Time for another “Fun With Fashion” video! Today the style icon “Whitley Gilbert” a character on the hit show “A Different World” played by Jasmine Guy is my inspiration! Pulling thrifted items straight from my closet to create some looks that have that throwback appeal! You know I like retro/vintage styles! Hope you enjoy! BTW, what would you like to see next?

Yes Whitley's style was classic, very Chanel type vibes and still on point today. Another style noteworthy person is the character "Big Dee Dee" from the African American show Half and Half. My mother and I would watch the show just to see what she was wearing!!

I loved this post. I grew up in Atlanta and now work at a university. I really like Whitley's character. i think her song was,"Try Me". My favorite look was the red dress. Whitley's was pink ( I could wear that to an AKA function today.) I really enjoyed this and look forward to the next style icon video.
I attended Northside high school during Jasmine Guy same period (she was a senior, me a junior). She always had a friendly vibe about her (I was an underclassman and she would wave if she saw me in the hallway) , She played the Whitney character very well. I was sorry to see the Different World series end. My favorite outfit you styled was the bolero blazer with the black leggings. Hilary basically had the same style also. You seem to favor the color red, it a strong color to wear. I do have some red pieces but just like my red lipsticks are barely worn. Thanks for sharing and blessing to you and all in the days to come.

Yes I remember her, and I loved her fashion. I didn’t know about her thanks for the information. She was a dancer wow. That was a great show , it really inspired young black people. Lovely style my dear, you did great.
She did a song called Try Me. The video showed some of her dance moves. She was hilarious on A Different World. Fun fact - I dated a guy who looked a lot like Dwayne Wayne...and he wore the flip up glasses. Lol
