the eruv thing is strange to me. to me don't carry on the Sabbath doesn't seem to me to mean you can't have keys or your cylinder seal on your person, to me it seems like it means do not exert yourself in porting goods as a job or carrying heavy items to improve your home; I don't see where there conflation between carrying and having an item on ones person comes from. carrying to me means your arms/hands are full. I would argue my wallet or keys in my pocket are being 'carried' by my pocket; no that's too anthropomorphic, being borne by my pocket. so to me bearing a few incidentals is not 'carrying' if my arms are swinging free, not porting goods.
Hello, David. Boy this internet thingy is so cool; you can reply to things written years ago! In case you haven't found a satisfactory answer since then, let me tell you that the Sabbath restriction on carrying in a space defined in Jewish law as a public Domain is mentioned in the Torah itself, where it mentions an Israelite man in the desert gathered sticks on the Sabbath and was stoned to death at the word of Moses. Who are you, to make such decisions? Are you head of nations or Moses?
