A recharge method i love to use is with my friends. if you have unlocked the hug friendship level, you can hug a friend to help recharge them or yourself. this only works when you're both lit, but the speed is amazing! its almost as fast as an instant recharge and can be used anywhere with no cost! i hope this helps!

new players, it's good to practice flying in the 4/4 area valley of triumph (flying race area) cuz it has a lot of still air that recharges u up as well as keeps u afloat, also it has tricky round metal shapes hanging around, practice flying through those, at first you'll bonk and hit way too much but by practicing you'll become more efficient. starlight desert is also a good place to practice, fly with the clouds in daylight prairie to get more control

One thing I would add for something you can do in gliding mode is banking to get to higher places, like the last level of vault or even the wind walls of home space. If you angle your trajectory so you're always flying a bit to the side, you can get a little more lift and even beat the mantas to the top floor with 9 flaps if you start flying right away.

I'll give it a try! Gliding was pretty much intuitive for me so I never paid attention to how I actually glided lol, so this is a good point. I'll take notice of it next time, thanks!

Same. I got a bit better after I used chibi mask then stopped using it thou. Chibi is more slippery so even when I'm bad controlling it, I got better when control my Sky kid in their default height.
But I'm still soooo bad at controlling camera movements 😭

One tip i have that not many know is, you know when you’re on a ledge and you’re trying to get down but you sky kid is scared and won’t go down, make sure to be sliding before reaching the edge, in other words hop a little before reaching that way you start sliding and when you slide of the edge your sky kid will not be affected by any gliding assists and gravity will pull you down, allowing you to maneuver up and down without the useful but yet annoying gravity assist. New player who just started the other day. Having tons of fun and these tips really helped especially with the tips on turning while gliding. Also i can confirm that step hopping is a huge game changer especially on those pesky trials where you don’t have your cape to save you if you make a mistake. There’s a bit towards the end of trial of earth that’s brutal if you try to jump but step hoping makes it super easy.

"Step hopping" in midair without platforms around makes you instantaneously change direction of flight.
I would call it "Flapping dash".
This way is far more effective at changing direction in flight.
More over, "step hopping" is more then just hopping.
It's "reach step", literally midair jump with automatic search for space to land on.
It works on quite long distances.

I found a trick for gliding that im not sure if it works (just my doubts) but i can assure you it does work! When youre in gliding mode, you can do hoop-de-loops! Basically flick any directions on the left screen strongly and repeatedly so your character can spin upwards, left or right, that way you can switch directions quickly or fly higher without using too much energy. I find it quite hilarious seeing my character flips all over the place to get somewhere 😂

For me, I use the flapping mode more because the game forces me to fly down faster despite trying to steer up. Gives me flashbacks where I deal with the same issue in Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon. Hopping is hard to get up platforms in the Vault of Knowledge because you hop through in between the floating stones when it didn’t happen previously

i wish so many more people know about step hopping ;-; its a game changer and i discovered it accidentally. i found that in flapping mode, its easier to step hop then in gliding.

aside from the joke, I have nothing better to do so i’ll type out how it works on the switch in the same pattern Press Peach talked about it :D
please note that the switch’s touchscreen does not help you in moving around :)
instead of flicking the screen, you can jump by pressing the B button! skipping is tilting the left joystick to the direction you’d like to go to and spam pressing the B button. running/walking is the same.
to toggle flight modes, a quick press on the R button does the job.
(a quick note from me, spinning upwards gives you a heigh boost in flight! to spin, just hold the R button. You decide where to spin to via the left joystick.)
The things that flicking does in the video is also easily done with the B button!
everything else matches up exactly, so uh

Thank you! As for the fast run, I'm not sure if you meant (moving forward + hopping) as a fast run, or something else entirely. Chibis also tend to do the "Naruto run" and it seems like they're running fast, but in actuality they're just moving their legs faster to catch up to the regular speed a taller sized person runs at 😂 so I'm a bit confused as to which you might be talking about 🤔

I don't think Momo/Peach (I'm new to their channel idk their name well lol) mentioned this, but a very good trick for flying upward/getting up somewhere: Go into glide mode, the one with the trail and widespread wings, and move in circular motions while pressing for energy boosts. It should look like, based on the trail you leave behind, you are travelling in a spring/slinkie shape, continuously going in circles upwards. This method has helped me get up to places with less wing light usage, compared to flapping upwards which involves constant wing usage.

If you're gliding and do a "crash landing" but spin in a tight circle at the end, you can land pretty accurately. It's similar to how people can slow down when ice skating.

I am brand new to Sky, and really enjoy your videos. Thanks for all of the efforts. The game is quite addictive. Previously I listed Skyrim (on PC) and Zelda: Breath of the Wild as my favs, but I think Sky is the New Numbah One.
