I couldn't agree more. I can't stand when someone gets a brand new car only to dump it 6-12 months later for something newer and flashier. They have themselves locked in a vicious cycle, and they never really enjoy what they have !
thats a great video, ill add in that the only people who can find continuous happiness in cars are auto enthusiasts, who sometimes have their loveable old beater, and the fun project car. The issue with cars besides predatory car loans and marketting, is that regular poeple who just want a daily driver get high off the initial purchase because they arent actually auto enthusiasts , just consumers.
Good point! An enthusiast is more likely be able to practice continuous gratitude for what they have and appreciate the cars they cannot yet obtain. Thanks for watching & sharing some insight.
Well said. I’ve not had as many cars, but always an older early 2000s or late 90s car. Driving the same cars 50K+ miles really made me appreciate what they offered. Sure cars have problems, but doesn’t everything? To think a new car fulfills anyone while it is a huge deprecating asset, I find peace that with my cheap car. I’ve been released to save money and invest, enjoy real life experiences. The old cars have a lot of character, been to many places, have a story. Holding on to a car you love for a long time is something a lot of people never experience. These machines are worthy of care as they care for us. Long live these wonderfully built cars of yesterday, as simplicity and quality are a dying breed. Also driving same car a long time is a lot more fun - you truly can push the known limits for some engaging fun driving, where nothing is unpredictable, you have gained more control and resonance with the car few experience
@ sure man just stumbled across your channel dropped a sub to keep up on the vids - thanks for eloquently sharing a point I try to make to people I know who think it’s broke to drive old cars - it’s rich!!
True. Keeps you level headed have you live life with gratitude driving these older cars. I feel that driving my older Honda CRV. its all i need. I appreciate things more.
Years ago I realized that if I just bought cheap enough cars, I could have two cars: a fun summertime driver + a winter workhouse. To me that’s more satisfying than having just one, nicer car.
Thanks for the video mate. Love the Rav. Very good topic to think about coming into Christmas season too regarding fleeting purchases versus being mindful and grateful of what we already have and actually find important to us.
I’d love to buy one of these, but here in Ireland we are heavily taxed for older cars despite of their condition, sometimes way higher than the car themselves. And we have to pay this money every year.😢
That car will take you even further man take good care of it properly and it will do the same they will run for 100 thousands of km/miles good choice man good choice!
Hey man. nothing will make us content. no material anything. the only thing that fills the hole inside and satisfies is God. I tried over 15 cars spent time and money making them better but the love falls away fast. I was a 36 YO agnostic until I found out God is real and the bible is a miracle.
just found your channel and I’m glad I did! I’m also a new car youtuber and I love this approach of cars but with topics of life and happiness embedded - I’m trying to do the same with my channel as well Keep up the good work Owen!
I bought a 1990 toyota pickup during covid. It was complete junk with a rusty frame. I was naive and didn't truly know how much project cars cost. I spent my stimulus checks on rims and car parts. I wanted to be the guy with the coolest lowrider on the road. Fast forward I'm 24 years old now and I really don't care about that crap anymore. I enjoy my cheap folgers coffee in the morning and doing yard work.
At the end, we are all happy with our sh**** boxes. I live in Switzerland, I bought a cheap one owner RAV4 07 3 gen diesel I only had to clean the interior and charge the AC. Runs flawlessly, And my second car it's a Daihatsu Terios (known as Toyota rush) got it very cheap, changed the clutch myself (~100usd) clean it and it goes strong. Here in Europe everyone they loves Audis bmw etc but i only see problematics cars. My sister got a 2024 Toyota chr about 3 months ago, the day we went to get it the dealership was next to a Jeep and Citroën-peugeot dealership and i just kept thinking "who does h**l gets this cars, I mean, not reliable, and get deprecated very fast... Very nice your rav, I was also Looking for a two door soft top RAV4 1gen... The good side it's that we don't have car payments!
I used to have cheap cars, they were cheap to buy, cheap to maintain... Depreciation??? What's that? Fear of thieves?? 🤣🤣🤣 Now I have a less cheap car, it's safer for the family, but not as fun because I'm afraid to damage it, it's more expensive 😐
10 years in and I love my Land Cruiser as much as I did day one. Perfect vehicle for my needs.
Land Cruisers are so cool!

Definitely! Thanks for the support 🙌
Fully agree 100%
You effortlessly made me start looking for my beloved 04/05 Honda Civic
Happy to hear! All the best

Best car ever. I love my Vibe. I will make a video about it like this one. Good inspiration thank you brother.
That’s what I like to hear!
My Mom still has her '03 Vibe AWD my parents bought new in 2003, and it's still going strong!

I absolutely have been on the same quest, and I appreciate your insights. I love the quote about comparison. Excellent video! Liked and subbed!
😄🙌
We can’t kill my wife’s rav4. I have bought and sold at least 5 cars but hers is the one reliably getting us from point a to b year after year.
That’s awesome! 💪

@Owen_Earl 👊
Please make more videos of the rav4 😊 I have one that is getting fixed now. Hopefully you can keep it for a long while 😊
That’s great! Stay tuned, I’ll feature the Rav4 lots more.
I’d love to buy one of these, but here in Ireland we are heavily taxed for older cars despite of their condition, sometimes way higher than the car themselves. And we have to pay this money every year.😢
Wow, I never knew that!
I get people all the time telling me I need a new car. Im happy with what I have , I dont want another car payment and all those digital screens lol
I will always listen to someone that pulls up in a mk1 rav4

Are you in Southern Alberta? The places in the video have a familiar vibe!
That car will take you even further man take good care of it properly and it will do the same they will run for 100 thousands of km/miles good choice man good choice!

Good points, I do believe in a higher safety standard for primary family vehicles. 😄
Nice
Thank you
like ok, did ANY of those sports cars you bought have >400HP?
No way-but that would be a lot of fun!
@ that explains it
wow you're cute
