Got my truck on Wednesday. They got me a load going home since whatever head cold I had previously moved down to my chest. So far everyone seems great at MNS1. Start first full week on Monday !
Navigation - how do you use Garmin and Trucker Path in tandem? (I assume Garmin for GPS, TP for satellite and current parking conditions?) Which would you prefer if you had to choose only one? Why?
I run both simultaneously, programming my destination into each. In general, the routes that each one chooses are close, if not identical in many cases, but not always. There can often be small, and sometimes even very big differences. When there are differences, I follow whichever one makes more sense to me, based on my experience. As far as which one I would choose over the other if I had to choose only one, I would pick the Garmin. The main reason is that the Garmin works off of map data that it downloads and stores in it’s memory. Because of that, it does not require cellular or internet connectivity to operate. That makes it far more reliable, especially in places with bad cell reception. The Trucker Path app requires cellular service. It can’t run without it. To run it on an iPad, like I do, requires an iPad that has cellular service. That, of course, adds significant costs. For me, the additional cost is more than worth it for the large iPad screen. It’s a night and day improvement over using the app on a cellphone. Although it can be pretty glitchy, and the functionality of the app is terrible in terms of intuitive process flow, the high-detail satellite view and the ability to chose the exact spot at the destination you wish to arrive at, makes it a very valuable tool to have. That has always been a major shortcoming of Garmin. Even though their Dēzl products are specifically designed for semi truck navigation, there is no easy way to chose the exact arrival location. Instead, it will route you to the mailing address. No big deal for mom and pop locations but when you’re going to a large manufacturing, warehousing, or distribution facility, the mailing address is almost always an entirely different location from where the shipping or receiving docks are located. Trucker Path allows you to zoom in on the satellite view and pinpoint exactly where the correct location is. That saves a lot of time and aggravation. It’s also highly useful in allowing you to always see the satellite view of where you are at, at all times. That has proven super helpful when needing to find a place close by to make a quick, unplanned stop. Hope that helps answer your questions.
Most recyc plants, mills, resellers I've delt with give you 10 minutes to sweep out at the doc. Guess those bozos expect you to go and pay to use a trailer washout.
Good videos again🎉
Thank you!
Glad to see you looking and sounding much better uncle Dirk!
Lot of love
Me too, thanks! Almost fully fabulous again … 😂😜😎
As a virtual trucker, your videos are always a good watch. Enjoy them all.
Thank you! Much appreciated! I’m glad you’re enjoying them.

Awesome! Congrats! Sorry you’re not feeling well. I hope it passes quickly! So are you the hunting camo guy, the green shirt, or the yellow t-shirt?
@@DirkTrucks Camo guy ! Haha. Thanks. Got some meds from doctor and I’m already doing a lot better, finally have some energy back.
Weekends off!

Have you been to the mill in Toledo Or? That's like being on another planet.
Heard of it but I’ve never been. Maybe one day, but I’ve never had a trucking job that had me out west.

@@DirkTrucks That's a fantastic response - thank you for the insights!
Happy to help if and when I can!

Right? A few minutes if they’re being nice! This dude was awesome. Super cool too. Always appreciate people like that and I let them know it.
