Denmark is an elective monarchy. It’s a formality these days but each monarch since the 1920 has been approved by the people. Every time we make a change to the kings law we have to also confirm that the monarch is still the monarch and that their heir will be next monarch
nordic countries are some of the least religious countries in the world. Atleast in finland most people say they dont beleave in any higer power but still remain in the cristian churches papers.
Id say most people arent religious in most Nordic countries, lot of them are still part of the church and partisipate in some of the christian holidays, but thats mostly because of tradition In most Nordic countries the amount of believers is less than 50%
I mean the vast majority of swedes are non religious, however many are still registered as members of the Swedish church since up until recently, everybody was automatically entered at birth. Also, being part of the Swedish Church is a small way to give to charity and help maintain very old, beautiful churches. So most people aren't religious, they are simply registered with the church.
@@siiriheikkinen2071 I'd say our most beloved holiday, Jul (or christmas in english), is not even a christian celebration. We celebrated that all the way back during the viking age. For as far as I know, back then we just based it on winter solstice (which is usually the 22nd of december). So I agree. It is more about tradition than religiosity.
Alot of Norwegians might be screaming about the National Holiday, but it says independence day. Norway was not independent before 1905 7th of june, when Norway was dissoluted from the Swedish Union. Norwegians do not celebrate 7th june, but the norwegians celebrate 17th of may, when the constitution was written. We were still techically a part of the Swedish Union untill the 7th of June. I just wanted to make that clear.
On denmark it says constitution day, so why not in Norway? Nobodo celebrates on June 7th here anyway, the only time people celebrate is the 17th of May.
@@andersvassli2349 im from Norway, and we celebrate our constitution day. It is a national holiday. We have many parades and parties. Maybe do some research before you comment.
@@andersvassli2349 I mean said constitution day for Denmark. Would also make much more sense to put up the national day instead of a day almost no Norwegian knows or cares about.
When comparing the kingdoms it would be wise to get basic facts straight. The Kingdom of Denmark has an area of 2,210,408 square km. Whereas the continental part of the kingdom is merely 42,926 square km (+/- a little bit depending on the exact way of measuring).
@@sardendibs Ålandsøerne should be left out too, in that case. And England, Scotland, Wales and Nothern Ireland should not be counted for UK. Not to mention that all the german states have home rule. Or Spain with all its autonomous nations.
@@kristianpoulherkild3401 Again, while technically mostly correct, there are graduations here and different levels of both actual and perceived integration. E.g. fewer powers are devolved by Westminster to Scotland than by "mainland Denmark" to Greenland. E.g. Greenland has left the EU. Scotland can't join on its own. Even Statistics Denmark lists the total area of "All Denmark" to be approx 43.000 km2. But in principle, you are right ... of sorts 😊. It's all a matter of definition.
@@sardendibs Perception doesn't matter, since perception is not reality. While Scotland may have fewer powers than Greenland, they have stronger constitutional protection of those powers. And unlike UK, Denmark does not have any constituent countries, nor any selfgoverning countries. We have one country and two autonomous regions. While said autonomy is extensive, it can be abolished by a simple majority in the danish parliament. When England and Wales voted leave, Scotland could have remained as representant of UK, if such a solution had been desired. Greenland left EEC in 1985 after a referendum, and Faroe Islands never joined EEC. That however does not make any difference whatsoever except for perception - and perception is irrelevant. Perception does not change reality.

Norway's National Day isn't 7th June, 7th June is just a flag Day. The National Day is 17th May, which is one of the biggest National Day celebrates worldwide. While Sweden made their Day an official day off as late as 2005, and Denmark dosen't even have an official National Day.
If I'm not mistaken, Norway celebrate the Norwegian constitution on the 17th of May, just like Danes do on the 5th of June. Whether it's called a national day or constitution day, it is pretty much the same thing.

Although you got the size of Denmark right, although it seems that you forgot Bornholm, the Kingdom of Denmark is actually much bigger. The Kingdom of Denmark and Denmark, is a bit like the United Kingdom and England. And the Kingdom of Denmark also includes the Faroe Islands and Greenland. And seeing as it’s the Kingdom of Denmark you’re comparing, this video isn’t quite right.
The kingdom of Denmark is only a concept and has no actual political relevance. Both Greenland and the Faroe Islands are autonomous with their own governments and denmark has no say in their politics.
@@dsxcs Untrue. Both Greenland and the Faroe Islands could in no way exist, if it wasn’t for the support given by Denmark. They are dependent on Denmark, and its financial support. So not only are they a de jure part of the Kingdom of Denmark, but also a de facto part. Not to mention that to say that they outright rule themselves is simply untrue, and Denmark always has the power to take away their autonomy.
@@dsxcs That is plain wrong. Greenland and Faroe Islands are fully parts of the Kingdom of Denmark and must comply fully with the constitution of the Danish Kingdom. We can at any given time cancel their autonomy without further ado. While the danish parliament at the moment have little say in practice , it is primarily a matter of convention.

I wish I was born from this Nordic nation's
And I expected to see Iceland here 😊😊 ✝️✝️ love to see our Christian nation's
nordic countries are some of the least religious countries in the world. Atleast in finland most people say they dont beleave in any higer power but still remain in the cristian churches papers.
Id say most people arent religious in most Nordic countries, lot of them are still part of the church and partisipate in some of the christian holidays, but thats mostly because of tradition
In most Nordic countries the amount of believers is less than 50%
”christian nations” i wish

When comparing the kingdoms it would be wise to get basic facts straight. The Kingdom of Denmark has an area of 2,210,408 square km. Whereas the continental part of the kingdom is merely 42,926 square km (+/- a little bit depending on the exact way of measuring).
yeah
Technically speaking you are correct, but Greenland has home rule and omitting it for comparrison purposes is not entirely wrong.
