I literally just did a devotion this morning on giving up my will and letting Gods will, lead the way, in His time.
With the golden calf, there are two schools of thought. One being the calf representing a new god, the second being a representation of God they had been following, and it's not a question of which is correct.
Either school leads us to important facts about ourselves, humans.
We are impatient, we give our loyalty over if and when it suits our will. Even when we see with our eyes that we are provided for outside of our will. That is not the kind of relationship we were meant to have or should have with Him.
This lesson goes all the way to Adam and Eve. They chose their will over Gods, followed what suited them to do, and were thrown out of the garden. Regardless of the snake (advasary) it was their choice.
I know that many a time, I trust in Gods hand in my life, and end up inserting my own without thought that I'm actually meant to let Gods will work it all out. It's not even a conscience "I'm gonna do it my way".
It's easy to do. It's harder to be trully mindful and patient.
How quickly I forget the true calm that comes with letting go of making my will the forerunner.
It's a good thing God's patient.I thank Him for it every day.
Being humbled by Gods will, so as to remind us that His will should and does trump ours, is trully a blessing.
    You produce wonderful content.
    Thank You 👍

WHY WOULD ANYONE ACCEPT A GOLDEN CALF AS A SUBSTITUTE FOR GOD?

All throughout history, people have worshipped tangible items (statues, etc). While it might seem ridiculous that someone would see a golden statue of something as their God, the golden calf is no different than how we often place our trust and security into tangible things such as money or people. The common denominator in both scenarios is the lack of fully understanding and trusting in God to lead us and take care of us.

Whether if the story is true or not the lesson means of going back and denouncing the faith once confessed . And return to the idol worship maybe a older belief you had Like the Israelites went back to worship Egyptian "bull god Apis" for you and me might be a addiction, or a former "Apple of my Eye" or a former religion or spiritual beliefs or new Idol . Whatever it may be for you . Moses correction to the people Is for us Returning to the "Word of God" Jesus Christ being convicted by the Holy Spirit and asking for repentance and in Faith and Patience waiting for redemption. The things Jesus taught us in The Gospel's.
