well and many blessings to you and yours!
CAT-o-holic! 🤣 It would indeed have been a better religion, were this the case! I love your humor! 😊 I'm glad, my parents never had me baptized, and now I have a huge tattoo of Loki (Norse, not Marvel 😉) on my back. While he may not have much to do with cats, I find he loves animals, and now I work as a volunteer at an animal sanctuary, which gives old and abused animals (big and small) a safe home. They have cats there, too, among all kinds of other critters. 😼🐈⬛🐴🐎🐷🐐🐑🐰🐓🐢🦜🕊🦃 I rarely comment, but I hope you never stop making videos, because I've loved them and found them very valuable and informative for many years. Thank you for all the good work and high-quality research! It's very appreciated! 💝Take good care and stay well!🍀
Hello there! Thank you for your comment! Indeed it would have been a better religion, unless, no matter the path we would have taken, perhaps it would always end up in a fanatic worship of a deity and holy wars and colonization all over. Imagine that but trying to "spread the word" of our Lord and Saviour Muffins, the all Meowise. I used to do voluntary work at an animal shelter. The reason I don't do it these days is because I don't have the heart to endure the whole situation. I'm a coward in that. Seeing all the animals in those conditions, most of them were abandoned by their former owners, and the conditions are always horrible... I was always with a heavy heart and took away years of my life. Nowadays I help in other ways, of course. Hope you continue to have the strength of mind and spirit to do what you do, as it is a very noble pursuit. And thank you for that. Be well and many blessings!
@@ArithHärger Thank you for your reply, Arith! True, when any kind of belief turns into fanatism, it gets ugly. In the case of an allmighty Meowise, I assume, anyone who was a non-believer would be dubbed "the rat". 😅 And as cats can be quite cruel as well, who knows what anyone not worshipping them would have to endure. I just wish, everyone on earth could/would believe in whatever makes them feel good, and leave everyone else alone (meaning, no wars for religion and so on). Humanity has a long, long way to go, before they learn that lesson. It can indeed be heartbreaking to see animals in sad conditions arrive at the sanctuary (or a shelter, like in your case). What gives me the strength to do the job, is knowing that now they've been taken out of the place where they were treated so badly, and it's a great feeling to see how they become better aagain at the sanctuary. Of course, many of them are already old or too sick, and it's a regular occurance to deal with them dieing as well. But at least now they've been loved and taken better care of in their last days. However, I do understand you and why you can't do it anymore. It isn't easy at all to do such a job and you constantly have to remind yourself, that for all the pain you feel from witnessing certain things or losing animals you got attached to, there are also good and positive things to make up for it. Thank you for your kind words! 🌻Blessings to you, too!
I have always enjoyed it when you edit/leave in the bits of you interacting with your cats. Anyone who is an actual cat person gets it :D. Your kitties seem to be good sports about it as well :) As an animist, I feel a respect for all living things. However, cats are near and dear to me in the most profound of ways. I have never understood the animosity people feel toward them. I mean, I can understand being scared of large dogs. They bark, growl, can produce an injuring bite....but cats? My 13 year old daughter, like her father before her;), is a cat person. I think she summed it up perfectly when people ask her why she likes cats so much over dogs, "You have to earn a cat's love." I think that's what makes them so wonderful. They are all different. All have different personalities and comfort zones and preferences. Unlike a dog, you actually have to go out of your way to negotiate the terms of your bond, and once you do that there isn't, in my opinion, a stronger bond between a human and an animal. Like the gifting cycle with the gods, it is a mutual reciprocity of earned affection. As always, thank you for delivering us another wonderful bit of history.
Actually, I disagree with you: cats are not to be messed with, cats can be ferocious and wild. A cat is, and always will be, an wild animal. Unlike dogs, cats have never become tame domestic creatures. A cat has insane speed, and can climb pretty easily. Infected cat bites can turn very nasty. So yes, cats are fantastic creatures, but they do have a wild and ferocious side that can strike fear, because they cannot be controlled or truly tamed.
I agree and I say the same thing as your daughter.. Cats teach us boundaries the importance of them and how they value themselves... ❤️❤️❤️I love my babies
Your abundant love for your furry children is heartwarming and a tribute to the memory of your Tico. You make the Cataholic religion a blessing on Humanity. Pope Gregory IX was a jerk.😺😼😽😸
Nice to see your cats - so beautiful. They must love you very much, so sweet. Great video, anything to do with cats is always welcome. The cat has such a strong connection to the mystical and magical, truly amazing. So many countries, world wide, with so much lore. I found this one of your best videos - I’ll be watching this again, for sure. Stay safe and well and many blessings to you ( and your beautiful cat companions )❤.
