Hey I know this is an older video but I just got into DCS and these videos are wonderful and much more explanatory than the in game tutorial I feel so thank you very much
Minor correction Cap, the vertical line you were lining up on the 500kg bomb was not a CCRP guide line. It's part of the HUD attitude indicator, you may notice that it's there before you designate the CCRP target. It's the line that symbolizes the vertical stabilizer, you can notice that it turns in concert with the horizontal lines representing the wings. I believe that for the TV guided munitions there's no bomb drop line on the HUD because the bomb should steer itself. Ideally you just line up the plane on the ground target diamond as best you can and then fly straight until release. For night time bombing with the TV guided bombs, it's possible to take an illumination flare (the name of which I completely forget) and drop it over the target and then have following planes or subsequent passes target ground targets. A neat thing about that is that a single plane with a night vision pod and flares can act as spotter for an entire group of planes that don't need to take pods of their own.
@@grimreapers I tried to launch the website but it never goes through I have launch Authority but it never seems to send the rocet I don’t know what to do whatever i use the canon it works but when I missile it doesn’t work
It's much easier to lock targets if you zoom in, the shkval has a 7x mode and i believe a 23x mode, use the - and = keys for changing zoom levels edit: also KAB-500KRs require altitude to guide properly, anything above 2k meters is generally good from my experience
Worth mentioning: it's a good idea to set you altitude and roll hold autopilot while targeting, unless you're evading at the same time or you're in a box canyon about to hit a cliff wall. Also, all of the slew, zoom, and target size box controls can be set to axes on a HOTAS. It's very easy to do on the X56. Also, with the KAB, above 300 is fine but you might have to override launch authorisation under 2000. Over 2000, you won't have a problem, and it's better to have some good altitude anyway because it gives the bomb the most opportunity to build maximum energy, although I'm not sure that's simulated in this game.
For some strange reason, although I have a lock, and be within range, I just can't fire the weapon. Edit: I want to thank everyone who answered. My problem is solved, you just have to hold the fire button, not just touch it.
I cant get launch athority and it doesn’t say “tv”, my screen is only saying “tb” or something. I have it locked on and its saying “ac” but no launch authority. Im within range, and im holding the fire button. Can somebody help?
@@caslightning You have the russian cockpit. TB translates to TV. I don't know what you mean with the AC, but you should be seeing a ΠP flashing on the TV and on the HUD to be able to fire. Remember to press the weapon release button, and not the cannon trigger button.
For best results with the KAB-500Kr do not target lock, just leave it in ground lock (you may need to resize the target box) and be above 3000 meters. I doubt this is the way it is supposed to work, but that's how it works in DCS.
Well better explained than the training lesson :). What do you use for slewing? I use default warthog "mouse" button on throttle but it is not accurate
Awesome videos. I actually love the fast pace of them. The in-game tutorials feel so fucking slow some times. I actually had no idea the 29T was fire and forget. I was always trying to keep my radar gimbal within the degree limit after launching. Now if thats the case, even if I get a new target locked up in my shval, the 29T will still go to the original target and I can just get a second rifle going before the first impact?
These are not TV Guided munitions, these are laser designated weapons. They are TV designated, but guided by their laser seeker on the nose of the missle/bomb. A true TV Guided weapons would be like AGM 62 Walleye, but considering the KH-29 carried on the SU-25 did have the option to be guided by the TV via radio control.
Again a great Video - thnx! I have the problem that i want to aim on a train (fueltrailers) and i couldn't get a look - whatever i try nothing works for me. Targebox increase decrease. You need to press and hold the fire key when you have launch authority, simply tapping it won't work. The release parameters for a launch authority differ depending on the munitions. I'd recommend doing the SU25T tutorial missions as they go over a lot of the key bindings, as well as teach a lot of important fundamentals. Hope this helps and have fun!
@@Maver1ckGR F-15C and the Georgian War Campaign worked perfect for me. The F-15C is considered a simple model compared to other fully implemented aircraft. Then you can more easily build from there into say the A-10C (be prepared for brain strain) or F-18's etc. Even heli's. The aircraft isn't the hard part to learn though, it's how to understand the world and the battlefield. Makis Karamanlis DCS is free sim, you get the Caucasus map, the TF-51 (unarmed P-51) and the SU-25T (the plane in this video). You’ll need good mid-level gaming computer, and a “HOTAS” (Hands On Throttle And Stick) controller (get any of them for a first setup, price should be < $60; I use and would recommend the T1600) Also *strongly* recommend head-tracking software such as Track IR 5 (TIR 5, about $150)...allows you to turn your head and your view in the monitor moves with your head, very immersive).
