Why make such a big deal about a raise in social security when Medicare always goes up more than the raise in social security. Sounds more like we can always expect a cut every year in our social security check. Seems like someone needs a lot more instruction in arithmetic .

So SSI will go up $50. and the Medicare will increase by around $10.00. It will increase approximately $40.00.
And you cannot blame it on Biden. My mother had a similar situation under the Reagan administration....$20.00 more on SSI, but Medicare B went up $12.00 monthly.....typical.

    • @antiquegirl6505

SSI will increase approximately $50. & Medicare will take $10.00 of that. It is typical.
My mother had the same problem one year (under Ron Reagan). SSI increased by $20., & Medicare took $12.00 of that monthly.

Suggesting to seniors that they build alternate sources of income when they only have social security and they are past 67 with no chance of getting meaningful work is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. How do you build other income streams when you have no extra cash or ways of getting cash?

There are infinite ways to earn an honest income.
Me for instance, Im 72 and am self employed cleaning vacation rentals and cleaning homes on the market for realtors.
As for non-physical labor, Ive hit yard sales for resale on Ebay. Also picked up unwanted contents from homes that were going up for sale.
Once I came across a couple of Louis the XVI cognac that I almost tossed until I learned from a search that tho the bottles were valuable, those full ones were worth 1200 each.
i believe in actively taking control of generating an income, but if a person is truly physically or mentally disabled from doing anything then they should be considered for a higher monthly amount of SS.

True, It has never been easier to understand how to build your money after retirement than it is right now with the inflation, when you may study and experience a completely variegated market passively by employing a successful portfolio-advisor. The COLA yields a considerable reduction in the lifestyle for seniors. This has been the case for decades, and many seniors no longer have "disposable" income. This is an insult.

Then medical insurances are going on and on every few months about their billion dollars in profits