In African or Egyptian witchcraft, cats represent the Goddess Bastet, who was of course syncretised with Diana by classical Greek scholars. The cat was a symbol of protection against evil and misfortune (and of fertility), as on a mundane level, they got rid of pests in the granaries. Thanks for not diabolizing cats and witches, as in Africa nowadays things have changed since colonial times and many cats are deliberately poisoned as it is believed that they harbor an "evil witch". My neighbour's cat was a victim recently.
@@iainmelville9411 Thank you. Actually where I live in South Africa, attacks on pagans and witches are not common, except in more outlying areas. However there is an element within the broader community which is still highly superstitious and who view any form of witchcraft as basically evil sorcery and obviously they then target people whom they suspect of being involved in witchcraft. In Africa generally speaking, the word "witch" took on negative connotations during the colonial era, when in fact all forms of traditional spirituality were condemned as being in the domain of Satan. This was due to the input of missionaries. Unfortunately ever since, the witch is believed to be a dreaded figure in society who wishes evil on everybody - a poisoner, one who is against society. Cats and snakes are particularly targeted as these are believed to be the vehicles for this evil sorcery - so that the animal, if killed, will result in the death of the witch also. Some cats are even burned alive, as are some suspected witches by means of "necklacing". This is where the suspect is beaten by the crowd and then a spare car tyre filled with gasoline is shoved over their upper body and set alight. Fortunately thanks to modern online education, most people are beginning to come around to the truth of matters , so education is the key to allaying these false beliefs.. Blessed be!
Thank you for your passionate work. I´m living in the vicinity of Schleswig (currently threatened by stormsurge) and was never quite satisfied by this story of the "Hexlein" (little witch). Thank you for clarifying this! Be well and blessed (and greetings from Bastet, my tabby cat, too)

I'm so here for this content, it just started but just keep talking about cats and you have my attention! haha. Yours are beautiful. Also I love how the sun on your wall makes you look saintly! Subscribed to your Patreon - lots of good content, Arith, thanks!
This video is the best thing I've seen in quite a while. Thank you for making me laugh this morning...Totally aside from the subject matter, of course. Thank you for that too!!!😊❣️🐈🐈⬛
As a practicing cat-oholic I appreciate this video, thank you! Also I just got my copy of that Ed Winters tome you've got back there, liking it so far.
I loved seeing you play with your cats ❤. They’re adorable. Excellent video as always! I really appreciate the knowledge and insight you bring to these topics. It’s shameful that black cats are still affected by superstitious nonsense from the Middle Ages! I lost my black cat, Loki, last summer. Such a sweet little dude who I miss very much. I also wanted to say that your English is excellent! Of course you have an accent, but it’s to be expected. There is no trouble understanding you, and your subtitles are excellent. I hope you feel comfortable pronouncing English words however they come naturally to you, and ignore criticism from others who probably only speak one language in the first place. Thank you for all you do!
OMG I just started watching and I am alive now!!! I love your great energy and sense of humor! This first gen Swedish American is now subscribed. I feel a connection here!❤
It breaks my heart that black cats went through such persecution. Of my three cats the black one is the sweetest one. He loves people and just wants to play with everyone. Not evil at all but there are still people who refuse to adopt them out of fear...
Just ran across your channel and subscribed. I am a cataholic having had multiples for 43 years. They are mystical and follow their own path. I have 5 at the moment. I would feel lost without having cats. They are part of my being. They have made my life bearable through unbearable times. They are special creatures and why people are afraid of them is unfathomable to me. Thank you and looking forward to your streams.
Thank you, great information. I have always had black cats since I was 4 years old. I have given a homeless black cat a forever home. I hope other people get over there prejudices of this colour cat. 😊
Arith, just recently found ur channel. I have to say u have a delightful sense of humor !!! Heard u play on a few of ur videos & ur exceptionally good !!!! I will have to go back and start watching ur older videos that I have missed. But u had me laughing when talking about the cats being exterminated, and the plague, " take that u human bastards !", omg !!! Too funny !!!!
Hello there! Hehe, thank you very much! Good to know that. It makes me very happy 😁 hope you enjoy the other videos and the rest of the content. Thank you for taking the time to share these words with me. Be well and stay safe!
That's pretty cool how revered cats are in Nordic witchcraft. It is very similar to how the Egyptians honored cats. I have a feline familiar myself sent by Lady Bastet and Lady Freyja.
I have a ginger cat named ziggy stardust. Hes a ferocious hunter and ruthless killer. Ive tried putting bells on his collar, keeping him inside. He always finds a way out and be a scourge on the natural world.
