Let me straighten things out. Gogeta and Vegeto are two different fusions that both appear in the series. Gogeta is the fusion Goku and Vegeta normally use and Vegeto is rarely seen. Gogeta is formed when Goku and Vegeta do the fusion dance and Vegeto is formed when Goku and Vegeta use the Potara earrings.
I like how the enemies who can heal easily (like Buu) dominate at the beginning but still lose in the end. An enemy like Buu who can heal/restore themselves would be nearly impossible to beat realistically.

it was during the buu fight, as vegeta was dead, and goku was alive. kinda messed up time to fight an inter-dimensional demon if you ask me, since in the story line the only time vegeta was dead and goku alive was during the buhan episodes.
