    I continue to be amazed that all of the pre-exposure and post-exposure early interventions that have promise are being ignored. Certainly the evidence is not air-tight, but you're picking up a $100 bill in front of a tricycle, not a penny in front of a freight train!

    • @marg716
      @marg716 3 роки тому

      Which early interventions are you speaking of? I did not understand your comment about the tricycle. Example - my Dr. told me to follow EVMS protocol which includes oral zinc & famotidine.

    • @sengsational
      @sengsational 3 роки тому +3

      @@marg716 To understand the tricycle analogy, think about the risk of doing something not at all risky, but with a possible huge reward (if the tricycle hits you, it will do no damage, but either way, you're able to pick-up the $100 bill). In the Covid-19 arena for instance, you could take ivermectin, a drug that has been around for 20 years with a known safety record (tricycle) and has shown promise as a prophylactic against Covid-19 and maybe save you from serious disease (the $100). It's used in other countries, but not mentioned by this mainstream-only physician (and most other mainstream-only physicians that march to the beat of big medi-business). Zinc and an ionaphor? Ignored, but decent evidence. Bromhexine, again, that one is over-the-counter everywhere except the US and UK, has shown some promise in other countries, but ignored here in the US.

Can Dr Mina’s CT test be self administered by all the people in the vaccine trial? Seems that would be an easy way to test infectivity every week. However, my personal opinion is that a scientific opinion should be sober and that means, from my point of view which is from a lay person, that to conclude the success of these vaccines we should wait a year, two, four up to 10, and then we could be more confident.

    1:53:30 I think Dickson poses a great question. If the brunt of Asymptomatics don't produce a notable response to the virus, and this translates to a LOW MEMORY, then what's to say they will produce a notable response to the "decoy virus" and not be re-infected and spread the real virus indefinitely for life?
    On that note, what if a brunt of the "second wave" consists of first wave asymptomatics (with low memory) getting reinfected due to low anti-body production. I mean, if I was an immune system, I wouldn't spend resources to make a whole bunch of memory and blockades for something that doesn't do anything to my host. It wouldn't be worth the effort.

    1:49:00 what is known about vaccines and the risk of those hypothetical "hidden symptoms" of asymptomatic SARS-cov-2 infections? Higher risk of heart attack and maybe other things related to epithelial tissue damage. Theoretically the vaccine would make the asymptomatic infections even milder in this kind of damage, if that's real, but I'd guess that it's perhaps wiser to wait for sterilizing vaccines before exposing oneself too much, rather than seeing infections as beneficial boosts. I wonder how much is known about this kind of thing, if there are confirmed excess deaths or some other occurrence in people who had asymptomatic infection versus those who hadn't. Maybe there's some prior predisposition to both, but maybe not enough to explain totally.

  • @petitio_principii

    There's no strict meaning of what are "neanderthal genes." 99,999999% of the alleles are shared. There are genes thought to possibly be considered of neanderthal origin in Africa, but some people consider those may be really just ancestral genes shared both by the ancestors of humans and neanderthals, so they exclude those. Under this assumption, it seems East Asians have the highest frequencies of neanderthal alleles. Under a less strict criterion, it would be people from Southern Europe, Middle-East, and the Mediterranean, if I recall.

    The problem is that some people will remain skeptical regardless of 'data'. They are and I believe it is understandably resistant to things and "science" that they cant see. Or that for some reason they don't believe in. My way to attempt to explain these things is to start with Lady Montague who used variolation on her own sons (it was a risky process, and was before Jenner's discovery). But not everyone can understand these things. And there is also, with some, a deep seated fear of what some power group is doing. Scientists might be amazed but historians and philosophers are not. History has shown endless examples of the misuse (in some cases terrible and barbaric) of technology and 'science'. I try to persuade people rather than using Rick's "dying of gullibilty". That attitude is non productive. More people will resist it, especially many people who, say, fear the police and other authorities, not just in the US and (here in NZ) but is say Russia (where they poison people and say China where they don't allow democracy in Hong Kong (and the Government is always more or less the same) , the activities of Australian SAS who murdered children recently (there is an inquiry now) and others in Afghanistan even in recent times (in Japan, Europe, Korea & Vietnam etc the use of "precision" killing bombs, made by science) and the use of fire bombs an so on, Teller's desire to take out the USSR with his hydrogen bomb and much else). So there are people who simply do not trust science and tech. and it does depend who is in control of e.g. making vaccines. After all there is no way of proving there is no conspiracy. But my way is to suggest that a person who thinks that way takes the attitude that, on a kind of stat average, more people in medicine are probably "good", and vaccines seem to work. I take the flu vaccine each year and have had all the required jabs. But others I know refuse to believe or cannot understand what a virus is, others simply don't understand any science and never will. They will remain suspicious. More intelligent ways of convincing them are necessary. It has never been the case that vaccines are compulsory. I understand people refusing help and just letting themselves die. This is an existential choice. It is called freedom of choice. Rather than 'gullibility', there is a certain courage and nobility to such an attitude. (Although I myself support vaccines for myself and others who say have children and want to protect them etc). But to persuade people a bull-headed approach against those who are "against science" is no good.

      I think it's a mistake to call anti vaxxers against science, many of them have done extensive research after having a vaccine injured child and yes it happens, not often but it does. I appreciate your comment though.

    The restaurant (Queens, NYC) I eat at like every day these days does karaoke in the back and serves alcohol and stuff and some people there seem like nothing has changed. I feel pretty safe being served there though since they got hit and likely everyone must have serious anti-bodies. The grandfather died, the mom was sick for a month, the pop was hospitalized, and both kids tested positive for anti-bodies. Unless they hired brand new wait staff or something, I'm pretty sure everyone is "immune" for a good length of time at least. Unfortunately, it's actually uncommon to visit a restaurant here that hasn't had at least some form of episode like this to make them "safer to be served at".