One of your best videos yet Arith. I enjoyed it very much. But then again I'm a Leo, one of my heroes is King Leo of Denmark, I'm a cat man myself (I'm most favorite is a North America cougar), have 2 cats, and go by the saying "A man can still be a man & own cats." I knew there was a reason why I am a Heathen
Grrreetings, dear Arith Härger. I am the representative of all cats as a species among you humans and I would like to express our sincere appreciation of your work. Finally a purrfect representation of cats that shows simple mortals our importance and divine nature =^_^= We love you and we always have our insightful eye on you to keep you safe (thank Gigi and Sόl for their good work) Again, thank you so much! And we wish you a glorious Samhain, our dear friend.
My 2 tuxedo toms Marvin and Mittens and solid black girl Salem were born outside to stray feral cat last year. I was feeding birds and crocheting and have lots of bookshelves and empty boxes. It must have attracted them. I just found your page a few days ago and am delighted. 😂 cat o holic. Thats great!❤ Your research makes a lot of things make more sense that were unclear to me before.
You are the gosh darn cutest man in the world, I love watching you with your cat babies!! 🥺🥰 hope you are well and feeling full of love, saint of lugh!
i have four cats now. i used to have 19 cats, but i'm older and i don't want to leave too many behind. yes, their litter boxes were cleaned daily. they were fed and saw the veterinarian. just wish we had clumping litter back then.
Husband and I adopted our cats intentionally from a local shelter. Link was first but is the younger and came to us just on the tail end of illness, small and still weak and now he's massive and healthy. His brother, Ganon, older but adopted second was so talkative in the kennel, he trotted up to the door and meowed at us like 'you wanted a black cat and I am here to provide'. And now he's my eternal little shadow, always close by. They were gifts from Freya to help heal a broken heart in me and I refuse to believe otherwise.
He's got Ed Winters book! I was watching a Novara broadcast, last night, and the presenter said it was the best book he had read (?for a while... ?ever... Can't remember). I guess it's a good book!
Awe, such beautiful girls you have, sure can tell you love them and they trust and love you too. Thank you, for this video some history I didn't know. Very nice. I have 3 female cats of my own. 2 Calico and 1 Black cat. All cats are wonderful and my black cat is such a lover lol, loves to cuddle and talks up a storm. Take care till next time. :)

I've been seeing a black cat(s) on my last couple walks around town, black with yellow eyes. Not sure if it's the same cat each time, but this video came out at quite the sycronized time. 🖤😻
My three cats and my dog all died in recent years. I miss them all terribly. All I have left is my rainbow lorikeet and three goldfish in the pond. My house is so empty without the cats and dog. It’s a constant mourning “silence” in my sacred space garden.
One or two people have called me a clown, but other than that I've never thought about doing comedy :P although half of the time what happens within my head is quite goofy.

2:24 is it true, as I heard years ago, that all parts of an animal in ancient rites would have been used in a ceremony? I know this isn't practiced today as it would constitute as animal abuse and is quite unnecessary. But I had heard that guts and bones were used in divination and the like while other parts were used in clothing, and feeding the village or family as a matter of respect to the animal, the practice, and ethical consideration of use. This is not specific to "cats" which you describe.

That had a suspiciously strong placement here, I noticed.
My cat is pleased to see crucial topics being covered 😺
OMG I just started watching and I am alive now!!! I love your great energy and sense of humor! This first gen Swedish American is now subscribed. I feel a connection here!❤
It's so great to see you still out here making videos! I'm so sorry to hear about Mr. Tico.
Your kitties are thinking you are quite strange, but then, my cat thinks the same of me!! Beautiful video!!
I have a ginger cat named ziggy stardust. Hes a ferocious hunter and ruthless killer. Ive tried putting bells on his collar, keeping him inside. He always finds a way out and be a scourge on the natural world.
This was the perfect video to find in my feed. Thank you! Subscribed!
Thanks for the birthday wishes!
Thanks for the video man, and nice book placement.
Finally a purrfect representation of cats that shows simple mortals our importance and divine nature =^_^= We love you and we always have our insightful eye on you to keep you safe (thank Gigi and Sόl for their good work)
Again, thank you so much!
I'm glad I stumbled on your video at first I thought it was going to be all bad but you've got a corky sense of humor and I like it.
I love that you can tell he treats his cats really well because they don't care when he's doing weird shit lol
The first 1:17 of this video is enough to warrant a like for it. So wholesome. 😊
I'm going to watch the rest of the video now. Thank you for that.
Best start ever! Love your cats! Now on with the rest of the video😍
I just discovered your channel and I'm very happy to be so lucky. ❤🐱❤ I'm "Ms. Tica" because I'm from Costa Rica 😂. Great channel 👍
I always wondered about accuracy of depiction of Freya in a cat- drawn carriage.
Thank you .
Cats and Witchcraft? Yes, please❤
He's got Ed Winters book! I was watching a Novara broadcast, last night, and the presenter said it was the best book he had read (?for a while... ?ever... Can't remember). I guess it's a good book!
