SAD Silent Battles We Fight During the Holidays

- The holidays can be beautiful, but for so many, they bring quiet struggles-grief, loneliness, or that hard-to-describe heaviness that makes it feel like your light is dimming. We wanted to create something for anyone who feels that way, to let you know you’re not alone in those moments.
"The Light That Flickered Out" by Sheaberry touches on themes like Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), emotional exhaustion, and the struggle to hold onto hope when everything feels overwhelming. It’s about recognizing that even when the world seems so full of light, it’s okay if you’re not feeling it-and it’s okay to ask for help.
Thank you for taking the time to listen and watch. If this resonates with you, I hope it brings even the smallest sense of comfort or connection. You matter, and your light matters, even if it flickers at times. 💙
If you or someone you love feels trapped in the dark, know that help is out there.

Lyrics:
The air’s cold, pressing heavy on my chest,
Windows glow, but I can’t feel the rest.
Half-strung lights sputter, half-alive,
A flicker, a promise, that barely survives.
Crowds and chatter, holiday rush,
Laughter sounds like static too much.
I’m a ghost at the window, fingers trace
Dreams in frost, a forgotten place.
Didn’t think the night would speak so loud,
Every star lost behind a cloud.
I’m a melody that’s out of tune,
The season sings, I hum a rune.
December lights, they’re mocking me,
Twinkling in a world where I can’t be.
Everyone’s waltzing in borrowed cheer,
While I’m here, fighting to appear.
December lights, they dance so bright,
I’m holding on, knuckles white.
They don’t know I’m trying not to fall,
In the quiet, I hear it all.
I tried baking, like Mom used to do,
Sugar and flour, hope bleeding through.
But the warmth didn’t reach, didn’t stay,
Just crumbs on a plate, memories fray.
Sam called, “You good, my friend?”
I laughed a hollow sound, tried to pretend.
"Yeah, just busy," the lie felt stale,
Truth caught in the throat, a paper-thin veil.
Didn’t think silence would break so hard,
In the dark, every breath feels scarred.
I’m a spark that forgot its flame,
Haunted by the days that call my name.
December lights, they’re mocking me,
Twinkling in a world where I can’t be.
Everyone’s waltzing in borrowed cheer,
While I’m here, fighting to appear.
December lights, they dance so bright,
I’m holding on, knuckles white.
They don’t know I’m trying not to fall,
In the quiet, I hear it all.
And the house next door, the music’s wrong,
Off-key notes in a fading song.
Echoes of laughter spill into the street,
And I’m wishing for warmth I can’t repeat.
This tree’s bare, and so am I,
Tangled branches against the sky.
Maybe tomorrow, maybe light,
Maybe this will end tonight.
But December lights (December lights)
They see me here (they see me here)
A silent witness (a fading year)
And I’m hoping, praying (the switch will turn)
That in the cold (the fire will learn)
To burn, to breathe (to find its way)
December lights (don’t fade away)
December lights, they’ve seen it all,
The way I crumble, the way I call.
They don’t know I’m trying not to fall,
In the quiet, I hear it all.
I’m the light that flickered out.
I’m the light that flickered out.
I’m the light that flickered out.

@@SheaberryMusic This is true!
This song is a beautiful reminder that it’s okay to not be okay, especially during a time when the world feels like it’s supposed to be full of joy. To anyone feeling the weight of this season, your feelings are valid, and your light matters, even if it flickers. 💡✨
Thank you so much for your beautiful words!
At my work, we deal with a lot of people who are suffering from addiction. Many of them are homeless and afraid of the cold. Many have been cut off from family and the loneliness they feel is heartbreaking.
As much as this is a time for celebrating and joy, this is also a time where we should be looking to those in need and what we can do to better the lives of those around us. We never know what someone is going through, but treating someone with kindness can go much, much further than people realize. I see it everyday.
Thank you for sharing this-it really moved me. What you do every day is incredible, and it’s the kind of compassion the world needs more of. I’ve worked in mental health myself, and I know how heavy it can be to see that kind of loneliness and pain up close. What you said about kindness going further than we realize is so true-it’s something I’ve seen again and again.
When I wrote "The Light That Flickered Out," it came from a place of understanding how deeply people can hurt, especially during the holidays when everything is supposed to feel joyful. Your reminder to look out for those who are struggling really hits home. We never know what someone is carrying, and sometimes the smallest gesture of kindness can change everything for them.
Thank you for being that light in their lives, even when it’s hard. What you’re doing matters so much more than words can say. 💙
Wonderful song for everyone struggling with the Holidays & seasonal blues!
Thank you!
A good reminder that the holidays can be a struggle for some around us. Good song, and it touches you. Different spin for a Christmas song.
Thank you so much. It is so important to remember that this is not a happy season for many.
@@SheaberryStudios It's a great reminder.
This song slaps! Why isn't this more popular?🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thank you so much! We're happy if it helps one person, but we would never complain about reaching more people.
This sounds so good! Great message and beat!
