    I've owned and used fender strats and Gibson Les Paul's, but due to personal circumstances had to sell these a number of years ago! I now find myself building up a collection of these so called cheap guitars.They take a lot of setting up but WOW extremely impressed.I would definitely recommend these as second or learner guitars, enjoy!!!! 2:56

    Harley Benton can't compete with Fazley these days.........i like the Fazley Les Paul at £99 delivered.
    Fazley make some lovely guitars.

    Bought one of these - Burl Ash top so a bit more expensive at £62 (the bank will never recover lol) as I wanted a modding guitar. Out of the box, fretboard was dusty as hell but wow, plugged it in, tuned it up and was as impressed as you John. Have 3 other telecasters - Fender, Squier CV50 and Vintage Advanced - and had a set of Fender pups I want to try out and not touching those three so needed a project guitar. But... the sound is not bad for a guitar 4 times if not more in price so have yet to get around to replacing the pickups. I have no idea how they can produce a brand new guitar to this level of pretty decent fit and finish for less money than my parents paid for my first electric 40 years ago. Personally, I think Glarry should be worried. I would happily buy this for any new aspiring guitar player, a bit of a quick setup, neck cleanup and new strings (and change the nut - always chuck in a graphtec lol) then it's a guitar that will last them years. Look forward to next videos as you play more with the guitar :)

      I bought the same one as you. Been buying and playing for nearly 40 years and the one I got is perfect. Can't fault it. Puts some of the expensive "brand name" guitars to shame. The price war is over.

      @@timsimpson9367 Yup too old to be bothered with labels on the headstock. And I reckon pretty soon most kids won't give a monkeys either. If it quacks like a Tele... :)

    That pretty top looks like a HTV vinyl. Heat set plastic film. You can buy them on ebay to jazz up your guitars.

    Amazing value & price John, as a retired professional carpenter / joiner - finish to me looks like rotary cut douglas fir or columbian pine veneer I believe the binding on these is painted on but nevertheless looks good gotta have one for that price - I once bought a Fazley Rickenbaker knock of from Bax the packaging was atrocious how it arrived in one piece I will never know - looks they have upped there game seeing how yours came.

    That is amazing for the price. I'd be interested to know what it's like to play high up the fretboard, especially high bends, that's always a tough test.

    Coming from acoustic guitars, this video was one of a few that convinced me to take a shot at playing an electric guitar for e.g. blues. I didn't want to spend a few hundred euros at a guitar that i would hardly pick up and play. At this price it's not a gamble as the telecaster setup is an easy one (the easiest electric guitar type around?) and i felt a stratocaster has more things to consider for quality in the setup. I like the sound over a basic Marshall amplifier (only reverb). Seems like a good electric starter guitar to me.

    From Leo: $52 is the price of a pair of budget pickups. You bought the pickups and they threw in a whole guitar for free. Clearly lower shelf, but very impressive for what it is. 2.95Kg is about 6.5 pounds. Always enjoy your work Sir. Cheers.

    I got the plain wood one, which is even cheaper than the fancy design on this one.
    I am astounded by the finish. I didn't expect the neck to be so smooth. I expected fret sprout and while the edges are certainly not rolled, there are no sharp edges. The only sharp edge is the upper side of the nut, but some sandpaper to round it off should solve that. I can only find minor aesthetic issues of little importance, though the frets will need a polish and the wood on the fretboard would benefit from some lemon oil. The stock strings will be coming off when my local guitar shop opens. I thought I had several packs of 10s in, but sadly, I must have used them up and not replaced them. The set up was surprisingly good out of the box. The neck looks straight and the action was an acceptable height. The only problem was the low E string refused to intonate. I almost sent back another guitar I bought because it wouldn't intonate the low E (and it had a six saddle configuration for adjustment) but then a friend suggested I ditch the stock strings and hey presto the sixth string came in tune at the 12th perfectly.
    As for the sound, well, the bridge has definitely got that tele spank and the neck is actually less muddy than some other cheap tele copies I have tried. The only problem is that the pick ups are quite microphonic, so they pick up the sound of your fingers moving along the string really loudly. Not sure what the solution to that might be.
    All told, this is an amazing instrument for the price and a great mod platform if you think it needs it. It is certainly streets ahead of the first cheap electric guitar I bought for myself in the 70s.

    50 odd quid and the thing cleans up with the volume 😍 that is a sign of attention to detail that fender and Gibson should take a look at.....

    I have the one with the spalted ash top, and it looks awesome, plays better than my Mexican Tele and only needed a set of super slinky's. The tuners settled down after a day of playing and with the slinky's it stays in amazing tune. Would have paid 5-6 times the price for this ten years ago.

    On the Fazley Tele, I'd have said the top wood looks a lot like run of the mill plywood laminate sanded down but there's more plys than usual, so maybe a custom laminate. Looks good, sounds good, and I'm surprised that the frets are that quality. Great mod potential, but I can't find it available to ship to Canada. I'd say FAYzley, if it was FAHzley it would have two ZZ(no Top) wouldn't it?

    • @berniarmstrong
      @berniarmstrong Рік тому

      I am guessing that if it is nearly in tune out of the box, it kind of hints that a human being actually held the finished product in their hands before shipping it out and maybe confirms that some attempt at a set up was made.

    I had a Fazley Firebird a while back, and after a set-up, it played and sounded great.
    The only problem I had with it was the microphonic pick-ups which squeeled like a pig with too much overdrive.

  • @calbrockocat8728
    @calbrockocat8728 2 роки тому +1

    This Fazley (the pronunciation rhymes with phase me) and others of their lowest end guitars look like the place to learn how to mod as you learn to play. At the price, they are too inexpensive to complain about, even if you did need to do some set up work. If the nut is well cut, I think I'd replace the tuners as I changed the strings the first time. Btw, I remember those patterned paint rollers, too.

    52 quid. That"s bonkers! New guitarists these days with very little money are on a winner for sure. Not entirely taken with that wood grain effect. But at that price....I could live with it. Be interesting to hear it have a proper run out and shake down. 👍

    For the price, not too much to complain about, the finish is not for me
    i would refinish it in a solid colour to hide the hideous grain.
    A few upgrades new tuners seem a must, and a lower action should leave
    you with a decent guitar for far less than any big brand entry level models.