Shout out to Earthling Ed!!
Thanks. From SALEM, OREGON in USA@16:36 18th OCTOBER 2023.

Absolutely ilariante! I love felines and yours are so cute ❤
Best video!! Informative and fun!
You seem like such as sweet soul thank you for teaching us❤❤
i had to watch the beginning 3 times that was cute playing with your girls lol
I've been seeing a black cat(s) on my last couple walks around town, black with yellow eyes. Not sure if it's the same cat each time, but this video came out at quite the sycronized time. 🖤😻
My three cats and my dog all died in recent years. I miss them all terribly. All I have left is my rainbow lorikeet and three goldfish in the pond.
My house is so empty without the cats and dog. It’s a constant mourning “silence” in my sacred space garden.
Love your stuff kick on love it ❤
Skal, i appreciate u ❤
great info and i love you 2 girls they are so beautiful
I'm just curious, are you also a comedian or have you ever thought to be one?! I think you have. Love your videos😸
One or two people have called me a clown, but other than that I've never thought about doing comedy :P although half of the time what happens within my head is quite goofy.
Good storyteller for sure 😊
You’re awesome!! 🤘🤘🤘
Thanks from a fellow catoholic from the Baltics and amen to the end of all stupid superstitions against animals!
You are a gentleman and a scholar sir. Skai! BIHADES GREGORY lol
Thank you for showing us your cats
I especially care to appreciate your insight shared concerning the proliferation of the plague that may have been less wide spread were our very comforting resonators of what love might feel & sound like been demonized by ignorant persecutors addicted to their own deluded sense of authority or what not. Thank you Arithemian (?)
Lindas as meninas! 😊✨
Saêm ao pai :P
Like the Green book from ed winters. I met him he's a nice bloke
Didn't realize you were vegan 🎉
@@vgang3605 I am indeed :D and to be honest, it was one of the- and very few- best choices of my life. Cheers!
@@ArithHärger one of my greatest decisions also arith
@@ArithHärger vegan only during the winter or all the time?
It's deeply poetic that the bubonic plague was, metaphorically, Freyja's retribution.
🥰 lovely….it is so wonderful to see your kitties and how they make you fill with sparkling ✨ happiness….absolutely beautiful 😻
Awwwhhh I had a cat that looked just like her except all her spots where orange I called her Mushroom RIP too my baby meow ❤️
I take it that the position of the wooden sun on the wall is done on purpose,so that your head looks like a medieval painting of an Angel 😂
❤❤❤
That was some intro 😹 Very interesting video.
I have 3 female cats. 🎉🐈⬛🔮🖤💜 Willow, Ebony, & Juno. Ebony is solid black ⚫! As a Celtic & Nordic Wiccan... I am absolutely 💯 happy to have my 3 Devine Feminine furry sisters. They are my bffs! Feline 🐈 love 4ever. Tyvm for sharing your messages. You are loved & appreciated tremendously. Much love to you all. I hope we evolve as a global society out of the hate/fear mindset. Its about damn time that people become free to believe whatever they want, as long as no creatures or plants are harmed negatively in the process. ☮🐺☯️🌈⚛🌙🦋🌱🌷🌌🐈⬛🔮🖤💜💚🌍💙
Suas gatinhas são lindas. Amor fiquei curiosa com uma coisa. A Bruxa que está na vassoura, ela está apontando com o dedo para algum lugar, o que tem embaixo da pintura dela?
Can I get a video that’s just Arith playing with his cats?
It's so wild I have the same kind of cat named mazie, and all the people I follow on UA-cam also has the same cat 🐈 lolol ❤
Awe RIP to your baby boy and I love your babies, my 3 are rescues, Shiloh he's 2, and I just rescued 2 baby kittens a week ago now midnight and willow, they were in my clients wooden barn, almost became his dog's snack, but I'm taking good care of them and they're adjusting very well! They're probably 12 weeks??
The chicken portraits are wonderful !! 😂 The church was incredible misogyn. How sick.
Nice placement of Ed's book.
The meow at the beginning 🥰
10:00 I’m jealous of that stick!
Jag har saknat dig!
Sorry about Mister Tico, (hopefuLLy, that's how you speLL his name-ThaT's what the captions said.) It says ALL i need to know, i do beLieve, that he is worth your dedication of this, a quite enjoyabLe video. FyLjur is beautifuL. It Must say something about feLines` worth in this worLd, that we can inherentLy deveLop such deep connections with them. :) BLess
You have sound cat-handling skills.
My cat love to roll in the garden grass and focus on flying objects. Playing in nature is her birthright 😽
This is not specific to "cats" which you describe.
those cats are sp cute and beautiful! Congratulations. I love cats so much!
