Omg. I was at this game and they was absolutely amazing!! Memphis state fans kept bragging about the band all day! I said yep I drove all the way here just to see this band!!

That Purple Carnival was damn good. This is from a M100 member. I cant understand all the negative energy from their own fans. The Jukebox looks and sound fkn amazing to me, and our band history doesn't allocate that kind of support for each other. I'm not a band head for bashing and choosing sides. Each band brings a unique style and energy that exemplifies the culture, and history from which they come from. No other race of people in the United States can emulate or duplicate what we do. Gods amongst men. Support each other and stop ya damn crying.
Oh yeah. See you Sept 21st.

Their media team should get be awarded for best cinematography covering a marching band marching into a stadium because they catch every little nuances that makes "The Human Jukebox" a brand and great attraction for Southern University.

Starting at time 18:14 is when U see the flowered plumes on the U of Memphis band members hats starting grooving........those are the black band members who knew they phucked up, and how long the day was gonna be, and who wished at that point that came and marched in the SWAC instead :) :) :) :) :) :) . #LuvDaBoom

We have had 4 band directors in the last 4 years.We have gone from Greggs to Jackson to Haymer to Taylor.Taylor has to make his imprint on the band.He's doing well,but we seem to lack the mean streak and belligerence or showmanship that Haymer.The band maybe slightly more balanced which is a positive.I am a noticing more racial diversity in our band too which probably or surely makes a difference.I thought the band got stronger as the season and competition intensified.I expect that to happen this year.The band was great in Houston.They held back at McNeese and in Memphis.Don't expect a lot against Edward Waters either.Let's reserve our opinions until the FAMU game in Tallahassee.
Yo, you need to edit this comment!!!!!!!!!!! You meant to write that you've had 4 band directors in the last 40-years - not 4-yrs. In reality, every director after Dr. Greggs was trained by him so in fact you've had one director since the 1960's.

All y’all stop hating on SU. If you haven’t heard them in person stop talking. I have heard them in person at the battle of the bands. Nobody was on there level. Miles college was the only band that came close to there sound. The rest of the bands in the SWCA are not pushing at all at this time. PV is the only band that came up and they pushing now. Still not on SU level but they push more than the other SWAC bands.

This was the most boring stuff Ive seen of SU. I know it wasnt SUs fault though. Some of these other colleges are simply petty with the way they operate when it comes to visiting bands. From cutting the Halftime show to 4 minutes to stopping SU in the middle of songs. I seen what happened to LSU in Texas also with Texas putting LSU in the nose bleeds! SMH....... That’s how you know your band is poppin!!!!!

There are some videos of it here on UA-cam, if you search for it. The videos are not long though. I'm wondering/thinking that it had to do with the restraints that the University of Memphis placed on Southerns band.

How big is Southern this year?
Not sure, but this is NOT the full band. This is the travel band, I believe.
Something’s missing. I don’t know what it is but something is not here. I’m not going to say that it’s because of the directors because I know B. Simmons is certified. Real Jukes and die hard Juke fans help me out on this one. All I know is come November when they’re in Jackson, MS they have to bring fire, don’t feel like hearing my JSU buddies mouths for an entire year.

It's nothing wrong with them everybody is just used to Haymer he ain't there no more it's a new man in town Taylor and trust me November they gone bring it, don't they always, The Dolls normally be in the front but they was already in the stands
They have no spirit! They are VERY BORING! They are like ZOMIES! They don't play during games to keep the fans or players hyped. When marching, the capes don't swing like they use to. The hat tassles BARELY move. When they are marching, their legs are not lifted off of the ground at an angle like the old Juke Box use to be. Even in the stands they are not synchronize with movement or routines. It is just hard to watch! Most bands have the SU sound. From what I saw in Houston at the BOB the even have the class and charisma. Since it is hard to watch on UA-cam I won't spend money for homecoming nor Bayou Classic.
Viveca SU fan 4 life clearly said I’m not aiming this towards the directors. Read it again. But if you think that can’t get caught slacking and ate up by these other HBCU’s, please think again. I live for SU and probably will until the day I die but I have seen other bands get out on them because they didn’t deliver. I’m not that naive to not notice that. I never blame the directors because Haymer wasn’t better than Dr. J in my book but he was awesome as well in his own way. This “Band” is missing something key right now. Btw, I never really paid attention to the Dancing Dolls because they’re going to dance whether the sound is off or not. Danielle Stamper was pretty cold though!
@@maricorainey5823 I understand what you are saying if they start slacking but I think they going to be alright this Southern here ain't nothing like last year Southern the boys came out the gates swing and trust me I know a lot of these bands hate SU but they may always come close but they can never take over the Juke's they may try but it never happened and trust me I love them and been following them over 20 plus years I don't think nobody love them as much as I do and then to this is only a March in there are March in is the same as it was when Nate was there

Southern has the most simplest elementary cadences.They need a percussion instructor to write them out some semi hard cadences. ..... Please get some college level cadences..

I've been saying that shit for 15 years. There is NOTHING complicated or technical about SU cadences. MEAC drumlines would eat SU up. And I am a DIE-HARD SU fan.
So SU don't use multi-tenors??

Those band uniforms are wool, so for some hot daytime games early fall they wear the jogging suits instead.

@@anthonydent206 there are those who will always believe that Southern's band rests on one man's shoulders. They along with the imitators and haters has their place. This band always puts them in that place. This one man they speak of is with another band now, they can follow him and that band and stop trying to sabotage this new guy and his band. We are the Jukebox. Always has been, always will be. With or without you.

In person those drums sound really good.
